Deleted Files
[edit]hello Mr. Mutter Erde, I am writing to ask you if by chance it could help me supporting some of my requests to restore files concerning a blocked user that has by name Глинистый сланец lately I tried to make some requests on Commons: Undeletion requests, but I can not find much support for the restoration, I noticed that recently you had changed a picture that was part of that 'blocked users, well I tell you that if you go to see the page of commons undeletion, you will notice a long list of files where few files have been restored, be aware that the may of files uploaded by this user are all portraits, photographs, and paintings of the era, the lience of which is only the license of the PD. I would like to submit to you some uploads of this user, so to realize what files they are dealing with since all have been deleted, and that I am trying to ask for the restoration.
currently I on the page of Commons: Undeletion requests I have three requests if they are not supported enough, if you want to make a jump I'll tell you immediately their number and the current title they have, so you will not be wrong to see them:
- title 1 and list: (1.1 ile:King Victor Emmanuel III and Prince Amhà Selassié.png)
- title 2 and list: (1.5 PD-100)
- title 3 and list: (1.17 File:Inaugurazione della XXVI Legislatura.png)

- Hi, I have seen that User:Yann distincts between a worthy upload and a less worthy uploader as here. So I would ask him to undelete your files (But please: Only files with a good source and a good description). Regards Mutter Erde (talk) 06:21, 19 January 2018 (UTC)

Conrad Kiesel - "A portrait of Lola Montez" (laut Christie's)

Conrad Kiesel - ungenanntes Modell (Spanish Lady)
-
Verbesserungen immer willkommen. Grüße Mutter Erde (talk) 08:31, 3 March 2018 (UTC)

[edit]hello Mr. Mutter Erde, I am writing to ask you if you happen to remove the watermarks of gettyimages or alamy ???--Глнстый Карой (talk) 20:29, 20 May 2018 (UTC)
- Hi, I can't remove watermarks from Getty mages. But you can get a smaller version without Getty watermark if you know the title of a Getty image, for example: >Emanuele III with King Gustavo in Stockholm<. Put this phrase into the google mask, take the first getty entry and now you have to be quick. Click on this image in the gallery. Now you have one or two seconds to make a screenshot without watermark. If you are not quick enough, repeat the whole procedure. And don't forget to put your Getty file into the category Category:Media licensed by Getty Images. CAUTION: Most of the Getty Images are still under copyright. Hi, Mutter Erde, I was wondering if this is Charlotte von Lengefeld? Lotje (talk) 15:50, 14 June 2018 (UTC)
- Hi Lotje, there is a lot of confusion about some women named Charlotte in Schiller's life. But it's simple, look at the year 1783 in http://www.friedrich-schiller-archiv.de/biografie-schiller/kurzbiografie-1782-1789/ (with picture of sweet little sixteen Charlotte von Wolzogen) and the year 1788 (with picture of his wife Charlotte von Lengefeld). Hello Mutter Erde, I have a question which I am very sure you will be able to answer: though the name of the dolmen in English is Spinsters' Rock, in German language, the article is about Spinster's Rock. Is that correct? Should the article be renamed as per the English spelling? Thank you for your time. Lotje (talk) 07:07, 30 June 2018 (UTC)
- Hi Lotje, I have found a third spelling, without an apostrophe. It is from a British website, see http://www.pastscape.org.uk/hob.aspx?hob_id=445766 . Sorry, but my English is not good enough to judge this case. ː-). I would ask on the talk site of Spinsters' Rock. Good luck Mutter Erde (talk) 13:15, 1 July 2018 (UTC)

Source of derivative work is not properly indicated: File:SPIEGEL-Bestseller vom 15. September 2018.JPG
[edit]This file may be deleted. |
A file that you have uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, File:SPIEGEL-Bestseller vom 15. September 2018.JPG, is a derivative work, containing an "image within an image". Examples of such works would include a photograph of a sculpture, a scan of a magazine cover, or a map that has been altered from the original. In each of these cases, the rights of the creator of the original must be considered, as well as those of the creator of the derivative work.
While the description page states who made this derivative work, it currently doesn't specify who created the original work, so the overall copyright status is unclear. If you did not create the original work depicted in this image, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. Please edit the file description and add the missing information, or the file may be deleted. If you created the original content yourself, enter this information as the source. If someone else created the content, the source should be the address to the web page where you found it, the name and ISBN of the book you scanned it from, or similar. You should also name the author, provide verifiable information to show that the content is in the public domain or has been published under a free license by its author, and add an appropriate template identifying the public domain or licensing status, if you have not already done so. Please add the required information for this and other files you have uploaded before adding more files. If you need assistance, please ask at the help desk. Thank you! |

