Hej. Chyba do kasacji:) Dzięki:) // Bubel (dyskusja) 15:11, 12 June 2013 (UTC)
Będzie w stanie, to wgra nowy plik. // Bubel (dyskusja) 16:08, 12 June 2013 (UTC)
// Bubel (dyskusja) 16:17, 12 June 2013 (UTC)
- O proszę - jednak nie jesteśmy pierwsi:) // Bubel (dyskusja) 16:19, 12 June 2013 (UTC)

[edit]http://meta.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special%3ALog&type=globalauth&page=User%3AThekohser%40global – thekohser's account isn't globally locked anymore. Perhaps you should undo your block. Involved
[edit][1] Your long running involving with Jimbo Wales would mean that you are involved with discussions regarding him, including deletion discussions of pictures of him. That would mean that you have no right to act as an admin in any capacity regarding those matters. Please stop. Ottava Rima (talk) 19:00, 15 June 2013 (UTC)
- Please point me to where I have taken any action as an admin with regards to those matters. odder (talk) 19:02, 15 June 2013 (UTC)
- Warning people is taking an admin action. Interpreting votes on a DR is taking an admin action. That is basic information all admin know about, so I find it hard to take your response in good faith. You were fond of making it clear that you were trolling regarding this topic. Ottava Rima (talk) 19:09, 15 June 2013 (UTC)
- Please point me to any policies which state that only admins can warn users against harassing other editors as well as to any policy that says mentioning another user's edit counter is an admin action. I would also suggest that we leave my English Wikipedia experience out of this. Thank you. odder (talk) 19:13, 15 June 2013 (UTC)
- If you honestly want to claim that you are allowed to abuse adminship in areas you are clearly involved and were blocked for, then it is time to put you up for recall. Your edit summaries suggest you were trolling in this topic area, which would lead one to have strong rationale for a global ban. Commons is not a game to play. Admin are required to treat others with respect and act in a dignified manner. Ottava Rima (talk) 19:16, 15 June 2013 (UTC)
- If you are unable to mention any Commons policies that I have breached by posting to that DR page or User talk:Reaper Eternal, then I suggest you stop your campaign and do something else. If you have a look at my log on Commons, you'll notice I have never been blocked on this project, so please stop posting false information here. If you'd like to put me up for recall, then there are accepted community procedures to do so: please use them. odder (talk) 19:21, 15 June 2013 (UTC)
- I already listed BLP, Civility, and the Admin policy multiple times. Warnings (which there were multiple) are a use of adminship as much as blocking in, and you cannot use them when conflicted. I have asked other admin to become involved and to use admin privileges against you for these transgressions. You have acted in an utterly unbecoming manner and you take it as a joke when an admin is expected to be serious. Furthermore, acting extremely abusively regarding Jimbo on a project other than Commons doesn't allow you to pretend you have no conflict when bringing that dispute over here. Cross-wiki war waging is not what Commons is about. Ottava Rima (talk) 19:25, 15 June 2013 (UTC)
- BLP is not a Wikimedia Commons policy, and I have only posted one message to User talk:Reaper Eternal, that's two — so please, stop posting false accusations against me. odder (talk) 19:30, 15 June 2013 (UTC)

[edit]Hi, Odder. According to the result this poll, the conmemorative logo for the 1,000,000th article had to stay for one month. Tomorrow expires that period and, as you changed the versions, I ask you to restore it to the previous one. Regards, LlamaAl (talk) 18:10, 16 June 2013 (UTC)

