User talk:Kjersti Lie
Our first steps tour and our frequently asked questions will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy (Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content). You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold when contributing and assume good faith when interacting with others. This is a wiki. More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump. |

Tip: Categorizing images
[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.CategorizationBot (talk) 11:38, 27 August 2010 (UTC)

Files you uploaded may be deleted
[edit]The files listed below, which you uploaded, have been tagged OTRS pending for more than 30 days. This tag indicates that an email setting out permission to use the file was sent to the OTRS team. Unfortunately, we cannot find any record that such an email has been received, and accordingly the file remains without permission. Unless the OTRS team receives evidence that permission has been granted within 15 days of today's date, the file will be deleted. If you have not sent the permission, please send it to "permissions-commonswikimedia.org" now. Please quote the file name in your email. If you have, please leave a message at the OTRS noticeboard, quoting the file name, so that a volunteer can follow this up. Alternatively, you can contact an OTRS volunteer directly. Please note that this message is being left by an automated bot, whose operator is not an OTRS volunteer, therefore please do not send this information to me, as it will not save your images from deletion. Thanks for your time! Please help translate this message! HersfoldOTRSBot(talk/opt out) 05:25, 14 December 2010 (UTC)
- I had problems with the .png-format on Commons(again), so the picture was uploaded as a .jpg file - and the permission sent to the Norwegian wm-group. You may delete the .png-file, if it is not already done. kj 14:08, 22 December 2010 (UTC)

Thank you for participating in Wiki Loves Monuments 2012!Dear Kjersti Lie, Thanks to the participation of people like you, the contest gathered more than 350,000 pictures of cultural heritage objects from 36 countries around the world, becoming the largest photography competition to have ever taken place. You can find all your pictures in your upload log, and are of course very welcome to keep uploading images and help develop Wikimedia Commons, even though you will not be able to win more prizes (just yet). If you'd like to start editing relevant Wikipedia articles and share your knowledge with other people, please go to the Wikipedia Welcome page for more information, guidance, and help. To make future contests even more successful than this year, we would like to invite you to share your experiences with us in a short survey. Please fill in this short survey in your own language, and help us learn what you liked and didn't like about Wiki Loves Monuments 2012. Kind regards, |

File:NTNU UB ARKBIB interior 1.jpg has no license
[edit]Hi, I noticed that File:NTNU UB ARKBIB interior 1.jpg and several other images in Category:Items with OTRS permission confirmed but no license has no license. I have no access to your OTRS ticket so I can not look up what it is supposed to be. Could you add those missing licenses? See Commons:Licensing for more information. --Jarekt (talk) 13:05, 2 March 2013 (UTC)
- Thank you for reminding me! I think I have added the correct (cc-by-sa 3.0) license to all the photos now! By writing to me, you also made me aware of all the other warnings on my user page! I had better take a look at them as well! kj 13:43, 2 March 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks for clearing this up. --Jarekt (talk) 15:50, 2 March 2013 (UTC)
Copyright status: File:Skiboli sections A and B.jpg
[edit]This media may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading File:Skiboli sections A and B.jpg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.
If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with GFDL to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with PD-self to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.) If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there. Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you. |

Media fra NTNU Universitetsbiblioteket
[edit]Hei!

Autopatrol given
[edit]Hello. I just wanted to let you know that I have granted autopatrol rights to your account; the reason for this is that I believe you are sufficiently trustworthy and experienced to have your contributions automatically marked as "reviewed". This has no effect on your editing, it is simply intended to make it easier for users that are monitoring Recent changes or Recent uploads to find unproductive edits amidst the productive ones like yours. In addition, the Flickr upload feature and an increased number of batch-uploads in UploadWizard, uploading of freely licensed MP3 files, overwriting files uploaded by others and an increased limit for page renames per minute are now available to you. Thank you. INeverCry 01:18, 12 March 2014 (UTC)

