Karte Schmöckwitz-Grünauer Uferbahn

Hallo NordNordWest! Ich stamme aus Karolinenhof und möchte gern wissen, wo Du die Information zur ehemaligen Streckenführung her hast. Meiner Erinnerung nach an Erzählungen in der Kindheit weicht diese Streckenführung nämlich ab. Was ich noch mit eigenen Augen gesehen habe, ist dass das Kehrgleis in der Schappachstraße mind. bis Treppendorfer weg ging, es war sogar zweigleisig. Erst in den 1990 Jahren ist es zu diesem kurzen Stummel zurückgebaut worden, ich glaube als die Kanalisation etwa 1997/1998 gebaut wurde. Mit der jüngsten Streckensanierung im vergangenen Sommer ist das Kehrgleis ganz entfernt worden.

Den Erzählungen nach führte die alte Uferbahn nicht wie von Dir dargestellt schon vor Karolinenhof durch den Wald, sondern nutzte die Schappachstraße (das spätere Kehrgleis) und bog dann hinter den Grundstücken Höhe Karolinenhofweg 40 in den Wald. Mein Vater hat mir in den 80er Jahren auch immer noch den alten Damm gezeigt, auf dem die Gleise gelegen haben sollen.

I understand why you deleted my re-name proposal, but are you not implying a circular argument? "The name is appropriate because the image is used on pages about the 3rd Panzer Division." I argue that there is no reliable independent evidence that this was, in fact, the logo of the 3rd Panzer Division, or, for that matter, any other division of the Wehrmacht, and that naming this media "3rd Panzer Division logo 2" spreads unreferenced attributions throughout Wikipedia. There is, on the other hand, ample evidence that this is the peace sign, and I suggest that it is renamed accordingly, or, since there is already a good image of the peace sign, File:Peace sign.svg, deleted. I am not into Panzer Divisions at all. You wrote that there is better evidence for a peace sign but that doesn't mean that there is no evidence for a division sign. On the other hand this file is used in lots of Wikipedia articles in many different languages. Did the contributors to these articles really only copy the sign from the other articles? OpenStreetMap-Nutzung

Hallo NNW, Woher kommen denn deine Daten? Ich frage mich gerade, ob Openstreetmap sie nutzen kann. Da die von OSM genutzte Lizenz ODbL nicht CC-BY-SA-kompatibel ist, wollte ich fragen, ob du sie auch unter ODbL stellen magst, so dass sie weiter verwendet werden könnten? Hi, ich bin über die Bäreninsel zu dir gekommen. Die ist in OSM noch komplett weiß. Grob die Seen und Gebirge einzeichnen ginge schon. Nichtsdestotrotz, hab mich gerade mal durch deine Gallerie geklickt. Beispiel Archäologisches Freilichtmuseum Groß Raden: Da gäbe es zB noch Namen, wie "Schmiede" oder "Bohlenweg", den man übernehmen könnte. Und wenn ichs recht überlege, wäre eine Übersetzung deinerseits von den Bäreninsel-Namen ja auch schon Daten, die man übernehmen kann. Doch eben nicht unter der Lizenz. Vielleicht hast du ja Lust, die Sachen noch unter ODbL zu stellen oder zumindest explizit OSM die Nutzung einzuräumen :) Würden uns freuen. --S-Man42 (talk) 16:17, 13 February 2013 (UTC)

„Schmiede“ oder „Bohlenweg“ kannst du auch ohne Erlaubnis übernehmen, Namen besitzen keinen Schutz. Bei der Bäreninsel kann ich die Lizenz nicht ändern. Pinpin hat die Karte unter dieser Lizenz hochgeladen, beim Übersetzen musste ich die Lizenz übernehmen. Da habe ich keinerlei Spielraum. Du musst dich da an den Urheber der Originalkarte wenden. Hallo, I saw you uploaded the svg-versions of the Milan metro lines logos ([2] etc).
You should change the colors and use the correct tones, as you can see on the official map (pdf here). The correct codes are:

Karte Metropolregion Berlin-Brandenburg.svg

Hallo NordNordWest,

mir ist aufgefallen, dass auf der Karte fälschlicherweise die Gemeinde Bestensee (südlich von Königs Wusterhausen) gelb/beige markiert ist. Sie gehört aber offiziell nicht zum Berliner Umland (obwohl eigentlich ein geschlossenes Siedlungsgebiet bis zur Hauptstadt besteht). Deshalb wäre es super, wenn du die Farbe änderst.

