Image Sources not indicated
[edit]I have indicated a source and author for all three images you have tagged as unsourced (namely MONUSCO and the website Radio Okapi). I don't understand what the issue is. Catlemur (talk) 05:23, 4 March 2025 (UTC)
- @Catlemur: For files that are uploaded from external sources, you should provide a link to the source, such that others (especially license reviewers) can verify if it is really licensed under the stated license. Otherwise, people can just give an untraceable source then claim their files are freely licensed.
- File:Mai Mai Katanga.jpg is a good example — it contains a source link to Flickr, which clearly its license status. It is therefore quickly reviewed by bots. Can you provide the source links to the other 3 files? If provided, I am happy to withdraw the unsourced tags and help with license reviewing.
- Added links to all 3 files. Catlemur (talk) 06:17, 4 March 2025 (UTC)
Done, I've removed the deletion tag, and the reviewer bot has finished reviewing them.
- I also found File:Meghalaya Most Wanted 2014.jpg, which has a similar problem. Moreover, simply being a "freely distributed press release" does not mean that it is automatically given under a free license, and it appears that {{GODL-India}}, the default free license by the Indian Union Government, does not apply to state governments. The file therefore lacks a valid license, and I therefore tagged it for no permission.
- Added links to all 3 files. Catlemur (talk) 06:17, 4 March 2025 (UTC)
Ask photographer change image license
[edit]Hi, do you have Flickr account ? If have, can you ask the photographer of this image that can he agree change the license to Attribution or Share-Alike to upload it to Commons ? Thank you ! Tô Ngọc Khang (talk) 15:56, 8 March 2025 (UTC)
- @Tô Ngọc Khang: My apology for not replying promptly. As someone else have fulfilled your request, I would also like to remind you that you can register for a Flickr account, which is free. Please also do not remove discussion threads — they will be removed for archival by bots.
Royal Navy Police vehicle files
[edit]Regarding File:Royal Navy Police Peugeot van.jpg and File:Royal Navy Police Vauxhall Vivaro HV14 FCL.jpg , they are useful so thanks for them. If you could find anymore showing the Royal Navy Police, not only vehicles, they would be appreciated. Especially any images of Royal Marines qualified as service police members. They could be added to the relevant wikipedia articles. Thanks. Dreddmoto (talk) 20:24, 28 March 2025 (UTC)
- @Dreddmoto: Well, the files are not taken by me. There are limited images about the RN Police at Royal Navy Police, and if you need more, you can search on the UK Ministry of Defence (safely licensed under {{OGL3}}), or you can create a Flickr account and ask for other's license change. Regards.
I'm not certain how to bring files from that source over to commons, so I wondered if you would. Thanks for your reply. --Dreddmoto (talk) 18:37, 1 April 2025 (UTC)
Category:Military police vehicles
[edit]Regarding that, it does not currently have a lot of images. That's why I recently moved the file of the Canadian Chevrolet Silverado there. That and because Silverados are more of a truck than an automobile (car).
If that file is not going to be included there, I think that it would be helpful to replace it with another one that shows a military police vehicle that is not a car. Perhaps an armoured personnel carrier or truck that does not fit in one of the existing subcategories in the Category:Military police vehicles. Dreddmoto (talk) 18:15, 1 April 2025 (UTC)
