If you dont know the author/copyright holder you cant obtain written permission from the author/copyright holder. It is not important that you need the photograph for an article, fair use or something like this is not accepted here. --Martin H. (talk) 10:22, 2 September 2009 (UTC)

Dear Martin H. This file [1] is ok!! Look at the website: [2] there you can see the sentence about the copyright status in Czech language: Fotografie a materiály v této galerii jsou k dispozici k volnému využití v médiích a lze je veřejně reprodukovat bez nutnosti souhlasu Ministerstva zahraničních věcí ČR - pokud není výslovně uvedeno jinak. V případě dalšího mediálního využití fotografií uveďte zdroj. In English: Photographs and documents shown in this gallery are for free use, permission of Ministry of Foreign Affairs is not requested. Best regards --83.148.6.75 08:24, 2 September 2009 (UTC)

I think I mentioned "press license". Please search for "press license" in other project pages. Please see also Commons:Copyright tags#Other free tags - typically this licenses inlclude only the media and exclude derivative works.--Martin H. (talk) 10:17, 2 September 2009 (UTC)
There´s nothing about press! There´s only a word MEDIUM - in Czech language, it means all kinds of visual mediums, including newspapers, television, internet etc. --83.148.6.75 10:34, 2 September 2009 (UTC)
And thats not everyone and every purpose as required here. What about redistribution, what about archiving. What about derivative works. --Martin H. (talk) 10:35, 2 September 2009 (UTC)
My god, I said internet etc.!! MEDIUM may be book, magazine, archive, library.........you have to look at Czech-English dictionary, if you don´t speak Czech. --83.148.6.75 10:41, 2 September 2009 (UTC)
If the case is so clear it would be very easy to get a simple confirmation of that status with Commons:Email templates. Otherwise the images are like all the other (including some very prominent institutions) --Martin H. (talk) 10:56, 2 September 2009 (UTC)

Deletion of LUBILOSA and Green Muscle logos

Hi Martin, thanks for leaving a note on the OTRS noticeboard. The items have now been restored. ChriKo (talk) 10:05, 2 September 2009 (UTC)

Your welcome, im sorry for the inconvenience. --Martin H. (talk) 10:18, 2 September 2009 (UTC)

On my computer, LUBILOSA page is still missing images, why were they deleted please? Roy Bateman (talk) 16:58, 2 September 2009 (UTC)

Please bypass your browser cache. --Martin H. (talk) 17:10, 2 September 2009 (UTC)

OK - thanks - but why did you feel it was appropriate to delete the images? Roy Bateman (talk) 19:33, 2 September 2009 (UTC)

I dont know why you ask me this question, I neither deleted the images as you can see in the logs 1 2 nor thought they are appropriate for deletion. I marked them as missing permission and informed the uploader about this using the templates I linked here simply following the procedure in Commons:Permission. --Martin H. (talk) 19:45, 2 September 2009 (UTC)

The forged map

Good Evening. Can you look at this file? Thank you.--F a r i k 12:07, 3 September 2009 (UTC)

I dont know enough about the history and the historic borders of this region. Only the deletion request is not with a valid reason as long as the map represents any theorie, opinion or something like that that makes the map usefull in any educational context. Also disputed borders need illustration in their disputed status. --Martin H. (talk) 18:19, 4 September 2009 (UTC)

Arilang say Hi

Hi, it is very unfortunate that Time/Life refuse to let commons use those beautiful pictures. Well, since there is nothing we can do, I have come across this website:http://www.asu.edu/lib/archives/smedforeign.htm#top

an photo archives of Arizona State University, which contain many rarely seen Chinese Yan'an communist photos. Could you help me to find out if these images are in public domain or not? Arilang Arilang talk 20:46, 3 September 2009 (UTC)

Rather difficult, the photograps are created by w:en:Agnes Smedley, I assume not as a work for the newspaper but on her own. The photographs are published in various newspapers according to that website, the photographs from the german or british are not public domain, photographs publshed in US newspapers may be public domain for a reason from COM:L#United States if they were published without a copyright notice (if this applies for photographs not created as wfh) and not published elsewhere befor or at the same time. The first step would be to find the original publications, not a random website. Without knowing the original publication you cant say anything. --Martin H. (talk) 18:30, 4 September 2009 (UTC)

Could you pls check his images pls? I got troubles explainig him that stuff, and now it seems that he reverted you once again. Thx Masur (talk) 18:03, 7 September 2009 (UTC)

