Hello, RASECZENITRAM!
Tip: Add categories to your files
Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

Do you own a lot of different cameras?

[edit]

For example,

Personally, I don't find your claim that you are the author of photographs taken with these four different camera models to be credible. If you continue to upload images with doubtful authorship claims without responding to our concerns, all your uploads may be deleted, and you may be blocked from making further uploads. Please note that lying about the authorship of copyrighted works is a violation of copyright law. LX (talk, contribs) 21:12, 8 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello
Sorry... My english is bad. I speak spanish
I have a picture (it no taken for me). That picture is a gift, i want put in wikimedia commons. How I do that?

Please respect my request to keep discussions where they started, as this makes conversations easier to follow. I am watching this page, so I will see responses made here.
When you uploaded these files, you claimed that they were your own work ("Source: Own work") and that you were the copyright holder ("I, the copyright holder of this work"). If your name is César Martínez, you also claimed to be the author of those photos. Based on your admission that you did not create the photos yourself, those claims were false. Uploading files with false information is a violation of Commons' policies and also a violation of copyright laws.
Since you are not the copyright holder of the photos, you cannot place the images into the public domain, as you tried to claim that you were doing. Only the legitimate copyright holder can do that. Therefore, you need to obtain permission from the photographers to place the files into the public domain or to publish them under a free license and forward this to Commons according to the instructions which you can find at Commons:OTRS. You must also correct the information that you provided earlier, assuming the copyright holders give their consent. If they do not, the files need to be deleted.
If you have further questions and you feel more comfortable asking them in Spanish, you can do so at Commons:Café. LX (talk, contribs) 19:02, 24 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Hello. I am Cesar Martinez, from Venezuela. You're right. I have not so many cameras. But I recently purchased a camera and started to climb commons photographs. (For example, the articles "Tapipa" and "Panaquire." These photos are of my authorship. My camera is canon elixim. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by RASECZENITRAM (talk • contribs) 02:36, 25 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Again, please respect my request to keep discussions where they started, as this makes conversations easier to follow. I am watching this page, so I will see responses made here. Since you still have not clarified which of the photos you have uploaded are actually your own work (except the most recent ones), I will nominate them for deletion. Warning sign
This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Solamey_Blanco_Sojo.JPG. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page. If the content is a derivative of a copyrighted work, you need to supply the names and a licence of the original authors as well.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use cc-by-sa-2.5 to release it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license or PD-self to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find all your uploads using the Gallery tool. Thank you. Notification about possible deletion

[edit]
Some contents have been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether they should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at their entry.

If you created these pages, please note that the fact that they have been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with them, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Fotografías

[edit]

Hola. --Andrea (talk) 09:51, 24 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

2022 Picture of the Year: Saint John Church of Sohrol in Iran.

Read this message in your language

Dear Wikimedian,

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the 2022 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the seventeenth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2022) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year are all entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.

For your convenience, we have sorted the images into topical categories. Two rounds of voting will be held: In the first round, you may vote for as many images as you like. The top 30 overall and the two most popular images in each category will continue to the final. In the final round, you may vote for just three images to become the Picture of the Year.

Round 1 will end on UTC.

Thanks,
the Wikimedia Commons Picture of the Year committee