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues. |

Sanskrit Wikiquote Logo
[edit]Hello Odder. As u may remember, u had drawn my attention towards non-proper format of sa.wiki logo which was not a true svg. Now I am with a task to correct the sa.wikiquote logo. The logo right now depicts the word विकिसूक्तयः which our contributors want to be corrected as विकिसूक्तिः . Now, can u plz tell me what is the software and/or correct way to draw a true svg using some open source software (eg inkscape) (u may give a link to a relevant tutorial if u find one suitable for our logo case). If u can do it easily i would request you to plz do it for our sa.wikiquote community, or plz let me know how can i do this. We'll appreciate ur kind response in either case. Thanks. -Hemant wikikosh (talk) 05:23, 17 July 2013 (UTC)
- (I'm not sure where I'm supposed to respond, so I'm going to do it here.) The Sanskrit Wikiquote logo shares the very same defect as the Wikipedia one: it is a PNG image copied inside an SVG document and is therefore of little value, if any. I think I mentioned the correct way of doing such things during our discussion about the Wikipedia logo: you need to pick an existing Wikiquote logo and edit it in Inkscape, adding appropriate text and converting it into path before uploading so that it is properly rendered by our SVG rendering library (librsvg). If you are not able to do that, I can re-create the logo for you: do you know what's the font that supposed to be used in the logo? odder (talk) 06:05, 17 July 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks for the reply. And sorry for my delayed response. OK, now i understand that, perhaps last time i used already imperfect logo for further edit in inkscape, which resulted in an imperfect format. And this time if i start from en.wikiquote svg logo, it should not give any aberration, as the logo is in truly svg format. I am trying for the same. And will try to refer to u after that. One more thing, r there instructions on use of fonts? Can i use commercially available fonts? Or there must be used freely available fonts only? Perhaps i would prefer Arial Unicode MS or Mangal, if there is no restriction. Plz provide me with this info. Thanks. -Hemant wikikosh (talk) 17:25, 19 July 2013 (UTC)
- There are no guidelines for the creation of Wikiquote logos, and I know for a fact that the Wikimedia Foundation was using Gill Sans even when it wasn't free yet (it only entered public domain in 2011). That being said, it is generally preferred to use free fonts (as in free software) instead of proprietary ones, so I would strongly advise you do to so. odder (talk) 18:37, 19 July 2013 (UTC)

1 000 000 logo
Blackfish (talk) 11:00, 22 July 2013 (UTC)

This seemed to be the last file where the transcodes were broken. To fix this I tried to upload a small test file and then revert back to the original version because this often helped in the past. However, likely to it's size, I wiped the file completely from the servers. Considering the upload limit of 500 MB, I am also not sure how to fix this. Copyright status: File:ESP Entrena Flag.svg
[edit]This media may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading File:ESP Entrena Flag.svg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.
If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.) If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there. Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you. |
JuTa 22:03, 15 September 2013 (UTC)
- Really. How long would have it taken you to add that tag instead of throwing this template at me? The thoughtless automatization is worse than I could have imagined... odder (talk) 08:17, 16 September 2013 (UTC)

Jeśli dobrze rozumiem, nawet opisanie tego układu w Internecie "Alt+1 to taki znak, Alt+2 to inny" też będzie złamaniem praw autorskich? --CzakNoris (talk) 20:38, 21 October 2013 (UTC)

Flagged revisions?!
[edit]Hello user:Odder! Are you really sure that "flagged revisions" should be turned on at chechen WP? (bug 56408) There is only a discussion of 2 users on chechen WP about this. And the reason for flagged revisions is "we would like to be able to celebrate the article as patrolled the Russian Wikipedia"?!
- en:Chechen Wikipedia is far too small for this. See ce:Special:Statistics (26 active users, 2 admins, 4723 articles) and 0, zero reviewers!
- See also meta:Requests for comment/POV in Chechen Wikipedia, [3], [4], [5].
Just for your information. --Atlasowa (talk) 12:58, 31 October 2013 (UTC)
- Hi Atlasowa, thanks for the message.
I did check the URL provided by Umar, and also had a look at the list of most active users on the Chechen Wikipedia; it seems that Umar and Simba16 are the two most active users, and that there aren't really other active users there.
I don't think that the lack of reviewers is an issue here; wikis do not have them before the extension is enabled, that's the whole point of it :-) As for the small number of articles and admins, there are varied opinions (some people say only mature wikis should enable FlaggedRevs, and others disagree) — as a Gerrit committer and Bugzilla lurker, I'm not in much of a position to discuss that.
That being said, I have just unassigned myself from that bug and added the 'shellpolicy' keyword which signals that there might not be enough consensus for the change yet; I agree it'll be prudent to give the Chechen Wikipedia community (however small it is) more time to discuss whether enabling the extension is that good an idea.
Thanks for letting me know about the issue! odder (talk) 15:40, 31 October 2013 (UTC)
- That sounds sensible, thank you. I'm not involved or even really familiar with chechen WP and its users. But it's a really small Wikipedia with NPOV and power issues and it should be open to grow. I made a little general analysis at meta:Talk:Flagged Revisions#Comparison of some Wikipedias. Flagged revisions on russianWP is very restrictive. The reason for turning on flagged revisions in ceWP is hard to understand... [6][7][8] 8-) --Atlasowa (talk) 16:33, 31 October 2013 (UTC)