The source is corrected, so the images indeed come form a Finnish government document (in pdf format), so everything is ok. I will remove the invalid cc-licenses later. --Martin H. (talk) 16:49, 8 September 2009 (UTC)

Hi can I upload this photos? [4][5][6][7][8] — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kpo!09 (talk • contribs) 15:36, 13 September 2009 (UTC)

Do you have the photographers written permission? See Commons:Primeros pasos/Selección de licencia. --Martin H. (talk) 15:40, 13 September 2009 (UTC)

How can I find de autor of photos in galleries like that? --Gaston S/Kpo! 09 (talk) 18:29, 13 September 2009 (UTC)

If the author is not written at the site I suggest ask the website operator on who the photographer is and how to contact the photographer. --Martin H. (talk) 18:31, 13 September 2009 (UTC)

Request for deletions

Hi, since you're an active admin, would you please delete incorrectly named images in the list[9]? Thanks.--Caspian blue 22:46, 13 September 2009 (UTC)

I would, but some questions: you say incorrectly named - where are the correctly named? What about the OTRS pending? --Martin H. (talk) 22:49, 13 September 2009 (UTC)
I have not uploaded them yet, because I've used "Commonist", so even if I rename them and upload them, the software will just shows me an "error" message, failing to upload them. So that's why the incorrect files should be deleted first. I have not send the permission email to OTRS yet, because I should provide correct file names for OTRS reviewers. Moreover, as you see, "OTRS pending" is not the same as "OTRS permission" (at this moment).--Caspian blue 23:09, 13 September 2009 (UTC)
Of course I know, I will delete them to allow you the correct upload with communist. Just to make sure that you not give wrong filelinks to OTRS and confuse them ;) --Martin H. (talk) 23:11, 13 September 2009 (UTC)
done, if you want to have the list deleted please use {{Speedy}}. --Martin H. (talk) 23:15, 13 September 2009 (UTC)
Thanks. In fact, the list is still needed to prevent me from making the same stupid mistake (to check on how many images I have to upload.. ^^;;) --Caspian blue 23:18, 13 September 2009 (UTC)
ok :) --Martin H. (talk) 23:21, 13 September 2009 (UTC)

Image restoration request

Dear Admin Martin,

You deleted this image here: File:Tidal Pool Nude 2.jpg for having an incorrect license but according to the internet image archive the license was licensed freely in the past at/near upload here

While I am not a fan of such images, they were likely uploaded freely and you should restore it and pass it citing this evidence...since you deleted it. This image is discussed on Village pump here on 'images not found' by Carl Lindberg. Thank You, --Leoboudv (talk) 00:03, 14 September 2009 (UTC)

Ethiopian photos

Dear Martin H.,

Why did you add "File has no source" on File:Asrate Kassa.jpg ? I clearly mentionned the photo was shown at a Memorial, in Addis Abeba. Vob08 (Talk) 14:21 14 september 2009

Answered below the no source information on your disc. --Martin H. (talk) 12:30, 14 September 2009 (UTC)
Ok, I will add more informations but the photographer name is unkown and Ethiopian has a civil code and a special article about photographic works: Check article 1662 under title XI. Vob08 (Talk) 16:48 14 september 2009
Actually, the civil code is still enforced in Ethiopia, even if the proclamation is more recent. The civil law is more precise about the photographic copyrights. Vob08 (Talk) 17:27 14 september 2009
Well, the civil code doesn't say that photographic works are not protected, it gives a particular category of these works who where created before 1974 and thus were under civil code law. I don't think, there is no contradiction, I think we should see both texts as complementary and not as one totally amending the other. Vob08 (Talk) 18:49 14 september 2009

I just added informations on the file. I hope it will be enough, if not I can always add something else more helpful. Vob08 (Talk) 19:32 14 september 2009

Well, I see the file was deleted. What informations were missing ? Vob08 (Talk) 21:40 15 september 2009
Ok, well I could give you a picture of the whole memorial to prove you that I actually went there (and that it took me a lot of time to take every picture in photo...). I'm quite disapointed I must say, I thought that publicly shown photos and accessible freely to everybody would be accepted on wikicommons. About the photographer and the date I am sorry I couldn't find those informations, the first because those kind of public photos (government personnalities) were not usually signed by their authors at that time and the second (the date) is vague because once again, I can only say that those pictures were taken before their deaths (since they were killed in 1974). Dura lex, sed lex... Do you think there are any other ways I could put those pictures on wikipedia ? Vob08 (Talk) 1:14 16 september 2009 (CET)

