Einfach danke

File:Stema e Gjakovës.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.
If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues. |

Some stuff from 2018
Hello.
Unfortunately some old stuff in our happy new year. Can you please extract and save technical data from this thing under this request? The only action of the account is due to expire in few days, if not hours, whereas en.Wikipedia linked this account (both technically and behaviourally) to other accounts in the sock ring. If not done in time, we could lose a piece of evidence on structure of the ring. Incnis Mrsi (talk) 10:22, 3 January 2019 (UTC)

KrdBot
Hi! Can you adapt the layout of messages posted by your bot on deletion pages so it fit with the layout used by OTRS gadget? See example. Mentioning the file name can be useful. Thank you! --Arthur Crbz (talk) 14:20, 9 January 2019 (UTC)
- I can adapt the layout, but I prefer to add one line per ticket, not one line per file. Do you agree? --Krd 16:04, 9 January 2019 (UTC)
- Yes, no problem but I think it's important to mention name(s) of the file(s) in the edit. Some DR are about different files and we may receive permission only for one file.
- Btw, nice job with the bot to tag files which received permission email! Is it recent? --Arthur Crbz (talk) 21:41, 10 January 2019 (UTC)

Could you please process the deletion request: Commons:Deletion requests/Files in Category:Mitino O2. OTRS client initially asked to undelete files confirming all rights but after discussing another ticket and answers to my questions he doubted the previous one and asked to delete these files. I asked administrators for speedy deletion but instead the regular discussion was opened. And now I keep both tickets open to resolve this seemingly simple situation. --sasha (krassotkin) 09:10, 10 January 2019 (UTC)

About the share-alike license
Hello, Mr. Krd. If one studio added these words "grants the right to use any of our images (Content) to freely copy, distribute, and create derivate works without any written permission from us. The license is similar to share-alike license where all derivative products must inherit the same rights as Content and no new restrictions can be added to those works." on its website, could I share its photo directly through Commons under CC-BY-SA 3.0 ? -- 14.0.164.246 14:28, 22 January 2019 (UTC) (Newbie)
- No. The studio shall release the file under CC-BY-SA 3.0. If they have reasons not to do so, we have the same reasons not to accept the file. --Krd 15:43, 22 January 2019 (UTC)

Hi Krd, I saw that you delete the file Tegan Marie.jpeg due to insufficient permission for use on Commons and Copyright violation. I asked the copyright holder to use the email template generator (https://tools.wmflabs.org/relgen/) to generate a text and to send this in to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org in order for me to upload the picture here. Did you not found an email from the copyright holder or was there something missing about the email that was sent? Why did you rollback?
Hi Krd, I saw you rolled back my edit on the Relief Map of Brazil, where some troll in French nominated it for deletion. That map is used in thousands of articles on the wiki and clearly not a serious motivated deletion request. Is there no policy against such trolling affecting thousands of articles with one trolling click? Tisquesusa (talk) 14:49, 11 February 2019 (UTC)
- Dear Tisquesusa, you'd have to either remove the deletion request completely, or comment accordingly so that an admin can do it for you. Just blanking the deletion request page doesn't resolve any problem. --Krd 15:35, 11 February 2019 (UTC)

