Please give images good descriptions
[edit]
I noticed you've uploaded Image:Rachel Stevens.jpg and I thought I should draw your attention to a common error.
Please give some thought to writing a good description of uploaded images. This ensures that they can be used. It also helps those that review and improve categories do a better job, which also ensures that images will get used in novel and interesting ways. Thanks, and happy editing! - Appreciate the message. I was looking into getting Image:Rachel Stevens holding right boobie.jpg renamed, and was advised to upload the image under a new name, re-using the original description page's text. Apologies if this causes any inconvenience. Luna Santin (talk) 01:10, 22 September 2008 (UTC)
Tip: Categorizing images
[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.
[[Category:Category name]]
For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:
[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]
This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.CategorizationBot (talk) 10:46, 14 August 2010 (UTC)

Copyright definition
[edit]Copyright means "I am the creator of this work, so I own the intellectual property rights to it. If you want to reproduce it in any other way, first seek permission from me. And when reproducing my work, be honest and admit that it is not yours. Do NOT claim it as your own, that is stealing intelletual property from me, the creator, and this is against the law. I will file a lawsuit if you steal the work from me."
I completely understand what copyright is. So can you please unblock me on the English Wiki? Fangusu (talk) 03:56, 15 August 2011 (UTC)