- I think that's a reasonable aim :) Would you mind having a look at File:Wikivoyage-logo-v3-th.svg and telling me how it looks like to you? Are the Thai characters correct? odder (talk) 09:25, 9 November 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks so much. You have got all the characters correct. It is reasonable to start with this logo. However, I feel that we could improve this logo by changing the font to be more relaxed, informal and leisurely to be consistence with Wikivoyage tone/style. If you have time, we can experiment with a few other fonts. (please see File:Wikivoyage-logo-th.png for example). For the time being, I have now included your logo into the proposal at meta. --taweethaも (talk) 05:32, 10 November 2013 (UTC)
- The problem with File:Wikivoyage-logo-th.png is that the design (the globe) is no longer correct and not used by any Wikivoyage projects — see m:Wikivoyage/Logo announcement and m:Wikivoyage/Logo 2013 for details, and have a look at voy: to see the English logo. odder (talk) 07:46, 10 November 2013 (UTC)
- I am fully aware that the logo (File:Wikivoyage-logo-th.png) is outdated and will not be used. Can we just take the font from File:Wikivoyage-logo-th.png? --taweethaも (talk) 16:16, 10 November 2013 (UTC)
- I don't think it will be right to create a logo different from the one that was chosen by the global Wikimedia community without a very good reason, for example the lack of proper characters, etc. If all the Thai characters in File:Wikivoyage-logo-v3-th.svg are correct, then we should use this logo, in my opinion. odder (talk) 09:12, 11 November 2013 (UTC)
- We may misunderstand each other. The graphic is undoubtedly the gold standard to follow. However, is the font part of the specification chosen by the global community? I agree that we can start with your logo (File:Wikivoyage-logo-v3-th.svg) until someone come up with a better one. (For your reference, we generally have a few fonts on the standard graphic to be chosen by the community. This happens every time we need to update the logo to the new graphic chosen by the community. Here are examples of the process: [9] [10] [11] [12]. Of course, we use free license and commonly used fonts - not the MS or other doggy ones.) --taweethaも (talk) 04:04, 12 November 2013 (UTC)
- Apologies for such a belated reply, I think I might have missed your response amidst a flurry of e-mails. While I applaud the way the Thai Wikimedia community chooses logos for their projects and find it very democratic, building good atmosphere and worth sharing with others, I do think that the font used in the Wikivoyage logo is an inseparable part of its design and should not be changed. That said, I also think it's a good idea to let people create their own logos, and will be looking forward to seeing other designs. odder (talk) 18:17, 17 November 2013 (UTC)
- Thank you very much. I'll let you know how the logo is finalized. (Possibly at the end of Dec 13) --taweethaも (talk) 11:53, 18 November 2013 (UTC)

Vikikitab
[edit]In this project pages cannot be named as "Wikibooks", because there is no any word "Wikibooks" in Azerbaijani language. In Azerbaijani it calls "Vikikitab". Look for example, in Russian wikibooks there aren't also any "Wikibooks", only "Викиучебник", in Turkish wikibooks - "Vikikitap". That's why I cannot revert my edits, because this project is for Azerbaijani speaking people, and they will find information in English. So NS_PROJECT should be named 'Vikikitab' instead of 'Wikibooks'. Please changed it, because Talk page cannot be found. It should be named "Vikikitab müzakirəsi". Thanks, --Irada (talk) 16:16, 18 November 2013 (UTC)
- I will reply on your talk page on Azerbaijani Wikibooks. odder (talk) 18:19, 18 November 2013 (UTC)
Flag of Languedoc-Roussillon
[edit]Hello,
It seems that the current flag of Languedoc-Roussillon in Wikimedia is quite outdated. It is the old logo of the région :Flag_of_Languedoc_Roussillon.svg
In 2005, a new logo has been choose by the Région (you can see it in the official home page of the Languedoc-Roussillon.
The problem is that the old flag is referenced in so many pages that it will be hard (and time consuming) to do an update in all pages.
I've created a new svg that represents the new logo of the region : Région_Languedoc-Roussillon_(FLAG).svg
I'm new to Wikimedia and was wondering what is the process to overwrite the old file with this new file.
Could you help me ?

Re: Re: Flag of Languedoc-Roussillon
[edit]Hi, Concerning the flag: the pattern has been extracted from this [[13]]. Idem for color. Text has been removed. Logo has been centered.
I also made an arms of coats based on the old arms File:Arms of the French Region of Languedoc-Roussillon.svg. The new version is: File:Region of Languedoc-Roussillon (ARMS).svg. For the background color, I kept the same color as the old one since it is also a traditional color for Languedoc-Roussillon.
I'm not an expert in drawings you know :-( I will be more than pleased if someone draws a better flag and coats of arms with this (not so new) logo. I just did some quick work because I noticed that most of the Wikipedias were using a flag and logotype outdated since 2004 (there was an intermediary logotype between 2004 and 2005 with the name "Septminanie" on the flag).
I contacted the original authors of the File:Flag of Languedoc Roussillon.svg and of File:Arms_of_the_French_Region_of_Languedoc-Roussillon.svg too (hoping that they will do a better version than mine :-)). For the flag, the first author is no longer doing flags :-( I am waiting for an answer from the second author (for the coats of arms).
By the way, I updated the flag and the arms on Languedoc-Roussillon on Commons. Is that ok or not ???
*I sometimes feel so dumb on all those Wikis*
Nikator (talk) 05:06, 26 November 2013 (UTC)
Hello,
It seems that someone finally changed the flag of Languedoc-Roussillon with a light-weight version. There still remains the problem with the arm of coats.

