Our first steps tour and our frequently asked questions will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy (Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content). You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold when contributing and assume good faith when interacting with others. This is a wiki. More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump. |

IMPORTANT - Use the correct license
[edit]When you are uploading an image from Bollywood Hungama's Parties and Events section, you MUST specify the right license. In the upload wizard, choose "This file is not my own work", then go to the "Another reason not mentioned above" section and put "{{BollywoodHungama}}" as the license (no quotes, obviously). That will get the license section correct. If you just choose the Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 license, the file is likely to end up deleted as the BH website says the images are copyrighted. You've got to get this right, some of your uploads have already been deleted because you didn't use the right license. I've fixed some of your recent uploads, please go through the others. - Here's an example of the change I made - [1]. You'll see it's a small and easy to make change. Ravensfire (talk) 17:49, 30 December 2022 (UTC)
- PLEASE READ THE ABOVE NOTE! You've continued to use the wrong license. Yes, it's a few more steps you need to do, but it gets the license correct. As you uploaded the image, someone not familiar with BH images would delete it as there is nothing to indicate on the BH website that the image has the license stated. Copyright violations
[edit]
Hello Israrhashim1.
You have uploaded one or more files that are copyright violations. You have done so despite requests from editors not to do so, and despite their instructions. See Commons:Licensing for the copyright policy on Wikimedia Commons. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules by subject matter useful. This is your last warning. The next time you upload a file that violates copyright, you will be blocked. Please leave me a message if you have further questions. |

File:Preity Zinta snapped during the promotion of Bhiaaji Superhit at JW Marriott.jpg has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.
The file you added may soon be deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please replace the copyvio tag with {{subst:OP}} and have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you disagree that the file is a copyright violation for any other reason, please replace the copyvio tag with a regular deletion request.

Response
[edit]It's not copyrighted you can visit the website by yourself.. Israrhashim1 (talk) 23:26, 25 April 2024 (UTC)
- @Israrhashim1, see the very first talk page section about using the correct license. The BH website DOES NOT say anything about the images being under a compatible license. You MUST use the right license here as that explains the conditions where BH has allowed the use of a compatible license. People aren't always going to fix your mistakes, you need to do this right. Here is the last version with your changes - [2], uses the normal CC-by-3.0 template which is incorrect. Here is where BrightRaven corrected your error [3] and used the right template. - Thanks for fixing it and making me understand.. Gonna use the correct license onwards:) Israrhashim1 (talk) 22:00, 26 April 2024 (UTC)