Hi, the image was released by the business director of goal.com, which makes goal.com the source regardless of whether a deep link exists. I will remove the notice, feel free to nominate for deletion if you disagree. Regards Hekerui (talk) 12:25, 14 September 2009 (UTC)

--Martin H. Sorry, This is the first time ive ever tried to edit a photo in wikipedia. this interface is extremely confusing and notvery user friendly. i had multiple licensing options to choose from and i didnt understand them. clicking on them sends me to more wikipedia entries. i saw that my picture was up and figured everything was okay. I dont want to do anything unofficial here. 75.142.211.107 02:07, 18 September 2009 (UTC)

Thats no problem, you can easily edit the image description page. The only requirement is a correct author/sourcing and a free license. A free license allows for free reuse including commercial use, the copyright holder must specify the license, he must do so in written form. --Martin H. (talk) 02:08, 18 September 2009 (UTC)

--Martin H. (talk) 12:04, 19 September 2009 (UTC)
Hallo Martin, könntest du konsequenterweise auch File:Deniz Gezmiş-2.jpg und File:Deniz Gezmiş-RZ.jpg löschen. Vielen Dank und Gruß, -- Hukukçu (talk) 16:39, 28 September 2009 (UTC)

Your assistance please...

You placed a {{Copyvio}} tag on File:Guantanamo captives in January 2002.jpg.

This famous, iconic photo was taken by Shane T. McCoy, a CPO in the USN.

Could you make a greater effort to actually read the existing discussions before you slap on a {{Copyvio}} tag? Geo Swan (talk) 15:52, 20 September 2009 (UTC)

I got your reply.
Note: the text of your copyvio tag clearly says it is only supposed to be used in obvious cases. This is not an obvious case. In fact you are dead wrong. McCoy was assigned to Combat Camera, an elite unit that took secret pictures not for the public but the Pentagon brass. He was the only photographer allowed that day at Camp X-Ray, the first of a series of prison camps that across six years would hold and interrogate more than 750 captives, leaving 275 there today.
You won't find images from this sequence on any .mil sites -- because the DoD soon regreted releasing them. You can find lots of DoD spokesmen trying to say that conditions are much more humane that the dog cages shown in these photos.
Please make more responsible use of tags. Geo Swan (talk) 16:11, 20 September 2009 (UTC)
Solved. Give correct and full information please directly, the sourcing to corbis was totally unnecessary and inaccurate. See Commons:First steps/Quality and description. --Martin H. (talk) 16:31, 20 September 2009 (UTC)

Hi Martin H, with respect to File:Mobotu y Juan Pablo II.jpg and File:Adolfo Majano Junta El Salvador.jpg files, in the newspaper Clarín, the author is described literally as "Rad. de UPI" but I don´t know what that means. I just send an email to the drafting of Clarín consulting what is it, see if they respond. I am not sure what you tell me about the license. If it was published in Argentina for over 25 years, should not already have expired copyright in that work, whoever its author?

Nocover

Hi. I was wondering why you had to remove File:Nocover.svg from New Divide (link). Isn't the Dutch Wikipedia allowed to use Commons files? 85.144.160.104 22:01, 20 September 2009 (UTC)

Hi, why not, isnt the dutch Wikipedia a Wiki and everyone can edit? I gave my reason with my edit summary, the nl.wp does not allow fair use, commons not allows fair use, it will be hard or impossible to obtain written permission on free commercial reuse for an image of that cover from the copyright holder, so the placeholder is only distracting and useless. --Martin H. (talk) 22:06, 20 September 2009 (UTC)

I initially had some doubts about the exact origin of the Mao/Chiang photo, but it's definitely a chinese document, and it is being used as such on various official websites of the People's Republic of China (like this one. Hence, it falls in the PD-China category. Best, JJ Georges (talk) 09:46, 21 September 2009 (UTC)

File:Gruposgae_arbol.gif

I made the graphic Gruposgae_arbol.gif for the spanish wikipedia article SGAE, and you deleted it. Please, restore the file and the disappeared embed tag in the article. --Libero (talk) 11:49, 24 September 2009 (UTC)