Delay numbers at Commons:OTRS/backlog
Hi,
I see you as the main supervisor of Commons:OTRS/backlog, which is a part of Template:OTRS pending/backlog and it defines the behavior of Template:OTRS pending.
The question arose from this discussion at ru-wiki in the aspect of how "official" the current number is. Besause it is claimed that the real delay is "200+ дней" (200+ days).
Overall my question is if it is possible/happens that a content with a provided OTRS ticket and {{OTRS pending}} would be deleted not because of a bad/dubious permission, but only because the OTRS ticked could not reviewed on time? If it is possible, then is this time directly dependent on Commons:OTRS/backlog data? --NeoLexx (talk) 14:09, 19 February 2019 (UTC)
- The data in Commons:OTRS/backlog in created from th permissions-commons queue only, so it mostly affects tickets in English. It may be that the backlog in other languages is longer.
- All tickets that have the files specified in the permissions e-mail in a machine readable way will automatically converted to OTRS-received by Krdbot, so I don't see any reason to keep files with OTRS-pending longer than currently. --Krd 14:23, 19 February 2019 (UTC)
- Thank you for your prompt answer. I dare to ask a few more questions:
- • Is this possible to know from somewhere the exact backlog in Russian and its dynamics (similar to English)?
- • If I understand correctly, {{OTRS pending}} is attached only to {{OTRS pending/backlog}} for its behavior switch thus only your numbers are important. Irrespectively to what country contributors are, what language do they speak and what language do they choose for OTRS-letter — the red banner "No OTRS permission since" gets placed on their contributions based on your information only.
So backlogs in other languages have only theoretical but not practical value (obviously I am talking only in respect of OTRS-pending contributions, not about the OTRS team work as such). Do I understand the mechanics properly? - • "I don't see any reason to keep files with OTRS-pending longer than currently" - 1) does it mean that in case of a machine readable form of the provided permission the contribution may be deleted only in case of a wrong / false / dubious permission — but not just because the OTRS team did not manage to review the permission in the indicated by you amount of days?
2) does it mean that in case of a non-machine readable form of the provided permission the contribution may be deleted just because the OTRS team did not manage to review the permission in the indicated by you amount of days?
- Sorry if asking too many question but I see it as very important to know for all current and potentional contributors over the OTRS system. --NeoLexx (talk) 15:57, 19 February 2019 (UTC)
- 1. Tickets that have OTRS-received will likely get looked into by the patrolling admin and perhaps kept. On the other hand, anybody could say OTRS-pending and we don't even know if anything is sent at all, so files without permission should not be kept longer just because we have an backlog.
- 2. We can also create the numbers for other queues. Not a so big deal. But we should in any case not start to manage the backlog, but manage the tickets. If you think you are qualified, please apply today. If you know anybody, please encourage them to apply. --Krd 18:14, 19 February 2019 (UTC)

Request
Could you please delete Andesfællesskabet? User:Saederup92 translated the title and nothing else and has left it for ten days now. It's in the list at New Page Patrol which I keep an eye on and since I am not a translation admin, I can't do anything about it. Thanks, . Jim . . . (Jameslwoodward) (talk to me) 13:43, 16 April 2019 (UTC)
- Oops. I seem to have forgotten about it for a while. I apologise for that. Saederup92 (talk) 14:03, 16 April 2019 (UTC)
- Saederup92, that's true, but since galleries should have very little text -- not more than one sentence -- a translation is probably not necessary and this one is out of scope as it stands. . Jim . . . (Jameslwoodward) (talk to me) 15:13, 16 April 2019 (UTC)
- @Jameslwoodward: The page appears as red link. Is this already resolved? --Krd 16:30, 16 April 2019 (UTC)
- Sorry no -- it's weird. The page title on the page is Andesfællesskabet, but to get there you must use Andean Community/da. I didn't know that was possible -- as far as I can see, it is not a redirect. . Jim . . . (Jameslwoodward) (talk to me) 20:20, 16 April 2019 (UTC)
- I'm not sure if that's ok but I have simply deleted that page. Please check if everything looks good now. --Krd 06:13, 17 April 2019 (UTC)
- Thanks. As I said above, it's not clear that translations of galleries are useful -- they typically have only one sentence and that can be handled easily on a single page. . Jim . . . (Jameslwoodward) (talk to me) 18:25, 19 April 2019 (UTC)