File:Magasinet BUNAD cover 2015–2.jpg has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.
The file you added may soon be deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please replace the copyvio tag with and have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you disagree that the file is a copyright violation for any other reason, please replace the copyvio tag with a regular deletion request. Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

Reidar Andersen - biologist vs ski jumper
- Takk, Migrant, fine greier! Kjersti L. 14:57, 9 January 2019 (UTC)

File:Audrey van der Meer.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.
If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues. |

Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). Warning: unless the permission information is given, the file may be deleted after seven days. Thank you. |

- I have informed Patrick Rogel, on his discussion page, that I only forgot to include the OTRS pending template. Permission mail will be sent to permission-no ... within a day or so. I have uploaded around 1000 files, and know how to do this. I just forgot … Sorry! Kjersti L. 15:14, 26 September 2019 (UTC)

File:Martin Myhre Olsen (cropped).jpg has been marked as a possible copyright violation.

- Thank you for your message. This is no copyright violation. The copyright holder (Martin Myhre Olsen) sent his permission to permissions-no@wikimedia.org on May 27th. I don't know why they have failed to process it. I have sent them a reminder today. Kjersti L. 09:40, 4 July 2021 (UTC)

This media may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading File:Annette Lykknes.jpg.
Thank you. |

Hi, if a permission by the true photographer has been sent to ORTS/VRTS, you may replace the no-perm-template on the image-page by OTRS pending. --Túrelio (talk) 10:01, 4 February 2022 (UTC)
yes, but you were so quick!! :D Everything will be OK. I have uploaded hundreds of photos and know the drill! Kjersti L. 10:06, 4 February 2022 (UTC)
- Well, patroling recent uploads is best done shortly after upload. If you often upload such kind of images for which the permission-process is already underway, why not include the OTRS-template already in the description at file-upload. I've removed the no-perm-tags from the 2 images now. --Túrelio (talk) 10:11, 4 February 2022 (UTC)
- I forgot, Túrelio! I simply forgot!!! Sorry! Thanks for removing the tags. Kjersti L. 10:19, 4 February 2022 (UTC)

Hi, did the mentioned photographer sent his mail also to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org (OTRS) ? --Túrelio (talk) 10:45, 1 March 2022 (UTC)
- Wow, you are so quick!!! I am working on it now. Step 1: Agreement with Linder (e-mail, he wanted this more recent photo). Step 2: I uploaded the photo, to give it a precise URL, WITH the information on OTRS pending. Step 3, which is what I was about to do now: Send him a standard permission mail for him to return to me AND permissions-no@wikimedia.org! OK? Kjersti L. 10:48, 1 March 2022 (UTC)
- Sure. Now, after you have added the OTRS-tag, it's fine and the image is sort of "protected" against speedy deletion. --Túrelio (talk) 11:08, 1 March 2022 (UTC)
Hi, in the description of this image und of your last upload, you had written "Attachment to e-mail from the photographer/copyright holder Ingvild Eiring". However, none had any tag from OTRS. Didn't you forward said permission from the "photographer/copyright holder" to OTRS? --Túrelio (talk) 11:52, 25 January 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you so much, Turélio! I have been ill with COVID-19 for almost a month, and afterwards the whole thing was forgotten. I will fix it right away! Kjersti L. 11:57, 25 January 2023 (UTC)

Luiza Mahin
[edit]Hello, Kjersti Lie.
There was an error in the identification of the file Luiza Mahin.png: it is certainly a derivative of a Carolina de Jesus photograph.
The secondary sources [1], [2] have been added to the file description.
Could you please modify the file name accordingly? Many thanks in advance.
Regards. Guise (talk) 15:00, 21 October 2024 (UTC)
- I think I understand what you mean, Guise: That the photo does not show Luiza Mahin, but Carolina de Jesus. I will ask that it be moved to the correct file name!(UNESCO's fault, not mine!) :D Kjersti L. (talk) 17:33, 21 October 2024 (UTC)
