Wikimedia Commons has an educational purpose, and is not the place to post promotional links or to advertise. Creating articles, userpages, templates, etc. with promotional text is not permitted, nor is the posting of links anywhere on the Commons in an attempt to advertise a website, product, company, person, or organization. Uploading of company logos, press images, and the like in order solely to advertise or use them in promotional material on other wikis is also prohibited, and such images will be deleted if they are found to violate our policies. Recreation of deleted content or continuing to post links or promotional text or files after this warning may result in a block. Thank you for understanding.

I'm not advertising. I find it hard to believe that a magazine that has been around since 1994, can't have a Wikipedia page, while 100's of other magazines can have pages. Furthermore, why are things in the sandbox getting deleted. When you sign up, the instructions tell you to play in the sandbox and that is what I did, trying to figure our how to make pages and it is instantly nuked before I can even play with it beyond 30 minutes. Since my friend wrote the content that he wants posted (we looked up dozens of other magazines in Wikipedia so we could get the right text and not violate the rules) to represent his magazine. Can you please explain to be how other magazines get a page published? It states that I can recommend or suggest a topic, but the only way anyone would be able to find out much of the required information would be to contact me or the owner/publisher, who would ultimately refer you to me. Blocked Indefinitely
There have been two problems with this account:
  • The account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is against policy and outside the project scope of Wikimedia Commons.
  • The username indicates that the account represents a group or company and considered a promotional username which is also against the username policy.

As a result of these problems, the account has been blocked indefinitely from editing.

If you intend to make useful contributions about some topic other than your business or organisation, you may request an unblock. To do so, post the text {{unblock|Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. If unblocked, you may then request to be renamed to a username in accordance with our username policy. If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block using the same method.
See block log.

I never once made any attempt to advertise my business or organization. Since no one want to help educate the unintiated, and explain what is going on, just delete it. I don't care to be part of an organization that is full of hate and hatred at this group is. I can here with the honest of intention and apparently made a mistake and instead of explaining the thought process, you just block. Nicem no wonder why this place is always begging for money, everyone that wants to help is driven away. SimplyWebServices (talk) 02:52, 17 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
And of course my intentions were to make useful contributions, but I can't even get beyond the front door. SimplyWebServices (talk) 02:54, 17 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hi. Please see COM:UPOL. Your current username is inappropriate as it represents a group of people. Also this is Wikimedia Commons, it hosts media content, Wikipedia is for articles. -- CptViraj (talk) 03:02, 17 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I get that, that is why I said just delete it. I went through 5-6 names all were in use so I picked on that wasn't, and I can't change it without jumping through a dozen or more hoops. And I know the difference between Wikimedia Commons and Wikipedia. I didn't post anything in commoms, I was simply trying to make a Wikipedia page. Forget it, this is way too complicated, you all have this so jacked up with read this, do this, not that, maybe this, but never that. It should never be this difficult to create a username, OMG. SimplyWebServices (talk) 03:10, 17 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Your userpage text was clearly advertisement. You can fill out this form to request username change. -- CptViraj (talk) 03:25, 17 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
You are correct the user page text was clearly detailing out my business as when I ws trying to find out why I was getting the error. It stated that it might be because my profile was not completed. So I quickly copy and pasted text into it so I can try to get the image uploaded. You know if there was actually a guide for new users that wasn't 10,000 pages long, you might not run into all these issues that I see everyone who is new is having. There are actually good and honest people out there, who are actually trying to learn something and get something accomplished. Not one single person asked me a single question, it was just the standard "we see this all time, you must be a SPAMMER" attitude. I'll tell you what, I have wasted enough time on this. Just to create a username has been over 4 hours now, that is insane and crazy. Just nuke and we will all see how Wiki folds when it stops getting donations from people like me. I will NEVER donate a single red cent again to this company. It is obvious that the plan is to not help people, but to just belittle them and get them pissed off so they leave. THanks for nothing. Generally notices and warnings are issued before placing blocks. But we have quick block procedures for obvious cases. In your case you added promotional text and your username was promotional, too. That's a clear indication of an advertisement-only account. We are happy to unblock you if you want to contribute constructive, and for that you just have to address the two points mentioned in the block notice above, you've already addressed the first one, the second one is to change your username to something appropriate. And yes, Wikimedia might be complax for newcomers and it's always been that, the policies and guidelines keeps changing, already there has been attempts to make it friendly, but it cannot be perfect, you are welcome to help in improving them, I also had faced difficulties in contributing first. Speaking of donations, I would like to clarify that we are all volunteers including admins, we don't get anything from donations, we are here to contribute to free resources, the donations goes to Wikimedia Foundation and it helps them to keep running the sites, I thankyou for your donations. I understand your frustration but this is not helping. -- CptViraj (talk) 05:24, 17 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