Another request to check OTRS user activity
Hi, I'm sorry to bother you again but I feel that this issue should be looked into. A while ago I asked if it would be possible to check whether or not OTRS user Para was still active, and you said that there are semiautomatic checks so everything should be fine. To my knowledge we are now in such a situation in the Finnish WP that we have only two users with access to permissions-fi. One of them is an admin, but he's a very new OTRS user and I haven't noticed him solving any tickets yet, at least publically. The other user is Para, who hasn't edited the Finnish WP since 2016 or any other projects in a long time, so it doesn't seem likely that they're involved in OTRS anymore either. Would it be possible to check whether Para's access to the queues is appropriate at this time? We recently lost an experienced OTRS user and if the admin hadn't requested access around the same time, I believe that Para would've been the only Finnish user with access to the permissions queue. -kyykaarme (talk) 08:14, 1 May 2019 (UTC)
- Dear Kyykaarme. OTRS inactivity is defined as having not handled any tickets in the last 6 months in any queue. We cannot force agents to be active in specific queues they have access to, and removing agents isn't any solution to get tickets done. If there are qualified candidates, please encourage them to apply for OTRS access. --Krd 09:34, 1 May 2019 (UTC)
- Ok, thanks for the reply. Would you have advice on what our options are if the new OTRS user quits, can the permissions-fi queue be closed if that happens? Hopefully that won't happen, but if it does, there will be nobody answering the tickets. The community has been aware of the OTRS user shortage for about a year but nobody else has volunteered. -kyykaarme (talk) 21:30, 1 May 2019 (UTC)
- The queue will no be closed quickly when there is no agent. But of course the tickets will no longer be answered, so this is a thing that should not happen. --Krd 05:00, 2 May 2019 (UTC)

mediainfo - Dateiinformationen
Hallo Krd,
--Molgreen (talk) 04:07, 8 June 2019 (UTC)
- Ich habe keine spontane Idee. Kannst Du einen Screenshot davon per mail schicken? --Krd 21:12, 8 June 2019 (UTC)

I noticed you tagged File:Akrika-Sonne-Sun-Africa.jpg with an OTRS permission template. Does that also cover Special:ListFiles/BergerTeam or should these files be tagged as missing permission? Multichill (talk) 20:53, 22 June 2019 (UTC)

hi Mr. Krd, I am writing to ask you to restore this scanned portrait of the XVIIth Century. the following artist who executed the painting is unknown--NNEPEL12 (talk) 10:40, 26 June 2019 (UTC)
- What is the evidence that the portrait is created in the XVII. century? --Krd 10:42, 26 June 2019 (UTC)
is a scanned image from a magazine, it is obvious that in the 17th century the following character lived in that period, if it had been in the 18th century, the style of painting would have been completely different, however it is a scanned image. for copyright it should definitely not be a hindrance since it is a portrait where the following artist has been dead for more than a century. it would be possible to restore the following file that you deleted???--NNEPEL12 (talk) 09:00, 28 June 2019 (UTC)
- I'm not going to restore it as I see no evidence that the image is from a previous century. Feel free to request at COM:UNDEL. --Krd 09:03, 28 June 2019 (UTC)

Hi! I hope you didn't mind me taking care of above-mentioned ticket, referring to https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Susan_och_Mats_Billmark.jpg . Hannibal asked me as an OTRS agent to help him and the photographer Camilla Norman getting the license procedure correct. Perhaps you could even transfer the ticket to permissions-sv@wikimedia.org? This was the queue it ought to have been sent to in the first place (and then the ticket archival could be duly done). All the best.--Paracel63 (talk) 13:36, 10 July 2019 (UTC)
- The ticket is already done. --Krd 13:37, 10 July 2019 (UTC)
- Many thanks in your help and swift reply to the license holder. I was a bit quick in my permission acknowledgment, not having replying access to a locked ticket. All the best. :-)--Paracel63 (talk) 13:41, 10 July 2019 (UTC)
- You can always assign tickets to yourself when they appear abandoned. Although, no offense, but I don't understand what going on today, as you are no the first one who likes to have a ticket closed in the same hour, while we have a general backlog of a year or so. Please consider to handle one or another of the remaining tickets. --Krd 13:45, 10 July 2019 (UTC)

Code issues in MediaWiki:Gadget-markAdmins-data.js
Hi Krd, I am a bored bot (this is kind of a computer program) that is watching the recent changes and tapping buttons like I did now.
Curious about the reason? Possibly not but I will tell you anyway:
- You edited MediaWiki:Gadget-markAdmins-data.js. Thank you for caring about Wikimedia Commons's javascript pages.
- Though, that change appears to introduce 9 new jshint issues — the page's status is now having ERRORS.
- To help you understanding where the issues are, I have aggregated a report here and now. If you have questions, don't hesitate to ask users experienced in javascript writing for help. But do not ask the bot's operators (chronically overwrought) unless you suspect an error of mine.

