Critiques

[edit]

Sometimes I do not agree with your critiques, but I respect them. Your observations are well grounded. Keep on, and take the heat. Welcome. --Tomascastelazo (talk) 17:07, 4 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thankyou very much. Your objectivity is very much respected and appreciated.Fotoriety (talk) 22:31, 4 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Fotoriety (nice nickname). I agree with Tomascastelazo, and hope you will enjoy your stay in FPC page. As french, I have a question. Almost all of your reviews begin by the letters "Cons.", and I don't understand what it means. Could you explain please ? Thank you for answer and welcome again.--Jebulon (talk) 21:43, 5 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
LOL! Thankyou. Yes i knew i would ruffle some feathers, so i chose this nickname to meld notoriety with photo. I would be more than happy to answer your question regarding the word "cons". Cons just means things you are opposed to - which is why i list things i am opposed to after it. The opposite of cons would be "pros". Thanks for asking and making me feel welcome.Fotoriety (talk) 22:40, 5 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
OK thanks for answering, that was my idea but I was not sure. The "s" disturbed me. "Pro" vs "Contra", as french (again) I'm unforgiveable, because it is latin ! Lol ! --Jebulon (talk) 23:34, 5 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
LOL! Yes i understand. As English, we tend to invent all kinds of new words - even if they fail to uphold the standards of accuracy & proper procedure! LOL.Fotoriety (talk) 23:42, 5 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The file was updated. Please review your vote at the nomination page --Ximeg (talk) 11:10, 8 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I can see it has improved. However, i still don't think it is FP status. It still looks too noisy and i think you will struggle to eliminate that with the settings you have had to work with. Perhaps you could retake the photo to account for the noise and perhaps look at photo-shopping out any unwanted results from that?Fotoriety (talk) 00:30, 9 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Unfortunately I cannot retake it, as it is 2000 km away from me... And anyway, with my camera it's not possible to obtain better results without tripod, which is prohibited there. Anyway, thank you! --Ximeg (talk) 22:52, 11 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sorry i couldn't be of more help.Fotoriety (talk) 01:15, 13 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Picture of the Year 2013 R2 Announcement

[edit]

Round 2 of Picture of the Year 2013 is open!

[edit]
2012 Picture of the Year: A pair of European Bee-eaters in Ariège, France.

Dear Wikimedians,

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the second round of the 2013 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the eighth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2013) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year were entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.

There are two total rounds of voting. In the first round, you voted for as many images as you liked. The top 30 overall and the most popular image in each category have continued to the final. In the final round, you may vote for just one image to become the Picture of the Year.

Round 2 will end on 7 March 2014. https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:MyLanguage/Commons:Picture_of_the_Year/2013/Introduction/en Click here to learn more and vote »]

Edit warring

[edit]

Hi Fotoriety (talk · contribs). Please cease edit warring at Commons:Featured picture candidates/File:Mallorca - Cap Figuera1.jpg. Regardless of whether or not you are (or think you are) in the right, repeatedly reverting another editors removal/additions is disruptive. In the future simply bring such actions to the attention of administrators. As such, in an effort to keep the peace, please do not add the comment back. Your oppose still stands. Thank you, Tiptoety talk 21:04, 15 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Unblock request granted

This blocked user asked to be unblocked, and one or more administrators has reviewed and granted this request.

Request reason: "I find it incredibly offensive when a so-called experienced administrator blocks me based upon two false premises: 1) I am not a sockpuppet of anybody and either Ellin Beltz is a blatant and unashamed liar (by making the false accusation) or she is highly incompetent. 2) My reasons for only voting opposes is simple enough: i vote oppose when i see that a nomination may be heading for an unwarranted FP elevation. Therefore, i try and intervene to steer away from something, i believe, it doesn't deserve. I see too many voters who add their support votes for sub-par images; i believe this has as much to do with leniency and lack of photographic knowledge as it does to voting strategically (you scratch my back...).
Either way, Ellin Beltz should be strongly reprimanded for her reckless, high-handed unilateral action which was made at the very least under severe incompetence and at worst under malicious intent.--Fotoriety (talk) 22:43, 18 November 2015 (UTC)