Kategorien
[edit]Hallo! Vielen Dank! Allerdings habe ich die redundanten Kategorien "Qualkity images of Devon" und "Quality images of England" wieder entfernt, da diese in "Quality images of Barnstaple" enthalten und damit redundant sind. Lt. --XRay talk 16:22, 26 November 2013 (UTC)

Protesters by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on November 24, 2013.jpg
[edit]Hello! These people are not protesters. They are closely connected with police and with pro-russian Party of Regions. If the word thugs is offensive - maybe, you can rename this file to Young people by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on November 24, 2013.jpg ? It will be the most neutral, and do not insult real protesters. Thank you, Odder! Volodymyr D-k (talk) 17:40, 7 December 2013 (UTC)

One question
[edit]Recently I have recently uploaded many old military maps from Yugoslavia, like this one. Those maps are in the public domain because of two reasons:
- the maps were created by the institution which do public function (see {{PD-YugoslaviaGov}} and {{PD-SerbiaGov}});
- also, the copyrights have expired (see {{PD-Serbia}});
I have combined those two licences ({{PD-YugoslaviaGov}} for public works and {{PD-Serbia}} for expired). Can you please, as an expirience user, just check if everything is correct. Thanks in advance! --Mladifilozof (talk) 12:40, 9 December 2013 (UTC)
- thanks a lot, I will ask onother users as well. --Mladifilozof (talk) 13:23, 10 December 2013 (UTC)
Logo for Dzongkha Wikipedia
[edit]The SVG logo you created for the Dzongkha Wikipedia (:Wikipedia-logo-v2-dz.svg) has an incorrect transliteration of "Wikipedia" and an incorrect translation of "the free encyclopedia" - I have uploaded a new version with the correct text (confirmed by language experts at the Dzongkha Development Commission - where I work as an IT Consultant). However in the new version the logo has come out darker. Perhaps you could fix this to make it conform to the standard version. Thanks. CFynn (talk) 17:29, 9 December 2013 (UTC)

Disruptive user (Anarchistdy)
[edit]As per your comment here, where you said that the uploads by the user was good faith uploads. I am not so sure anymore. See the history of File:YAZOO 475ml ambient Range.jpg where the user keeps blanking the OTRS template, to hide what is right now an upload missing permission. The user has also resorted to randomly nominating the image that I use on my userpage at EN WP, as well as name calling towards the people who has to deal with the problems. As per this and this I also suspect a strong lack of understanding of copyright. Nymf (talk) 23:09, 12 December 2013 (UTC)
- I am not so sure about their good faith, either, having had a look at the links you provided. I left the user a message, and have added that file to my watchlist; I'll try to keep an eye on it. Thanks for bringing this to my attention. odder (talk) 08:40, 13 December 2013 (UTC)
"Freezing Tag"
[edit]a new "Freezing" tag or category or bot or anything (other than deletion) is needed for the many files at the following link deletion request--Ashashyou (talk) 04:55, 13 December 2013 (UTC)
- I think there is a bug about this somewhere on our Bugzilla installation, but I can't find it right now. So, with the current software possibilities and the local policies here on Commons, it is not possible to freeze these images, but they can be added to Category:Undelete in 2019, just like similar files. odder (talk) 08:52, 13 December 2013 (UTC)

GWToolset
[edit]Hey Tomasz,
FYI, I think you’re right − I’ve been a bit careless with handing that right around. There is defintely a need for these users to have this right, but I should have realised the Beta Cluster was plenty enough for that. Apologies, and thanks :) Jean-Fred (talk) 11:39, 18 December 2013 (UTC)
- No worries, Jean-Fred! I don't think you've been careless; the people you assigned this right to are definitely trusted, I was talking about a matter of principle rather than about the specifics :-) And I can understand your excitement — I too am very happy GWToolset is finally deployed on our project! odder (talk) 11:46, 18 December 2013 (UTC)
