Bien cordialement, Patrub01 (talk) 09:09, 2 April 2023 (UTC)

FranceOccupee.jpg
Hi! I have a question about this picture: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:FranceOccupee.jpg of which you are listed as one of the authors. In the second and third map of that picture the Zone de peuplement allemand in dark pink is extended to cover the whole of Franche-Comté. I'd like to find more details about this territorial change. Do you have any information about it? Thank you very much! 195.62.160.60 08:25, 10 May 2023 (UTC)
- Hello,
- there were zones unilaterally drawn by the Nazis, where they prohibited refugees from returning to their homes and where they intended to encourage the settlement of German colonisers. The long-term plan being to encroach even further West into France than Alsace and Moselle. You find it mentioned in Paxton's Vichy France: Old Guard and New Order, 1940-1944, Knopf, 2015 (p.13), for instance.
- Cheers! Rama (talk) 13:34, 10 May 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you for your kind response. I fear my question was not clear enough. I'm aware of that area of German occupation beyond Alsace and Lorrain, the zone réservée. The problem is that your map is the only one I've ever seen in which this zone réservée is extended to cover the entire Franche-Comté. In every other case I'm aware of it covers only part of it. Looking at your map it seems like after November 1942 Germany expanded their zone de peuplement allemand to include all of Franche-Comté. I'd like to find more information about this little specific detail. --79.13.168.175 21:57, 11 May 2023 (UTC)
- Ah sorry. I think that must be the work of User:Spiridon_Ion_Cepleanu, at least I do not remember changing the limits of the Zone Réservée. Cheers! Rama (talk) 07:23, 12 May 2023 (UTC)

Copyright status: File:Quai du Seujet 12-16-IMG 4397.JPG
This media may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading File:Quai du Seujet 12-16-IMG 4397.JPG. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.
If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.) If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there. Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you. |

How to ask for speedy-delete of an empty category
When you want to ask for speedy-delete of an empty category, best practice is to mark it with {{SD|C2}} if it would be OK to re-create it in the future, given that appropriate content becomes available or {{SD|C1}} if it is an inappropriate category name that should not be reused. In particular, this is better practice than just blanking the category page, as you did at Category:Untitled-Max Weber-Friedhof Rosenberg. ("C1" and "C2" come from Commons:Criteria for speedy deletion). Jmabel ! talk 21:30, 1 February 2024 (UTC)

OS requests
Hello Rama, can you confirm that your team is receiving OS emails to your distribution? We are following up on ticket:2024012510012009 — xaosflux Talk 11:07, 29 January 2024 (UTC)
- Hello,
- I am sorry, I do not have access to the ticket, so can only speak in general terms. There have been instances in the past where a user contacted one of us directly because their messages were not getting through on our mailing list. I have not received anything from the mailing list in the recent days, and I will bring the attention of my colleagues to this message.
- Cheers! Rama (talk) 12:56, 29 January 2024 (UTC)
- That ticket is in the stewards queue, I sent (or at least attempted to send) the text of it to the commonswiki os address a couple days ago. I just sent another forward to oversight-commons@lists.wikimedia.org - if you don't see would you check your listserv moderation queue? — xaosflux Talk 14:22, 29 January 2024 (UTC)
- Sorry, yes I now realise what you are referring to. Both your messages did in fact go through, there is a bit of thinking going on as to what to do. I hope we can get back to you with an answer soon. Cheers! Rama (talk) 20:08, 29 January 2024 (UTC)
- @Rama was this addressed such that we can close our ticket? (Our ticket is from the customer asserting that stewards assistance is needed as local oversight is unavailable). — xaosflux Talk 16:45, 2 February 2024 (UTC)
- Basically there is a general consensus among the Commons Oversights that the situation does not warrant Oversight action, but we do not have clear procedures to communicate that. I am fairly confused. Sorry about that, it should not fall upon you to request updates like this. Rama (talk) 19:08, 2 February 2024 (UTC)
- No worries. Your team is obviously not unavailable, so no need for us to do anything, thank you for the udpate. When we decline (which the stewards are not actually doing in this case), we usually send customers a templated sort of response such as:

Thanks and thoughts on usage of Template:Art Photo
Salut! Merci beaucoup for your addition of {{Art Photo}} on and creation of Wikidata items for File:Bellbeaker culture - beaker - Musée Unterlinden inv. no. Ao.221.jpg and File:Bellbeaker culture - beaker - Musée Unterlinden inv. no. Ap.222.jpg!! This is the exact work I try to do myself as well, but often do not succeed to finish for my uploads here. Especially because I often have a very similar workflow I have some questions/hints/thoughts:
- Some data can be stored/moved/retrieved from Structured Data for Commons which I think is advantageous (and 1–3 are currently already done by bot automatically):
|photo date=
: stored in inception (P571) if it's not higher precision than day. (cf. phab:T266407.)|source=
: stored in source of file (P7482)|photographer=
: stored in creator (P170)|wikidata=
: stored in depicts (P180) + main subject (P921) (for 2D works: + digital representation of (P6243))
- I think the description I have given
{{en|1=Bellbeaker culture - beaker - Musée Unterlinden inv. no. Ap.221}}
better fits into|description=
rather than|photo description=
. - I prefer to give license information like this:
== {{int:license-header}} ==
{{Licensed-PD|{{PD-old-100-expired}}|{{self|cc-by-4.0}}}}
rather than using|artwork license=
and|photo license=
. Because this doesn't break up the maybe interesting information about the photo (as opposed to the in a way technical license information) into two parts and consumes less vertical space because the tag templates are not in the table created by {{Art Photo}}. Are you aware of any wider discussion of the two options on Commons?
Regarding the Wikidata items bell beaker (Q124459869) and bell beaker (Q124459893):
- instance of (P31) item of collection or exhibition (Q18593264) shouldn't be used this way I think. Because:
- It hits this constraint which refers to d:Talk:Q18593264#instance of = item of collection or exhibition.
- In this case it is over-classification because archaeological artifact (Q220659) is already a subclass of item of collection or exhibition (Q18593264), cf. the (collapsed) "Classification of the class archaeological artifact (Q220659)" which gets displayed if you open d:Talk:Q220659.
Sorry for the very lengthy text! Feel free to reply to only parts if you prefer and merci d'avance! Cdlt, --Marsupium (talk) 12:46, 12 February 2024 (UTC)
- Hello, and thank you for your thoughts.
- I did not know that the Structured Data would automatically feed the Art Photo template, although in hindsight it makes sense. Today I Learnt!
- I do not have strong opinions on points 2 and 3, other than that as author you should obviously be able to chose your preferred convention if two are equally valid.
- Thank you also for clarifying "item of collection or exhibition"; I thought of it as "being on display", but from the point of view you describe it does make sense that as it be redundant with "archaeological artefact".
- Cheers! Rama (talk) 13:40, 12 February 2024 (UTC)
Je suis moi-même chargée de la photothèque des collections de Paris Musées, aussi n'hésitez pas à me contacter pour de plus amples informations : isabelle.leguern@paris.fr Bien cordialement;

- Bonjour Madame,

This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own).