Es wäre auch klasse, wenn es hier eine Gemeindekarte von Brandenburg/Berlin gäbe (so wie für Mecklenburg-Vorpommern vom Nutzer TUBS), die sich gut mit Inkscape bearbeiten lässt - dass man Gemeinden farbig mit dem Knotenwerkzeug ausfüllen kann. Mit dem Füllwerkzeug ist das immer so ungenau.

Since Malaysia is separated in two by the vast South China Sea, I'll make a request to have two separate maps to be created: for West (1st image) and East (2nd image). Currently there is a combined map of Malaysia (3rd image), I myself can separate it (but not deleting the original) however I'm not that much confident to do so since it needs geographical limits to have it done. Help needed

Hi NordNordWest, I noticed you've created many location maps, including several of Italy. However, I've got some problems with using them. Could you explain why these do work on the English Wikipedia (have a look here):

while these don't work:

Thank you for your quick reply. I'm now starting to understand how these location map templates work. I don't get why the relief maps are jpg files, while all other (standard) location maps are svg files, but I guess this is not really important.

Concerning the maps, could you add rivers to the map of Sicily (like you did on those of Italy North, Calabria, and Tuscany)? I don't know if there are any notable rivers in Sicily but I will keep it in mind to look for it. Right now I am too busy for it. I won't expand the Mediterranean Sea map, these maps are always too short for someone. :o) Don't forget that any change of the shown area of a location map leads to necessary changes in any template in any Wikipedia which uses this map. And the relief map would have to be changed, too. This would lead to many problems. NNW 12:06, 10 April 2013 (UTC)

It depends on your definition of "notable". Could you have a look at your map of Calabria? It includes several rivers which are usually omitted in atlases/maps. It also displays a small part of the Alcantara river on Sicily. I think it's odd to include a Sicilian river on a map of Calabria, but exclude it on a map of Sicily. By the way, there are a dozen of rivers on Sicily longer than the Alcantara (en:Sicily#Rivers; more rivers can be found at en:List of rivers of Italy#Rivers of Sicily).

Well, the new map of the Mediterranean+Portugal doesn't have to replace the old version. Couldn't you just create a slightly larger map and name it "Mediterranean++" or something?

By the way, is it difficult to create new location maps? I've no experience at all with creating svg or png files, but it might be more efficient if I couldn't create new maps myself, instead of having to to ask others. I hope I'm not being a bother to you.

Cosmetics for markAdmins.js

Hi NordNordWest, as mentioned on PDDs talk page on the German Wikipedia there are two glitches with markAdmins.js when using the vector skin. I proposed two small changes that solve the problem which can be found in my local copy of the script on English Wikipedia. Ich bin gerade völlig erstaunt, dass dieses Skript, dass anscheinend das einzige brauchbare dieser Art hier ist, fast nicht genutzt wird. Das hat in meinen Augen zwei unschlagbare Vorteile: Alle Benutzer des Scripts (auch wenn wir derzeit nur drei zu sein scheinen ;) ) profitieren von den neuen Funktionen und es muss nur eine Liste von Administratoren, Stewards, etc. aktuell gehalten werden. Gute Idee, die Skripte können gern zusammengelegt werden. Meine Anpassung verändert die Funktion des Skripts bei normaler Einbindung nicht, um eine Veränderung zu bewirken müssen erst Variablen vorbelegt werden. Wenn das ganze auf User:NordNordWest/markAdmins.js liegen soll, müsste NNW dem allerdings zustimmen, an Skripten im fremden BNR mache ich grundsätzlich keine größerern Änderungen ohne Zustimmung des Benutzers. --Didym (talk) 13:37, 8 May 2013 (UTC)