The image was marked at missing permission on June 7, 2009 an deleted on July 18, I deleted the image because no evidence was given that you have written permission to use the SAGE logo under the license cc-by-sa-3.0. --Martin H. (talk) 11:53, 24 September 2009 (UTC)
Well, resend me the graphic (made by me) and I'll clean the logo. --Libero (talk) 18:38, 4 October 2009 (UTC)

Shepard Fairey at the Smithsonian Photo

It wasn't my intent to include a derivative work; only to feature Fairey unveiling his work at the Smithsonian -- perhaps this photo would be allowable? http://www.flickr.com/photos/nostri-imago/3208491834/ --The lorax (talk) 06:56, 26 September 2009 (UTC)

Renames

Thanks for the ship renames. BTW would you rename File:Locarno.JPG too? It needs it. -- User:Docu at 08:28, 26 September 2009 (UTC)

Good. Thank you. -- User:Docu at 09:38, 26 September 2009 (UTC)
Your welcome, you have many rename requests pending ;) --Martin H. (talk) 09:38, 26 September 2009 (UTC)
Not really, because I didn't like the old system and was afraid to approve others moves by merely categorizing images (Commons_talk:MediaMoveBot/CheckPage#Request_to_be_added_to_the_list). The Locarno thing was needed tough. -- User:Docu at 09:57, 26 September 2009 (UTC)
Ah, ok. The file moving function is sooooooo great - finaly we have it. --Martin H. (talk) 10:00, 26 September 2009 (UTC)
Looks good, but you might want to de-select "Leave a redirect behind" more frequently. -- User:Docu at 10:56, 26 September 2009 (UTC)
No, I log my renamings in a file on my computer and I will first delink them with Commons Delinker. The redirects can stay a while, It is unclear if we should leave them in genereal or not. Only files recently uploaded and never used anywhere can be moved without a redirect. --Martin H. (talk) 10:58, 26 September 2009 (UTC)
True there is the Commons Delinker step one shouldn't forget about. With "can" I guess you mean "IMO should". Commons:File renaming doesn't really say anything about this. -- User:Docu at 11:05, 26 September 2009 (UTC)
Yes, it would be a good idea to include it. At best we should have a bot tracking the move log. Some images are used on wikis under wrong identifications and a replacement will make informations incorrect, but thats not possible to prevent.--Martin H. (talk) 11:08, 26 September 2009 (UTC)
For this request, we tried to use commons delinker to orphan it, but apparently it doesn't work that way. The only solution I can think of, would be to temporarily delete the file, let the automated commons delinker process to its work and then undelete and rename the file. In the meantime, I suppose the person in the picture was of some use .. -- User:Docu at 11:13, 26 September 2009 (UTC)
With a proper deletion reason for the temporary deletion it is indeed the best way to have the image removed from all Wikis. Delinker waits 15 minutes. --Martin H. (talk) 11:16, 26 September 2009 (UTC)
Even better solution. For other pics, maybe we should add the procedure to "file renaming". -- User:Docu at 11:47, 26 September 2009 (UTC)

to be renamed

Hi!

Could you rename this?

Pending couple months.

http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Mount_od_St._Ilija,_Pelje%C5%A1ac--Anto (talk) 13:53, 26 September 2009 (UTC)

Of course, a simple typo. If you want to propose an undisputed rename, e.g. a typo or wrong capitalization you can ask for rename on User talk:CommonsDelinker/commands or simply replace the category content with {{seecat|Mount of St. Ilija, Pelješac}}. --Martin H. (talk) 17:00, 27 September 2009 (UTC)

AutoWikiBrowser

--Martin H. (talk) 16:58, 27 September 2009 (UTC)

✓ Done, Vollständigkeit habe ich geprüft. --Martin H. (talk) 13:42, 28 September 2009 (UTC)

Vielen Dank, Martin. --The Evil IP address (talk) 16:44, 28 September 2009 (UTC)

Re: Deletion requests!

Thank you for the pointer about the copyvio template. I'm used to en.wikipedia, where everything has a db- prefix on the speedy deletion template. I'll keep that in mind for future use. C.Fred (talk) 21:16, 26 September 2009 (UTC)

Thanks, one of 170 renames I did, so this may happen. I also delinked [11][12][13] them or replaced this one even by hand. --Martin H. (talk) 16:54, 27 September 2009 (UTC)