You deleted a lot of redirects today that should not have been deleted. Please take care in the future to make sure that the target was not deleted accidentally. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Magog the Ogre (talk • contribs) 22:13, July 16, 2019 (UTC)
I restored about half of them, but it takes a while because we have to go through each by hand and determine which versions should be undeleted. I'd appreciate if you could get the rest. Hi Krd,
It seems that you have removed parts of the {{Delete}} on these pages. Are you closing the DR? -Mys_721tx (talk) 10:35, 1 August 2019 (UTC)
- I have closed that now as kept. --Krd 11:20, 1 August 2019 (UTC)
- The reasons for the DR is two-fold. Those images are not within the project scope and the ticket does not come from the photographer or the studio. A pervious ticket (ticket:2019073110005317) has shown that the uploader is not the photographer. The DR should be re-opened. -Mys_721tx (talk) 12:17, 1 August 2019 (UTC)
- Of course I missed that and have now reverted and commented accordingly. I agree that scope can be questioned. --Krd 12:24, 1 August 2019 (UTC)
- And, again, thanks for the note! Even the removal of the DR was incomplete, so nearly everything went for in this ticket handling. I have now improved my toolset accordingly. --Krd 15:03, 1 August 2019 (UTC)

Bild Klarinetten
Hallo Krd,
--Krd 10:34, 17 August 2019 (UTC)

Your comments please
With regards to Commons:Deletion requests/Files uploaded by AustralianJasmine and your restoration of these files. These were validly deleted as being out of scope of the project and the DR had nothing to do with their licensing. They are unused images of someone who has made no other contribution to this or any other Wikimedia project. As such they are actually deletable speedily (F10). I would appreciate your comments before I take further action. Thanks --Herby talk thyme 07:20, 19 August 2019 (UTC)
- Hello. The images are related to en:Draft:Gary Goh, so could be considered to be virtually in use. It would of course be within policy to delete them, but I'm not sure if even more work should be spent on that issue. --Krd 07:25, 19 August 2019 (UTC)

Jonah Shacknai OTRS
Hey Krd, the copyright information for the photos of Jonah Shacknai that you worked on from OTRS is inaccurate:
- File:Photo_of_Jonah_Shacknai_2019.jpg
- File:Photo_of_Jonah_Shacknai,_CEO_of_Illustris_Pharmaceuticals.jpg
It says the photos are "Own Work" of a user with the same name as the subject, Jonah Shacknai. I can't tell if your OTRS confirmation was correspondence with Jonah Shacknai himself, or the photographer (I'm guessing Brian Ach, based on similar photos with the same camera serial). Do you think you could respond here or at Commons:OTRS/Noticeboard#Jonah_Shacknai_Headshot? -- Elephanthunter (talk) 19:52, 10 September 2019 (UTC)

We want to learn how well we support your work on wiki. We are 10% towards our goal for participation. If you have not already taken the survey, you can help us reach our goal! Your voice matters to us.
Please take 15 to 25 minutes to give your feedback through this survey. It is available in various languages.
This survey is hosted by a third-party and governed by this privacy statement (in English).
Find more information about this project. Email us if you have any questions, or if you don't want to receive future messages about taking this survey.
Sincerely,
RMaung (WMF) 15:24, 20 September 2019 (UTC)