N/S stretching on equirectangular maps

On your equirectangular-projection location maps, such as this one, you stretch locations away from the equator to compensate for map distortion. Is there an algorithm you use to determine the amount of stretching to apply to maps centered on a particular latitude, or were you just eyeballing it? I ask because I am currently working on some maps, and I can't get them to look good at northern latitudes, which is to be expected with a plain plate-carrée projection. In the beginning I was more or less eyeballing but now I take an algorithm: (1/cos central latitude of the shown area)*100. I often take a rounded number, 160 instead of 159, but not always. Ich denke nach wie vor, dass die sieben Kats einheitlich Bezirk X heißen sollten. Das habe ich nur wegen Zeitmangels etwas aufgeschoben. Wenn du alle vereinheitlichen möchtest, kannst du gerne anfangen. Zumindest bei Eimsbüttel, Wandsbek, Bergedorf und Harburg ist es dasselbe Problem, und wenn man fünf Kats umbenannt hat, kommt es auf die übrigen zwei auch nicht mehr an. That is a problem with all locations near a boundary, especially when the boundary has got such a strange excrescence like Slovenia at this point which is too small to be seen underneath the red dot. It looks a bit strange and wrong but I think I cannot fix it. The coordinates are correct and I cannot "expand" Slovenia at this point. Do you have a better idea? Hmm, eine Themenkategorie. An sich vielleicht ganz schön, um übergreifend ein Gebiet abzudecken, zumal es verwaltungstechnisch zerschnitten ist. Das Einbinden in eine passende Oberkat ist allerdings schwierig. Grindel o.Ä. haben bislang auch keine eigene Kat. Für eine abschließende Meinung muss ich darüber nachdenken. Schwierig werden dürfte eine Abgrenzung, sowohl geografisch als auch zu sagenwirmal „Musiker-/Märchen-/Wasweißich-Straßenviertel. NNW 13:14, 14 June 2013 (UTC)

In Tirol stellt die ÖVP den Landeshauptmann in einer Regierung mit den Grünen. In Niederösterreich stellt die ÖVP den Landeshauptmann in einer Regierung mit SPÖ und Team Stronach. Ich würde die Frage anders stellen: Bringt es etwas, einen Benutzer anzusprechen, oder könnte ich es auch einer Wand erzählen? In diesem Fall würde ich dein Anliegen eher der Kategorie Wand zuordnen. Da ist keine Änderung zu erwarten, also lohnt es sich nicht, sich darüber zu ärgern. Es sind nur ein paar Hundert Bilder mehr zu den Zehntausenden, die nicht kategorisiert sind. Statt "Tritonhöfe am Alten Teichweg ..." muss der Dateiname "Tritonhof am Alten Teichweg ..." lauten (ich bin heute morgen vor Erstellung der Kategorie dort nochmal vorbeigeradelt und stellte dabei meinen Fehler fest). United Arab Emirates

Hello, awhile ago you created File:United Arab Emirates location map.svg. In 2012 you changed the border of Dubai/Abu Dhabi. I changed it back based on another website, and as all other UAE locators seem to have the original borders. However, I looked a bit more and google maps also has a little bend. File:Dubai in United Arab Emirates.svg shows the palm as part of Dubai, even though the mainland near it isn't, similar to File:Abu Dhabi in United Arab Emirates.svg. Änderung in den Karten Norderney und Norderney (Nationalparkzonierung)

Hallo NNW,

eine kleine Bitte um Änderung in den o. g. Karten Norderney und Norderney + NSG.

Norderney hat drei Ortsteile, den Hauptort Norderney, den Ortsteil Nordhelm und Fischerhafen. Ist es möglich in den beiden Karten den Punkt Fähranleger durch Fischerhafen zu ersetzen? Die Beschriftung sollte dann über den Innenhafen gelegt werden, da der Hafenbereich, die Marina und das nördlich angrenzende Gewerbegebiet dazu zählen. Im Endeffekt verdeutlich das Luftbild im Artikel Fischerhafen die Lage.

Würde darüber hinaus der informative Charakter der Karten geschmälert werden, wenn wie in der Karte der Insel Juist auch noch die Topzeichen der dort errichteten Baken mit eingezeichnet würden? Dies ist bei Baltrum und Borkum nämlich auch nicht der Fall, nur bei Juist warum auch immer. Yugoslavian borders around 1940

Hello NordNordWest, I'm working on a map of Rebecca West's travels through Yugoslavia. For that, I need the borders of the country around that time, which I found on the map you created ([[6]]). I've been trying to georeference it in QGis, but unsuccesfully so -- the map is off by a few hundred kilometres. Do you have a georeferenced version I could use? Many thanks! Hello! I checked the file and the coordinates that you can find in the file description are correct. If you want to test it yourself go to de:Vorlage:Positionskarte Jugoslawien and click Die Karte als KML-Datei in Google Earth öffnen at the bottom of the page. You will get a KML file that places the map in Google Earth with the coordinates given in the file description. I haven't got another version of that file. NNW 15:07, 18 August 2013 (UTC)

