Thank you for uploading images on Commons.

Please add your images to appropriative pages and/or categories where other users could easily find them.

orphan images are useles

Hello - thank you for providing images to the wikimedia commons. Please keep in mind that images uploaded to the commons should be useful to all users of wikimedia projects - this is possible only if the images can be found by other people. To allow others to find the images you uploaded here, the images should be in some place that can be found by navigating the category structure. This means that you should either place the images on topic pages (galleries) or put the images directly into a category, or do both. Which of those possibilities is preferred is however a matter of debate, see here.

For your musical symbols, you may for instance use Category:Musical notation

The important point is that the images should be placed in the general structure somewhere. There is a large number of completely unsorted images on the commons right now, see Commons:Really unused. If you would like to help to place some of those images where they can be found, please do! Thank you. -- Duesentrieb(?!) 23:54, 11 December 2005 (UTC)

Duplicate flags

Just to let you know, your SVGs in Category:International Code of Signals more or less duplicate the work of others in Category:Nautical_Signal_Flags. Deco 03:02, 14 January 2006 (UTC)

Flag of Turkey

At Image:Flag of Turkey.svg, you wrote that "User believes that the flag of Turkey does not include a white strip at the hoist." Do you have a source justifying this belief? If so, please indicate it at Image talk:Flag of Turkey.svg. Note that the Turkish flag law and Flags of the World both indicate the white heading. User:dbenbenn 23:02, 27 January 2006 (UTC)

Hi, Denelson. As you requested me:

but I need help with Bandera de Guerra del Perú 300.png because of the flags on the sides. Red color for the flag is R:206 G:17 B:38, not brillant red as someones do. Napaykuna. Hi Denelson,

The Magen David in the naval flags of Israel should have the same blue as the field. see [1]

Hi,
What is your source for the correct colours of the DRC flag? ---moyogo 14:51, 3 February 2006 (UTC)

I used the image from the World Flag Database. Denelson83 22:42, 3 February 2006 (UTC)
Well, I have reasons to believe these colours are not "correct". Even if both sets of colours, with dark blue or with sky blue, are being used by congolese media, it seems the correct colours are with the sky blue. First of all flags.net has wrong data about the languages spoken in the Congo, which makes me wonder about the quality of their data overall. Secondly the official website of the President of the DRC (http://www.presidentrdc.cd/) has the sky blue flag. The the CIA World Factbook also has a sky blue flag: http://www.cia.gov/cia/publications/factbook/flags/cg-flag.html But seeing both sets of flags all over the place, with the fact that the Constitution doesn't really define if it light or dark blue, I'd say both sets are ok, with a preference for the light blue one for the reasons given above. http://www.crwflags.com/fotw/flags/cd.html also uses dark blue, so it's a bit confusing. ---moyogo 12:32, 4 February 2006 (UTC)

Update

I've come across this picture : http://permanent.nouvelobs.com/photos/20060219.OBS3917.jpg on http://permanent.nouvelobs.com/etranger/20060219.OBS7247.html It shows the old flag up with soldiers holding the new flags at the promulgation of the new constitution yesterday. Both new and 1997 flags have light blue (the article mentions both had sky blue back colour). What should we do? Currently both our new and 1997 flags bear dark blue. ---moyogo 15:42, 19 February 2006 (UTC) Here’s another picture: http://www.mmcnews.com/news_images/constitution-drapeau.jpg from http://www.digitalcongo.net/fullstory.php?id=64742 . It looks like Image:Flag of Congo Kinshasa 1966.svg with light blue. ---moyogo 16:28, 19 February 2006 (UTC) + in English: [2] [3] with photos. ---moyogo 16:31, 19 February 2006 (UTC) +Photos of the old flag on registered voters cards: [4] [5]

This should be fixed now, since I ditched extra SVG code and wrote this out by hand. If not, I do not know what I can say man. Zach (Smack Back) 14:54, 3 February 2006 (UTC)

You changed the dimensions of the flag to 7:5, probably using the World Flag Database as a source. I'm pretty sure of thta the deminsions used in earlier versions 25:18 is correct. My sources for that is Flags of the World and my interpretation of the Iclenadic law Lög um þjóðfána Íslendinga (first paragraph). Now I'm not Icelandic and could have misunderstod the text. Just thought it would be best to tell you why I reverted your edit since it doens't say anything in the revert summary. Jeltz 15:44, 4 February 2006 (UTC)

I reverted your changes to the flag of Uruguay because borders aren't part of the flag design and therefore shouldn't be in the image itself, the sun isn't supposed to have gradients and there was no explanation given about the changing of the colours. –Vzb83 10:44, 5 February 2006 (UTC)

Hi, can you please explain me why did you revert this image. That image is NOT flag of Serbia, that is flag of serbian people. You can see official site for explanation here. Next time please first make a check before revert something :) --Sasa Stefanovic (talk) 02:33, 9 February 2006 (UTC)

I uploaded a new version, with (more or less) correct colors (see en:Flag of Serbia). I "reverse-engineered" the Pantone colors from the official CorelDraw version from the site above. Even if they're wrong, they're only slightly wrong – they were very wrong in the older version. Duja 08:30, 9 February 2006 (UTC)

What about licensing of this file? Is it really "inelligible for copyright"? Once again, I find wikilicensing confusing. Duja 08:30, 9 February 2006 (UTC)

OK, but what about the version with coat of arms? I confess I took the original from the Parliament of Serbia web page and only converted it to svg. 147.91.173.31 07:45, 10 February 2006 (UTC)
I already answered that question. Denelson83 07:56, 10 February 2006 (UTC)

Palmyra Atoll, Navassa Island, Johnston Atoll

Thanks for the SVG flags of Wake Island and Midway Islands! They are nice! I think it might be a good idea down the line to do the flags of Johnston Atoll, Navassa Island, & Palmyra Atoll so that are set will be complete.) These areas (plus the two mentitioned above have flags; the other four islands do not have flags). Here are some starters:

Thanks!

