File:Lightning over John C. Stennis - alt1.jpg

Hi, have you seen my answer in my talk page (about File:Lightning over John C. Stennis - alt1.jpg)? --Dmitry A. Mottl (talk) 22:33, 12 April 2009 (UTC)

I've spotted, despeckled and filtered for dust and noise; would appreciate if you can have a second look at the photo and reconsider your featured photo vote for Toni Frissell's Tuskagee Airmen photo. Thanks. --Goldsztajn (talk) 10:01, 14 April 2009 (UTC)

Image renaming

I saw that you tagged a lot of images for rename but your not on the checkpage for the bot (Commons:MediaMoveBot/CheckPage) Please go to the the talk page and put your name up for approval so that the bot can automatically rename your request instead of waiting for someone else on that list to confirm for you. Important proposal

I wrote a proposal for equalizing the different picture formats on FPC Please have a look. Best regards --Richard Bartz (talk) 20:32, 17 April 2009 (UTC)

File renames

If you want to rename a file be sure that the description is kept! You just removed the german description and the interwikilinks. Moreover, as you can read in the description you added, this helicopter is a MH-60S and thereby "SH-60 Seahawk at dusk" is not really a suitable filename. Please add a short summary in the future
--D-Kuru (talk) 11:02, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

I have re-uploaded all images yesterday where you can find an equal sign is the filename. I also corrected the description and the filename of HH-60H Seahawk and SH-60F Seahawk flying - ID 070406-N-7130B-487.jpg, MH-60S Seahawk - ID 061215-N-9708H-406.jpg and MH-60S Seahawk - ID 051103-N-2984R-003.jpg. I didn't remove the ID, because a) it's a verification that this image is a work of the US armed forces b) If this image get'sdownloaded and uploaded somewhere with the same filename you have the ID information and you can search for it if you want to know more.
regards --D-Kuru (talk) 17:23, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
I completely agree with you about the ID; look at some of the military pictures on my page, and you'll see that I've put them up for renaming, retaing the ID and giving them a useful title. Also, a  Question how did you 'universally replace' those files without using MediaMoveBot? I'd tagged the above files for renaming, but they hadn't been done yet. Thank you for your advice and assistance, mate. Sarcastic ShockwaveLover (talk) 18:05, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
I could universally replace them without using MediaMoveBot, because I renamed the files on my own (I downloaded the image, renamed them and uploaded them again. Them I told CommonsDelinker to replace all current usages with the new file. Even it would be faster (and maybe easier as well) I prefer to do it by hand. If CommonsDelinker adds a "universally replaced" note the bot tells everybody that it had received the order that the image should be replaced. I didn't deleted them all yesterday, because many of them were still in use. Cecil deleted them before I could do so.

New proposal for the FP candidates voting process

Hello! I've written a proposal to bring more impartiality in the voting process of FP candidates. Could you please give your comment on that here? Regards -- Tiago Fioreze (talk) 21:00, 23 April 2009 (UTC)

Serious business

Sic. I know that when I contribute an image I won't upload until I have properly checked it's id (even then mistakes happen). But if you want to start promoting faulty information on Commons, then I suggest you take a long holiday and don't return before having decided to support verified stuff. You seem to be confusing seriousness of information with seriousness of contribution style. Lycaon (talk) 14:54, 25 April 2009 (UTC)

Hi, Sarcastic ShockwaveLover. I'm sorry you've got yourself in trouble because of me. You've done nothing wrong. I've done nothing wrong either. I was sure they were jacks, when I uploaded the image. IMO the nominated image could have been promoted simply because it shows the school of fish. Anyway, please take it easy, or how you say it in Australia no worries :) --Mbz1 (talk) 20:36, 25 April 2009 (UTC)

Hello Sarcastic ShockwaveLover

I inform you I have nominate this picture for FP. It's from File:720th STG.jpg, with few modifications (chromatic abberation and little cropping).

Sémhur (talk) 18:15, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

Rename of images

You have approved the renameing of this image File:Rupsha Bridge 4.jpg (this is the new name) and some others. If we have to use our time to rename images is "Rupsha Bridge" really a good name? I mean it does not look like a bridge to me. Renameing gives additional work checking, moveing, replacing use, checking that all use has been replaced, and deleting etc. Just a thougt from a tired man :-) --MGA73 (talk) 21:39, 17 June 2009 (UTC)

  • You make a good point; I discussed the matter with the tagger here, and at the time was satisfied with his answers. In hindsight, the names weren't particularly descriptive, and you're right, it was a superflous task. If you can suggest any improvements for my naming approval process in future, I'll take it on board. Thanks for your interest. Sarcastic ShockwaveLover (talk) 16:53, 19 June 2009 (UTC)
Tnx. Glad you agree it's not a bridge :-D Well if files were to be renamed my only suggestion would have been to rename some of them "xxx near Rupsha Bridge" or somthing like that. Personally I do not see a big problem with filenames with name of photographer in it, but thats an other story. You clearly shown that you check before you move so thats good. Cleaning up requestet moves is good - even if it means that Category:Duplicate grow. --MGA73 (talk) 17:57, 19 June 2009 (UTC)

Stop insulting at FPC

I am only voicing an opinion here. Whether approving or disapproving, it is an opinion. And now I am requesting a formal apology from you for your openly insults and ad hominem attacks. Lycaon (talk) 04:56, 27 June 2009 (UTC)

  • If anyone here deserves an apology, it's Adam. You had a chance to object when he asked for comments. I can't see why we're persisting with this. Anyway, does the accused (ie. Me) have a right to hear the charges, evidence (and interpretations thereof) laid against him? Sarcastic ShockwaveLover (talk) 06:34, 27 June 2009 (UTC)
    • Agreed. It would be more beneficial to the project for Lycaon to evaluate the quality of the work itself (which is excellent). This seems a bit far to carry a procedural objection, particularly where precedent already exists and open discussion had been sought proactively. If Lycaon's concerns about conduct are meritorious, then surely others would step forward to defend him. As things stand, this creates a reasonable appearance that Adam is the aggrieved party. Adam's gracious reaction is earning sympathy. We share a common goal of encouraging and recognizing the site's best work. Let's set aside our differences and keep the big picture in mind. With respect toward all parties, Durova (talk) 18:22, 27 June 2009 (UTC)

Please remain calm and collegial

Personal attacks and disruptive comments only escalate a situation; please keep calm and remember that action can be taken against other parties if necessary. Please try to remain civil with your comments. Thanks!