Absolutely, see the history. --Martin H. (talk) 17:52, 27 September 2009 (UTC)
P.s.: Oh, if you refer to an required update (instructions, see above): No, at the moment not. Im en-2, it takes me to long to write this instructions. I have a look at the log and if something goes wrong with the renaming I will bring it to discussion. The last time we started discussion the rename was deactivated ;) --Martin H. (talk) 17:59, 27 September 2009 (UTC)
Ok. I just noticed you changes some chinese (?) names to English. It uploader request we do almost everything. Otherwise I thing we should make sure the move is in accordance with the rules. At least until we agree to change them. --MGA73 (talk) 18:05, 27 September 2009 (UTC)
Good point, It is - I take it - that most non-latin letters are considered cryptic filenames and there are users/reusers with a technical equipment that not allows them to reuse this images whereas a non-latin user will not have this problems with latin filenames. Thats what {{Rename}} says ("The name of this media object is misspelled, incomplete, misleading, cryptic, or does not conform to an established naming convention") and what was (and still is and in my opinion should be) practice on Commons. However, I dont like it that files are renamed to english, thats simply because of the user majority on Commons. See the User:BetacommandBot/log for older requests. --Martin H. (talk) 18:15, 27 September 2009 (UTC)
Anyway it is great that you help to rename! Just be careful not to make uploaders angry with no good reason :-) --MGA73 (talk) 18:17, 27 September 2009 (UTC)

This move

You moved File:Scott Thompson in Los Angeles.jpg. If you look at http://www.flickr.com/photos/alan-light/223188078/ you can see the text "Taken on August 23, 2006". Please tell me why you think you know the date better than the user on Flickr? --MGA73 (talk) 20:26, 27 September 2009 (UTC)

Please take a look at Category:Alan Light (where I made ~600 edits, so I know the images): This are old photographs of prominent people Alan Light made during the 70s-90s, the date is the date of digitalization - as always with Alan Lights photographs on Flickr the date is incorrect, take a random example from the category. --Martin H. (talk) 20:28, 27 September 2009 (UTC)
Ok. Thank you :-) --MGA73 (talk) 20:31, 27 September 2009 (UTC)

Indonesia images

Hello! Thanks for your notice about my uploads. I agree that File:Indonesia candidates 2004 presidential election.jpg and File:Indonesia 2004 presidential candidate dialogue Mega Amien.jpg were hastily added into the Commons without my understanding the full source of the photographs. I don't oppose those deletions. I also do not mind seeing File:Habibie oath of office.jpg deleted as its use has been deprecated by a newer file. (See deletion request talk page)

With regards to the following files:

These come from an official government publication (OCLC 53403348) with no copyright notice. For clarification, the listed publisher Lembaga Informasi Nasional was a government agency that has since been absorbed into the Ministry of Communication and Information.

Arsonal (talk) 02:27, 28 September 2009 (UTC)

These are photographs created by employees of the National Information Agency. If a publication used photographs from a news agency (which happened in the past because most of the historical images were taken by the Indonesian Press and Photo Service), they were fully credited to the respective news agencies. You still see this in some government publications. File:Vice President Hamzah Haz.jpg is an official portrait of the Vice President, so I don't see how anyone other than a government employee could have taken it. File:Akbar Tanjung and Hamzah Haz.jpg was taken in a closed session of the legislature. These photos may range in the time they were taken, but they were taken after Hamzah Haz had come into office. —Arsonal (talk) 18:04, 28 September 2009 (UTC)
I answered on your talkpage. --Martin H. (talk) 21:01, 5 October 2009 (UTC)

Hi. You asked me to undelete the original file in ruwiki. I can just upload a higher resolution version here on Commons and then you'll rename the file so that it will be without "1280px-". Would it be enough? --Blacklake (talk) 17:56, 28 September 2009 (UTC)

Yes, very good idea. --Martin H. (talk) 17:58, 28 September 2009 (UTC)

Just to be clear

You left me a note pointing out I used the wrong deletion request for a file (Tina Charles cropped.jpg). I went to do it correctly, but I don't see the file now,so I'm assuming you or someone went ahead and deleted, and are just reminding me to use the Commons deletion procedure in the future. No need to respond, unless there's something I still need to do.--Sphilbrick (talk) 18:34, 28 September 2009 (UTC)

As drawn by me are mine. So before you delete photos I ask that you review it. Thank you.--BeneharoMencey (talk) 18:11, 29 September 2009 (UTC)