Hi Krd. I saw you closed this cause the licensing was verified by OTRS. That's fine, but I'm wondering whether the actual emails sent to OTRS (including contact information) should've even been added to the discussion (and also COM:OTRSN#Games Workshop). It seems inappropriate for someone other than the person who sent the email or OTRS to be making its contents public (even if done in good faith). Now that the DR has been resolved, it might be best to remove that from the those two pages since it seems the correspondence between OTRS and copyright holder should remain confidential. -- Marchjuly (talk) 22:31, 15 September 2019 (UTC)
- That is a good point, but I cannot confirm or deny if the e-mail texts posted to the DR are those actually sent to OTRS. As they were not posted by any OTRS member, I don't see any rule that suggests removal. If there is any I'm missing, please advise. I'd also not disagree if anybody else removes it. --Krd 07:45, 16 September 2019 (UTC)
- Understand. Thank you for taking a look. I just assumed it was the same email, but I guess it's possible that it wasn't. -- Marchjuly (talk) 11:17, 16 September 2019 (UTC)

Broken redirects
You've deleted the redirects again after an accidental deletion. Can you please fix your work and try to be more careful? Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 00:20, 20 September 2019 (UTC)
- I hope I have cleaned up all this now, and as I have no clue how this could happen again, I will abstain from broken redirects from now on. Sorry for the trouble! --Krd 05:32, 20 September 2019 (UTC)
- I apologize for my tone. I have a tendency to get grumpy over silly things. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 22:07, 20 September 2019 (UTC)
- No offense taken, but the workflow has some flaws and cleaning up was a pain. I don‘t want to cause that again. --Krd 03:31, 21 September 2019 (UTC)

Request to restore image
Hello! I posted an image, File:WURD_logo_small.png, and it was deleted due to lack of permission. However, I believe permission was submitted by email for this image. I got an auto-reply with ticket #2019091810001002. Would it be possible to restore this image? I was directed to you by User:JuTa here https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/User_talk:JuTa. Thank you!
--Krd 13:47, 4 October 2019 (UTC)

Can you please confirm the above ticket (rather than ticket:2019100110008043) with respect to adding permission for Tony Blair (2010).jpg? Thanks. AlbanGeller (talk) 15:15, 4 October 2019 (UTC)
- The ticket has already been processed by sending a followup question. --Krd 15:17, 4 October 2019 (UTC)
- The copyright holder (EU) was unable to answer as to the web address of the uploaded file, for they weren't the ones uploading the file. They referred the question to me for this reason. AlbanGeller (talk) 15:22, 4 October 2019 (UTC)
- I don't understand, please say again in different words. --Krd 17:07, 4 October 2019 (UTC)
- The followup email asked for the address (namely of the file) and they replied by saying that OTRS should direct this to me, not them. They forwarded me their reply to OTRS. AlbanGeller (talk) 17:15, 4 October 2019 (UTC)
- There appear to be several tickets regarding this file. It will take a while to sort that. --Krd 17:23, 4 October 2019 (UTC)
- Is there anything I can do to help sort it out? AlbanGeller (talk) 17:25, 4 October 2019 (UTC)
- As far as I see there is not the kind of followup question for this file. Please encourage the copyright holder to check their mail and send the permission again. --Krd 17:27, 4 October 2019 (UTC)
- They forwarded the conversation they had with me to OTRS. Can you look under the subject Re: [Ticket#2019100210003135] FW: Permission to use photo under Creative Commons with the statement of permission (by the copyright holder to OTRS) dated 02/10/2019 07:29? AlbanGeller (talk) 17:34, 4 October 2019 (UTC)
- That ticket is still open. Please be patient. --Krd 17:37, 4 October 2019 (UTC)
- Can I ask why? The email reply to the copyright holder by OTRS asked for "the specific name or URL of the page on Wikimedia Commons to which you have uploaded it," and the copyright holder responded by saying "(Redacted) (in copy) is the one who asked us to use our pictures. He will be the best to answer your request." AlbanGeller (talk) 17:39, 4 October 2019 (UTC)
- Because this is not the only open ticket, and we are all volunteers. --Krd 17:49, 4 October 2019 (UTC)
- OK. Is there anything else I can do? AlbanGeller (talk) 20:28, 4 October 2019 (UTC)
- Krd, can I just ask how long this process will take? I really don't mean to bother but I would greatly appreciate if you could give me an estimate. Thanks. AlbanGeller (talk) 20:05, 7 October 2019 (UTC)

