File:India national team at Olympics 1948.jpg has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.
The file you added may soon be deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please replace the copyvio tag with {{subst:OP}} and have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you disagree that the file is a copyright violation for any other reason, please replace the copyvio tag with a regular deletion request. Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

@Magog the Ogre May I know the reason of your recent activity in India national football team of removal a pic of India_national_team_at_Olympics_1948.jpg from the page and removal of the pic from User:Dey subrata wikimedia commons page. I am a responsible editor here, and when I am doing something I do it with responsiblity. That pic was taken in 1948, and since then its in Public domain.http://blog.cpdfootball.de/2013/03/23/exclusive-indias-1948-europe-tour-the-first-international-match/ , https://www.sbs.com.au/yourlanguage/punjabi/en/article/2018/06/15/indias-forgotten-soccer-glory , https://www.sportskeeda.com/football/almost-famous-first-indian-international-football-team-1948-olympics The copy righst laws say:
- For photographs taken before before 50 years, that is 16 September 1957, copyright for the image or pictures expires after 50 years of its creation. All such photographs are therefore in the public domain.
- This is a Indian football page, not USA soccer page, please respect the origin of the page and don't do any edits without counsulting with the editors of a page. Here we follow 50 years rule in Indian, like the Crown prerogative copyright, it may be different in USA.
I hope you understand, and undo your work, and reinstate the pic in the India National football team page. Thank you. --- Dey subrata (talk) 08:03, 16 September 2018 (UTC)
- Hi, I noticed this and since I am interested by Indian subjects, I come to bring some information. This picture was taken in UK, and probably first published there, therefore UK law applies, as per the Berne convention. It is indeed in the public domain in India, but that's not sufficient for us. Anyway the license you used is wrong, it was under a copyright in India until January 1st, 2009, and it is certainly also under a copyright in USA. Regards, Yann (talk) 09:52, 16 September 2018 (UTC)
@YannMagog the Ogre::First let me tell you something, you are giving Berne Conventions for British right, I am sorry to say Berne convention doesnot apply on England or UK, they follow Crown copyright.
- 2ndly This picture is taken in UK but its taken by The Hindu, not by British Media and there is no place for "PROBABLY" "MAY BE" in copy right platform, it should be "ABSOLUTE" if you want to put any argument. This is a The Hindu creation. Here is your proof, this is the sport journal of The hindu called as The Sportstar's story, taken from their own archive. https://www.sportstarlive.com/football/indian-football/when-india-almost-beat-france-at-football-olympics-1948-world-cup-1950-first-indian-football-team-why-india-does-not-qualify-for-world-cup/article24573413.ece Its taken from The Hindu Archive, does not belong to any UK or British media.
- 3rdly, The Hindu did not and doesnot publish any newspapaer in UK, only in India. So no UK law applies on it even if any law si there.
- Its very simple, in India or any Commonwealth realm or British reigned countries in the world, any picture or photographs which is 50 years old does not comes under copyright block, as its placed in public domain.
You can also go through Public Domain Thank you — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dey subrata (talk • contribs) 10:18, 16 September 2018 (UTC)
- I have restored the image and corrected the license. Anyone is of course welcome to nominate for deletion, though. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 16:50, 16 September 2018 (UTC)
- @Magog the Ogre I am extremely thankful to you as you restored the picture. But I can understand your concern and checking and verification is very important for this platform where we freely share knowledge and I respect it. And also thanks for mentioning The Indian Copyright act. in the Licensing section. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dey subrata (talk • contribs) 19:53, 16 September 2018 (UTC)

Picture of Amelia Kerr & Belinda Clark
[edit]As requested, here are two pictures of Amelia Kerr:
- File:2020 ICC W T20 WC NZ v SL 02-22 A Kerr (01).jpg
- File:2020 ICC W T20 WC NZ v SL 02-22 A Kerr (02).jpg
Unfortunately I don't have any pictures of Belinda Clark. I didn't start photographing cricketers until 2015, and by that time she had retired. However, I am able to upload some more pictures I took at the WACA during the recent W T20 competition, and I will upload them shortly. Bahnfrend (talk) 12:02, 21 May 2020 (UTC)
Bahnfrend, thanks a lot. Let me when you upload Clark's pics. Drat8sub (talk) 16:44, 21 May 2020 (UTC)
- No, sorry, what I was saying is that I don't have any pictures of Clark - I only have pictures of other players, which I will upload shortly. Bahnfrend (talk) 05:38, 22 May 2020 (UTC)
- Oh! my bad Bahnfrend, anyway if you know someone who can contribute please let them know. I know a very little about online free pictures and all. Drat8sub (talk) 20:11, 24 May 2020 (UTC)
Source of derivative work is not properly indicated: File:India NT Jersey Blue shades.jpg
[edit]This file may be deleted. |
A file that you have uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, File:India NT Jersey Blue shades.jpg, is a derivative work, containing an "image within an image". Examples of such works would include a photograph of a sculpture, a scan of a magazine cover, or a map that has been altered from the original. In each of these cases, the rights of the creator of the original must be considered, as well as those of the creator of the derivative work.
While the description page states who made this derivative work, it currently doesn't specify who created the original work, so the overall copyright status is unclear. If you did not create the original work depicted in this image, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. Please edit the file description and add the missing information, or the file may be deleted. If you created the original content yourself, enter this information as the source. If someone else created the content, the source should be the address to the web page where you found it, the name and ISBN of the book you scanned it from, or similar. You should also name the author, provide verifiable information to show that the content is in the public domain or has been published under a free license by its author, and add an appropriate template identifying the public domain or licensing status, if you have not already done so. Please add the required information for this and other files you have uploaded before adding more files. If you need assistance, please ask at the help desk. Thank you! |