Lycaon (talk) 10:55, 27 June 2009 (UTC)

Hi Sarcastic ShockwaveLover, I see lycaon blames you in incivility and PA. Oh boy, that man is blaming people in his own sins. Here he blamed me in " the subtle, but no less real, harassment" but I never harassed him, just the opposite, he has been harassing me, and it was not the subtle, it was very open. Please do not pay attention to his warning, and his words. His words mean nothing. They are as empty as emty he is. The man is very dishonest (and I could prove my words with many samples). The man likes to enforce his own stupid rules (and I could prove my words with many samples.) The man is very unfair (and I could prove my words with many samples). Admin lycaon deletes messages from his talk page (and I could prove my words with many samples.) So, Sarcastic ShockwaveLover please stay cool with him, and hold your ground. You are absolutely right! Good luck and best wishes.user:Mbz1 11:29, 27 June 2009 (UTC)

Your comment

Hi Sarcastic ShockwaveLover . I saw your your comment. May I please ask you, if you know everything what happened? Have you read the message I left at your talk page, the message that was removed soon after? Do you know about post on AN/U (don't worry not about you, about me ?Best wishes.--Mbz1 (talk) 13:22, 4 July 2009 (UTC)

Apologies for interrupting, but since Lycaon made that harassment comment to you, Mila, you have done nothing but. You are (apparently) stalking his contributions and seemingly taking every opportunity to criticise him and spread the word that you have a disagreement with him. Isn't it time to drop it? You are only confirming his comments by continuing to make such a big deal of it. Maedin\talk 16:05, 6 July 2009 (UTC)
That's OK, Maedin. No worries. The answer to your question is "no". I do not think it is a time to drop, yet I did. I post no more to AN/U, I post no more to Lycaon talk page. I posted here in direct response to this comment. I still believe I have the right to have a conflict resolution, don't I. I need some help, and IMO Lycaon needs some help too. May I please ask you to give me some samples of me "taking every opportunity to criticise Lycaon and stalking his contributions." What his contributions I stalked? Also may I please ask you, where were you with your advises, when Lycaon was harrasing me and stalking my contributions? Thanks.--Mbz1 (talk) 16:27, 6 July 2009 (UTC)
(ec) Feel free to interrupt; with something that's clearly generating as much bad blood as this, it would be silly not to. I really don't want to get involved with what is obviously a long running and corrosive battle between Mbz and Lycaon; I haven't had a chance to look at the issue, so even if I was planning on examining the matter, I haven't got enough background knowledge to comment with any degree of accuracy. I have written to Lycaon regarding the deletion of a message from my talk page, and what I regard as conduct unbecoming an administrator. My dealings with Lycaon have see-sawed from amicable to...interesting. I don't know the man nearly well enough to give an assessment of him, but what I have seen so far is detailed in the link to my letter above. Sarcastic ShockwaveLover (talk) 16:34, 6 July 2009 (UTC)
Sarcastic ShockwaveLover, I am sorry I got you involved with this. I would not like anybody to get involved. The only thing I'd like to happen is to straighten it out with Lycaon. I'm sure this will be helpful not only for me and for him, but for the community in whole. Please notice I do not say that I am 100% right and Lycaon is 100% wrong, not at all. I only like to straighten it out with Lycaon. That's all. Is this so much to wish for? Thanks. I just read your letter to Lycaon. I was stunned to find out that he removed a comment made by IP. Any IP has the right to comment on FP nominations. It was just a friendly comment, not a vote. I do not know what to think any more. Lycaon responded your message at his talk page claiming that "reversal of unproductive edits by an IP is not a crime this side of the world". As usually the man is not speaking the truth. Yes, I was not able to log in, but I signed my comment and Lycaon knew very well it was me. In response to other admin quary he said that he was aware it was me, and that "If it was a completely unknown, it would have been 3 days" about the block he posted on me. Anyway... I am sorry I got you into this. It was not my intention. I simply wanted to tell you the rest of the story that you already were involved in, but after your message at Lycaon talk page and his response, I felt like I had to add some more info. I could not do it at his talk page, where it belongs to. He has removed at least 2 of my messages from his page already and ignored few others. I do have strong case against Lycaon, but he refuesed to have a conflict resolution. I know you have no time to read all the diff, and please do not. It is just for the record. Best wishes --Mbz1 (talk) 16:55, 6 July 2009 (UTC)
@Maedin, If I see something that I believe is wrong in Lycaon contributions, I will point it out. I do not think it is right, when users do not feel comfortable to comment on his contributions. Of course he and you have the same rights to point out to me something that he/you do not like in my contributions as you just did. The only thing, I need some samples not just words, please. BTW, if you are to respond, it might be better to move it to my own talk page. Thanks.--Mbz1 (talk) 16:55, 6 July 2009 (UTC)
Yes, Mila, good idea, I will respond at your talk page. Maedin\talk 17:02, 6 July 2009 (UTC)