? AlbanGeller (talk) 08:51, 12 October 2019 (UTC)- @AlbanGeller: The current backlog for English tickets is 14 days, and even longer for more complex or less-routine tickets. Following up daily will not expedite the process. Krd, or another OTRS member, will contact you when ready. You do not need to contact them further unless they request more information. Please be patient and trust the system. ~riley (talk) 00:06, 13 October 2019 (UTC)

Games Workshop images
Thank you for settling the discussion at https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Deletion_requests/File:Warhammer_AoS_Lind.jpg . You decided that the email from Games Workshop's lawyer confirms that we can use that photo of a Warhammer match as free content. I think that, given the language of the emails, this would apply to any similar photograph of a Games Workshop game. Perhaps you could post some sort of general announcement regarding this precedent. Maybe a new copyright template that we could add to any image of a GW game to say that Games Workshop is OK with these kinds of images? Kurzon (talk) 14:54, 15 September 2019 (UTC)

hi krd, I am writing to tell you that the multitudes of files you erased in a mass "cleanup", are all the following PD license files with attached the various additional sources concerning the information inherent to the uploaded file, you once put in requested one of those files, and after a very brief explanation concerning a wrong license and then later it was resolved. I just want to tell you that those files were all in good faith they are not copyviol!!!!!! I await your reply, regards--109.115.18.146 12:30, 13 November 2019 (UTC)

Odd undel
Hi, looking at File:CD-HOMES-exp115_Alfio_Giuffrida-AG_Sinnwerke.jpg (edit|talk|history|links|watch|logs) leaves me wondering why this took 5 years to undelete, and why there is no ticket reference in the undeletion log (the norm is to give the ticket reference). My presumption is that the same OTRS ticket was used to undel several other similar files at the same time. As the undeleting admin, could you provide some context? Thanks --Fæ (talk) 11:20, 15 November 2019 (UTC)
- The ticket number is given at the file page. Which kind of context would you like to have? --Krd 11:25, 15 November 2019 (UTC)
- This was an unusually long deletion period, but I'm presuming that the artist themselves took that long to realise that they needed to write an email and there was no earlier correspondence, correct me if there's anything else behind this. It's especially peculiar because the vast majority of Category:CD-Homes (AG Sinnwerke, Alfio Giuffrida) were never identified as being problematic, so given these facts, it's also a reasonable presumption that this was Common's failure to not treat all these uploads the same way (i.e. the OTRS ticket should retrospectively apply to the rest of the contents of that category). One possible action for consistency could be to find similar patterns in deletions of old 'OTRS requested' use, and make that same level of verification required for associated files, like those from the same uploader with the same author assertions.
- There's a secondary point for Commons OTRS volunteers as to whether best practice is to add the OTRS reference to the log, which I think a tool might do for some people, or whether it's okay to leave it as 'OTRS' generically as you did for this case. --Fæ (talk) 11:36, 15 November 2019 (UTC)
- I'm not sure if this can be incorporated into the workflow of everybody without pain, but at least for me it sounds reasonable. --Krd 12:52, 15 November 2019 (UTC)
- Okay, I have no plans to push on this, nor do I want to target you as you do excellent work, though we recognize that good logs make for easier accountability.
- You may find OTRS restores and their delay interesting, though there may be missing OTRS based undels where the log does not contain "OTRS". Thanks --Fæ (talk) 18:38, 15 November 2019 (UTC)
- To clarify: I didn't imagine there is a reason to put the ticket into the log, but as you showed one, I have already included this into my toolset as it doesn't cost me much. I'm just saying this couldn't be so easy for every agent, and in the end I personally prefer a small backlog over extensive ticket handling, and give agents some discretion how they individually perform best.
- Regarding the query, please note that at the beginning of 2019 there was a backlog of up to 450 days in permissions-de for nearly a year, and I remember most files from your list s having processed them while clearing this backlog.
- For the actual case Alfio_Giuffrida-AG_Sinnwerke I have to look into details later next week when back a my primary computer. Not everything can be resolved immediately from mobile devices. --Krd 07:20, 16 November 2019 (UTC)
- I'm not sure if this can be incorporated into the workflow of everybody without pain, but at least for me it sounds reasonable. --Krd 12:52, 15 November 2019 (UTC)
- Thanks for the extra information. All that might happen for this case might be to add tickets to the rest of the related uploads, for completeness rather than, say, an issue against the precautionary principle. As mentioned previously, more widely one might be able to retrospectively work out where 'no permission' tags have been added inconsistently, and then some files deleted while others have not been noticed.
- Less of a concern, probably, is the delay in processing OTRS requests. As you say, this seems to have significantly improved.
- So, no urgent actions here, just pointing out that it may be possible to do a more interesting analysis of the way these things are done, especially if a more sophisticated approach could highlight other inconsistencies. As I have no access to OTRS, my reach and therefore interest, compared to the stuff I can fully analyse, is naturally limited.
- BTW, if you are looking at what current common practice is for OTRS volunteers, Comments used in OTRS related undeletes may be useful. --Fæ (talk) 11:15, 16 November 2019 (UTC)
- I have now asked the user if the permission applies to all files in the category. --Krd 16:59, 19 November 2019 (UTC)