The above was meant different to what you understood I think: It is no question that you violated copyrights, some of your uploads - if not all - where stolen from other websites under false authorship claims. You should rather refer to this wrong doing then to the maybe wrongly deleted images. I act precautionary and I have 0 tolerance to lies.
With "review" I mean your recent uplods. I still think this are stolen again from other websites and that you are again not the photographer as you claim. I have a reason to think so. --Martin H. (talk) 18:32, 29 September 2009 (UTC)

Armigeri_defensores_seniores.svg renaming/deletion

Hi, actually my first idea was to have this file renamed. But in the meantime I got some updates to do on it and was unable to load a new version, due to a bug somewhere. Eventually, creating a brand new file with the new content and the right name solved the two issues. I just omitted to change {{rename}} into {{badname}} in the old file, sorry for it. And thank you for having understood it in the right way! Vielen Dank. Fanfwah (talk) 13:00, 2 October 2009 (UTC)

Hi Bapti, the image originally comes from fr.wikipedia, w:fr:Fichier:AbujaStade.jpg and was deleted there because of missing source (log). Can you investigate this if any information regarding source was given? What should we do with the image? --Martin H. (talk) 01:21, 2 October 2009 (UTC)

Hi Martin,
After some investigations ;) I just added {{Nsd}} on File:AbujaStade.jpg because there is no source on fr.wikipedia (even a mention like "own work").
Cheers.--Bapti 16:11, 2 October 2009 (UTC)

Image deletion

The following image files of mine have been proposed for deletion: FrancescoQuinnastheGnostic.jpg & THE_GNOSTIC_poster.jpg

To which I will only respond with a shrug. When a related file (Image:FrancescoQuinn.jpg) was proposed for deletion I indeed provided a link to the production company at www.happytrailershd.com and producer Lance Miccio (not to mention Francesco Quinn being one of the partners) who are more than capable of verifying that I indeed am Robert Subiaga, user Storgodar. and indeed own the rights to this piece as not only writer but executive producer. (This information is also freely available on IMDB.) Yet it was deemed insufficient by the person proposing that deletion, who apparently couldn't be bothered to actually verify a source.

My attitude toward this is rather cavalier at this point. While it was my intent to freely share and not be overprotective of this intellectual property, I certainly am not "hurt" by Wikipedia's deletion of these images, especially when online sources exist (including existing links to this article) that are able to re-provide them. That is, verifiable sources, simply not ones that meet a now-bureaucratized procedure.

The irony of all this is that, as an educator and technical communications specialist for well over a decade, I eventually came up against the issue of how to see Wikipedia and was one of its earliest advocates. My advice was, so long as Wikipedia was taken with a grain of salt and not as a definitive, formal, final source, the upside of open-sourcing was that previously difficult-to-find information was flowing freely. I myself was astonished and pleased by this, and used Wikipedia as a "first reference" of choice, albeit subject to verification by more reputable means.

The downsides of the open-source approach do, however, go together by necessity with the upsides. Wikipedia was once the cheeky upstart who, for all its faults, had a valid argument that it filled an important niche in the overall quest for truth. Now it emulates the manner of those it once claimed to rebel against--and not even nearly as well. (At least Brittanica utilizes only true experts in its process, while Wikipedia is rife with "editors" for whom the willingness to take on the role is the main qualification.) Come to think of it, while I may be saddened seeing my images taken down from this page, given my profession these kinds of "controversies" will give me plenty of material for professional commentary.

Again, my response is a shrug. If you really want to know if I'm who I say I am and have these rights, contact Miccio and Happy Trailers. If, on the other hand, as in the user handling my earlier deletion, the truth of the matter doesn't actually matter, do as you will.

Long text for a simple requirement. See dave pages answer in Commons:Deletion requests/Image:FrancescoQuinn.jpg. --Martin H. (talk) 19:17, 2 October 2009 (UTC)

I've added a link to the image on Wikipedia and changed the permission to CC license. I've now got a TUSC account and hopefully this shouldn't happen again. Will look through any other images in my gallery and check their licensing. Here is the link for the article where I first saw the image: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hindu_temples

Thanks. --Sluffs (talk) 14:14, 3 October 2009 (UTC)

It is only with examples by more experienced Wikipedians do new editors learn. Thanks for the correction and I'll read up on the big license migration. I don't know the providence of this image but I think that if its original purpose was for commercial use on a website or publication that sought to promote this temple, then they would have taken the photo on a sunny day. It's dark clouds and rain soaked pavement suggests to me that this photo was taken with no thought of commercial publication.

-- A.Fiebig (talk) 18:15, 3 October 2009 (UTC)