My attempts at georeferencing the file in QGis failed, but it's correct in Google Earth; how can I use the information from Google Earth to get a better georeferenced image in QGis? Wenn es so werden soll, wie bei Sulingen, benötigst du nur die Grenzen, alles andere kann weg. Du wählst also die Grenzen aus (man kann auch ein Element davon anklicken und alle gleichaussehenden Elemente auswählen lassen; mit Illustrator geht das ganz leicht, bei Inkscape etwas komplizierter, ich kann dir allerdings nicht genau sagen, wie; da müsstest du ein Tutorial oder jemand fragen, der mit Inkscape arbeitet) und kopierst sie in ein neues Dokument. Dann verbindest du die Einzelteile, sodass du Flächen bekommt, färbst sie entsprechend ein und beschriftest das Ganze. Das ist eigentlich alles. NNW 17:56, 26 August 2013 (UTC)

Super, das ging ja schnell. Kleine Anmerkung zur Typographie: Das Wort Kiribati könnte weniger gesperrt sein, also ein geringerer Buchstabenabstand. - Ich denke trotzdem, dass Gilbertinseln gänzlich gegen Kiribati ausgetauscht werden kann; wir haben auch sonst keine verwaltungsmässigen Untergliederungen drin ausser dem Bismarck-Archipel; hier wären es dann zwei Units eines Staates. Es würde optisch deutlicher aussagen, dass KI "nur" zu Mikronesien gehört. Jetzt sieht es noch so aus, als ob Kiribati "kulturell" weit nach Polynesien hineinreicht, was defacto aber nicht stimmt, die Linieninseln und Phoenixinseln liegen zwar dort, waren aber für die Zeit der bescheidenen gelegentlichen Besiedlung zum mikronesischen Kulturbereich gehörig. Für die Phoenixinseln eine eigene Beschriftung zu nehmen, finde ich gut, das ist das riesige Gebiet der Phoenix Islands Protected Area (Schutzgebiet). --Emeritus (talk) 23:10, 17 September 2013 (UTC)

The maps 1, 3 and 4 are exactly the same. The maps 1/3/4 and 2 show that the Golan heights, the West Bank including East Jerusalem and the Gaza strip are occupied by Israel. That's what File:Israel location map.svg shows by light grey, too. On the other hand Israel in the pre-1967 borders is shown in yellow. So this map doesn't show the Golan heights, the West Bank or the Gaza strip as a part of Israel. I took exactly the sources that you linked. NNW 21:06, 3 October 2013 (UTC)

Palestine and Syria are separate nations and require to be coloured as such on all maps, regardless of military invasion. You didn't include Iraq when you made File:USA location map.svg did you? Damn. Stop this. Can't stand this discussion anymore. NNW is just a map maker. He has chosen to depict one view on this geostrategical über-complicated region. He doesn't say it's the one and only map or the best map given any random context. He doesn't apply the maps in actual articles on Israel. But in my view, this map shows at least one feasible view based on sound principles and sources. Please stop telling others what is wrong or right. No matter how the map looks like: someone knows better. Let people chose the map they like best. Thus you sould create different alternative maps (File:Isreal location map (UN view).svg or so) so that users can chose the map they like best. What map to choose should be dicussed at the different talk pages. That's no decision that map makers should or can make. That's how I did it with several locator and administrative maps for Palestine, Israel, Syria (cf e.g.) and I feel that users appreciate having a choice. I don't care if my maps look different in hebrew and arabian Wikipedia. Maps need to follow NPOV just as much as text does. Currently this map is in the POV of an Israeli nationalist extremist, if this map is not corrected to be npov per the view held by the other 99% of the world I will have to remove this map from all wikis and ask for its deletion here on commons. Can you please point me to the commons npov/dispute resolution board so that I can bring this to editors who are willing to go by sources and not try to push nationalist ideology. Now, when they have already been deleted, the original contributor of this map that all others have been derived from [12] has posted the non-free map he used in its creation.[13] Could you please comment on whether the deletion has been warranted? Hello! File:Emona_in_ljubljana_osm.jpg is okay. The source information is too simple and wasn't even taken completely (the squares around the Forum are missing).

It is obvious that http://imgur.com/jGQSWEJ is the source for the Trieste maps. But I wouldn't vote for deletion. The original map is quite simple. sl:Slika:STO.png was drawn anew, the lines are much more generalized than the original map. River Mirna is new, two villages are missing, two villages are new, the positions of the names have changed, now the two zones are shown in different colours. I am expanding a list of powerplants in Norway (of which there are more than a thousand), and I find your maps very helpful. But a few regions are missing, there are only inferior .png files with no detail. So I would appreciate if you could make maps for Aust-Agder, Nord-Trøndelag, Oppland, and Telemark.