Objection useless ?
--Krd 11:52, 20 November 2019 (UTC)

RGS-X8_Retford_King_Edward_VI_Grammar_School_cloisters_ .... photo permission
Thank you for your message Ref: File:RGS-X8_Retford_King_Edward_VI_Grammar_School_cloisters_and_bell_tower_from_its_playing_field._Taken_before_1937.jpg I have indeed sent the permission template to the owner and will remind him to reply - please be patient as this is a elderly person and less often checking his mailbox, even though I have prior agreement (but I know you are unable to rely on handrwritten permissions). deletion of Rattus_for_JM_cover.jpg
For the issue about deletion Rattus_for_JM_cover.jpg I sent you an email. I got emails from the photographer and article author, but they forgot to send my (for them prepared) template to the OTRS. ... Don't know yet how the undeletion process could be eventually initiated? Thanks for help. br --Commander-pirx (talk) 16:12, 4 November 2019 (UTC)

Closing oversighter requests
Scanning through Commons:Oversighters, unlike for the Administrators official guideline of 75%, I can see no figures for what is the target pass rate for votes. Is this agreed elsewhere and has never been published on the actual page? Thanks --Fæ (talk) 23:54, 5 November 2019 (UTC)
- There is something at Commons:Oversighters/Howto, which I would consider reasonable. --Krd 06:37, 6 November 2019 (UTC)
- Excellent, I missed following that link. It would be worth someone tidying up the rights guideline pages to be consistent in the rubric expected, perhaps at the point when there's a related new proposal about the process. --Fæ (talk) 06:43, 6 November 2019 (UTC)
- I agree, and I'd appreciate if somebody could do that. --Krd 06:47, 6 November 2019 (UTC)

Range blocks
Not having sysop access I am slightly in the dark about exactly what information gets displayed in the normal tools. Examining some of the blocked IP ranges listed at Commons:Database reports/Range blocks, publicly available sites tell me that they are not open proxies, for example, 91.230.121.0 and 103.255.0.0 do not look like they have especially bad reputations. Considering that m:NOP also differentiates between static and non-static addresses as being suitable for long term blocks or not, presumably there's a tool or database that sysops are recommended to use before judging the length of block necessary?
Thanks for any insight you can offer. --Fæ (talk) 15:06, 6 November 2019 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) FWIW: 91.230.121.0/24 has an incorrect rationale; it should have been abuse of multiple accounts (Krd can check the 2 September 2019 CU log to confirm the intent). Эlcobbola talk 15:19, 6 November 2019 (UTC)
- Just noting that I'm probably not going to drill much further into this, mainly because I have no sysop access. However there does seem to be a problem with consistency, so that all sysops on Commons understand what the policies are, and that they are certain about the rationales and evidence they are leaving in the logs. Commons per se does not have that many active specific range blocks, however some of these are for surprisingly long periods, over 4 years with many being 1 year. If those blocks might not be based on solid evidence, or may not have been discussed with a CU, which should not surprise anyone as range blocks are a complex area, not really an obvious expectation of high competence for the average Commons administrator, they probably should be reviewed. --Fæ (talk) 15:32, 6 November 2019 (UTC)
- I'm not saying this is or is not the case, but a missing rationale for a range block possibly can be intentional in signle cases to avoid creating a relation between user blocks and IP blocks. --Krd 17:52, 6 November 2019 (UTC)
- Hopefully that's not the case. Leaving suspicious blanks in comments draws attention to them as oddities, rather than simply making a generic explanation. The issues here include a misunderstanding of how different IP blocks exist for different reasons, and which blocks need contact with a CU, and which have different possible block lengths. There seems reason to believe that not all current administrators who have issued range blocks do so correctly against the documented process.
- If you want to keep your thoughts private that's fine. Perhaps someday I'll do a more detailed analysis.