@Mutter Erde: has the word Preisrätsel been spelled Preisrähtsel in the past, or was that done with a purpose you think? Lotje (talk) 13:08, 2 January 2019 (UTC)
- Hi Lotje, in Germany they decided in 1907 to renew some spellings, for example to eliminate the "h" in Thier (today Tier) or in That (today Tat) . I guess together with the Austrian linguists. So, Preisrähtsel was then (before 1907) correct, but today it is a mistake. Regards Mutter Erde (talk) 13:18, 2 January 2019 (UTC)

You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. Scans from UB Heidelberg
[edit]Hi ME, sorry to bother you, but some of your uploads in Category:Herwarth Walden, ein Lebensbild, 1963 coming from [2] could probably be copyvios. Obviously, you adopted the license CC-BY-SA from en:Heidelberg University Library where the book was scanned [3] - but in this case the book‘s author died 1975 and some of the photographs and drawings are not old enough, too. I‘ve notified the librarians that they might have some illegal material in their published scans. Ongoing discussion is here [4] on dewiki (german language). (I’m aware that you have been blocked on dewiki and must not comment there, but at least you should know about it.) Greetings, —MBq (talk) 15:22, 9 March 2019 (UTC)

[edit]Dear M, Erde.
Just curious. Are both these images free from 1917? Nell Walden died in 1975 but in the second image, no photographer is stated. If its an anonymous photographer, it could be OK but I'm not a legal expert. If you think its not OK, please consider filing a DR on them both as the uploader. Thank You, --Leoboudv (talk) 22:14, 20 March 2019 (UTC)
Somehow I wonder if this image is not free now. Best, --Leoboudv (talk) 22:41, 20 March 2019 (UTC)
- Hi Leoboudv, I have put a DR on the first file. For the second photo Nell and Herwarth Walden (1878-1941) have changed their seats. So we can keep the second file. The third file has to go, because Edmund Kesting died in 1970. Regards Mutter Erde (talk) 07:33, 21 March 2019 (UTC)
- Thanks for your kind reply. Best Regards, --Leoboudv (talk) 18:21, 21 March 2019 (UTC)
These 3 images below

- File:Paul Fort 1914.jpg
Dear Mutter Erde,
If these three 1914-1916 images are OK for Commons, please consider changing the license. The author is unknown. I think it is OK but the license may be wrong. Thank You, --Leoboudv (talk) 22:56, 27 March 2019 (UTC)
- Hi Leoboudv, thank you for kind reminding. I have changed the licences, furthermore for File:Peter Altenberg im Sommer 1906.jpg and File:William Wauer 1919.jpg. I hope, that was OK. Regards Mutter Erde (talk) 06:57, 28 March 2019 (UTC)
- Done: All images marked now. Best Regards, --Leoboudv (talk) 07:58, 28 March 2019 (UTC)

Gruß --Z thomas 08:20, 9 May 2019 (UTC)

@Mutter Erde: thank you for your recent uploads! I was considering a Category:Hans Koch (laywer) or Category:Hans Koch (1893–1945) (preferably) instead of the Category:Hans Koch (jurist) because of the English language to be used on commons. What do you think? Lotje (talk) 05:48, 7 May 2019 (UTC)
- Good Morning Lotje. Good idea to change the new category. Looking at https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hans_Koch with 2 more 'jurists', I would prefer Category:Hans Koch (laywer). Regards Mutter Erde (talk) 07:06, 7 May 2019 (UTC)

Feininger
[edit]was hat c:File:"L'oncle de l'Europe" devant l'objectif caricatural - images anglaises, françaises, italiennes, allemandes, autrichiennes, hollandaises, belges, suisses, espagnoles, portugaises, américaines, etc. (14590087948).jpg mit Feininger zu tun? --Goesseln (talk) 21:37, 26 June 2019 (UTC)

Important message for file movers
[edit]A community discussion has been closed where the consensus was to grant all file movers the suppressredirect
user right. This will allow file movers to not leave behind a redirect when moving files and instead automatically have the original file name deleted. Policy never requires you to suppress the redirect, suppression of redirects is entirely optional.
Possible acceptable uses of this ability:
- To move recently uploaded files with an obvious error in the file name where that error would not be a reasonable redirect. For example: moving "Sheep in a tree.jpg" to "Squirrel in a tree.jpg" when the image does in fact depict a squirrel.
- To perform file name swaps.
- When the original file name contains vandalism. (File renaming criterion #5)
Please note, this ability should be used only in certain circumstances and only if you are absolutely sure that it is not going to break the display of the file on any project. Redirects should never be suppressed if the file is in use on any project. When in doubt, leave a redirect. If you forget to suppress the redirect in case of file name vandalism or you are not fully certain if the original file name is actually vandalism, leave a redirect and tag the redirect for speedy deletion per G2.
The malicious or reckless breaking of file links via the suppressredirect
user right is considered an abuse of the file mover right and is grounds for immediate revocation of that right. This message serves as both a notice that you have this right and as an official warning. Questions regarding this right should be directed to administrators. --Majora (talk) 21:36, 7 November 2019 (UTC)