--Krd 08:01, 6 December 2019 (UTC)

Advise re: Ticket:2019120910006171
Guten tag, Copyright violation is claimed by US government agency for 30+ images from their Flickr feed that they say were uploaded there in error with a "United States government work" license. A note on the Flickr source pages also clearly shows the photographer's name who they say was/is not an employee. I found his website and that appears true. Should I just add copyvio|reason template or start a deletion nomination, or something else? Thanks in advance. Ww2censor (talk) 12:03, 10 December 2019 (UTC)
- If the case is clear and nothing to discuss, I'd suggest to add the copyvio template or delete straight away. --Krd 12:17, 10 December 2019 (UTC)
- It's quite clear to me, even though they are mostly 2016 files, but I'm not an admin, so will tag them and leave it to others. Thanks Ww2censor (talk) 14:23, 10 December 2019 (UTC)

Feedback on RGS-X8_Retford_King_Edward_VI_Grammar_School_cloisters_and_bell_tower_from_its_playing_field._Taken_before_1937.jpg
Ref: File:RGS-X8_Retford_King_Edward_VI_Grammar_School_cloisters_and_bell_tower_from_its_playing_field._Taken_before_1937.jpg Hello, I have uploaded this file on behalf of an elderly archivist who has submitted an email permission and I want to encourage him before that also becomes too much. Could you expedite the permission via krdbot ASAP please so I can encourage the contributor, or worse before he is unable to do so. (Apologies also I am relatively new and also learning about Wiki protocol.. Presumably I need to wait for the permission to be processed before I add a link to this from the respective article?) Many thanks. Gedgmoss (talk) 13:20, 16 December 2019 (UTC)
- The permission sender have received a reply, please encourage them to check their e-mail. --Krd 13:23, 16 December 2019 (UTC)

OTRS permission
Hello again. Can you possibly look into this for me, please? Thanks! AlbanGeller (talk) 17:11, 21 December 2019 (UTC)
- The ticket is still open. My intention is to look into this until end of year. --Krd 18:03, 21 December 2019 (UTC)
- Thanks, but my worry is that the image may be deleted by then, since the first OTRS response was last month. Just to clarify, the head of the Audiovisual Library at the European Commission emailed OTRS on Thursday to confirm the image is free to use under the terms of CC BY 4.0. AlbanGeller (talk) 18:12, 21 December 2019 (UTC)
- I'm not going to drop off everything else from my agenda for today to read into that ticket out of my workflow. Sorry. Please be patient. --Krd 18:17, 21 December 2019 (UTC)

Curious
What you took issue with here. Feel free to correct me, especially if I've made a mistake in a way that could be confusing for new editors. I just want to make sure I understand the problem as best I can. GMGtalk 15:49, 28 December 2019 (UTC)
- You answered a lot of unasked questions, sadly not those the user actually asked. Please read again. --Krd 15:52, 28 December 2019 (UTC)
- Fair enough. But if they don't use the OTRS pending template, how are they to indicate that permission has been sent and avoid an immediate deletion nomination? GMGtalk 15:55, 28 December 2019 (UTC)
- Not at all, they have 7 days, far more than needed. How big is the actual backlog? Keep it simple for the user! --Krd 15:58, 28 December 2019 (UTC)