You seem very knowledgeable and talented. Can you point me in the direction of sources with the history of the Johnston Atoll Flag and the flags (former) usage on the Island? A message on the Johnston atoll talk page would be great. Thanks.Johnvr4 (talk) 14:53, 11 January 2014 (UTC)

Please read http://flagspot.net/flags/hn.html. The version with the stars more spread out is defined by an official decree. –Vzb83 10:40, 19 February 2006 (UTC)

This image is not correct. First off it uses a harp similar to the one used on the , with the orentation of the harp having the strings perpindicular to the length. Also the colour of the string in the harp are silver, not gold. See: Naval Service Flags & Ensigns -- | 07:49, 15 February 2006 (UTC)

SVG Lion

Fyi the lion on Image:Flag of New South Wales.svg is not PD, contrary to the tag that was there. I forgot to add attribution after uploading and it is actually a GFDL lion by w:en:User:Lupin (tarball linked from here). If my licence knowledge is correct derivatives need to be GFDL too, making Image:Government Ensign of Jersey.svg also GFDL. Let me know what you think about this, and if you got the lion as a PD-thing elsewhere, I'm sorry for the misunderstanding. Greentubing (en:WP talk) 09:15, 21 February 2006 (UTC)

Flags of Venezuela

I'd lik to traduce to you the law of the flag for your better understanding the them:

LEY DE BANDERA, ESCUDO E HIMNOS NACIONALES (source:http://www.leyesvenezolanas.com/lbehn.htm)
FLAG, SHIELD AND NATIONAL ATHEMS LAW
Chapter II
about the National Flag

Article 2. The National Flag is that the Republic Congress adopted in 1811, formed by the colours yellow, blue, and red; in united, equal, horizontal bands; in the order that stays expressed, up to down.

The Natonal Flag used by Presidency of the Republic and the National Armed Forces, as wich one hoisted in National, State and Municipal Public Buildings most show the Coat of Arms of Venezuela in the corner next to the spear of the yellow band, and, in the middle of the blue band, seven five-branches white stars shown in an circle arc with convexity to up side. National Flag uesd by teh Merchant Navy just shows the seven stars

Article 3. National Executive branch has the authority to rule the shape and dimensions of standards, emblems, and insignia that will use National Flag colours, as any other use of them in condecorations and emblems.

Article 4. National Armed Forces flags, standards, emblems and emblems shape, use and dimensions will be ruled by the militar laws and codes.

Article 5. National Flag should be hoist in: (...)

  1. From article 1, we most know: the flag used in 1811. Before that date, Francisco the Miranda has been proposed rename America (continet) as Colombia in honour of Chritopher Colombus. That idea was accepted in northern South America. Mach 12, 1806 Francisco de Miranda claims the independence of the countre, hoisting a triband flag as shown in this page, after known as "Bandera Madre" ("Mother Flag"). Is that flag that was proclamed in 1811 an that colours where accpted also for the following Repúbica de Colombia (Great Colombia). then:
    1. When current Colombia, Venezuela and Ecuador split from Great Colobia, they kept the ssame colours for their flags. Thinctures used in Hispanic America were the same across the region, so same "red" (strictly "encarnado") used in Colombia, Ecuador and Venezuela flag is the same used in Perú, Bolivia, Paraguay, Chile and Spain flags; same for yellow and blue.
  1. Form same article we also advice that stars are not used in all the versiona, it has also it's historic reasons: Stars are not used until 1817, where it's given a law to use seven blue stars in the yellow band when used by Navy. That's the origin of the stars.

I wish now you could be accord to the design that I uploaded. By the way, you posted the cibil flag I uploaded for beeing deleted, but it's naming was right for the proyect of flags. Also by the way, Pablellón Nacioanl del Peru.svg is no longer used in any Wikimedia proyect, so it should be good for deleeting it. See you. Request

hi Denelson, thanks for your excellent work. I have a request to make: Do you think you could also convert this image Image:Dienstflagge Austria.png into an svg. but making it look exactly like the png. version (same colour, same proportions, etc.) It is also the state flag, however there are different versions of the state flag. One that you created (Image:Flag of Austria (state).svg) is used on embassies for example, and the one I am requesting is used more specifically by the government (on cars for example) and the military. You can see the difference because the proportions are totally different. Feel free to ask if you have any questions, I'm really looking forward to it, thanks. Gryffindor 23:06, 9 March 2006 (UTC)

That was quick, wow. But the size is still different, the original png. is shorter on its length. The svg. is also smaller than the png. The colours are also different, or is that not possible with svg.? I don't wanna sound complicated, but I really wanted an exact 1:1 of the png. to the svg..... :-/ Gryffindor 00:18, 10 March 2006 (UTC)

Should we use this jack image on all articles related to the US Navy? I want to be sure before I run my automated bot to replace all PNG images with this or the 50 Star Jack (pre-9/11).User:Zscout370 (Return fire) 09:20, 19 March 2006 (UTC)

Flag of Macau

Hi, would you be able to fix Image:Flag of Macau.svg please? The current flag on Commons is apparently an old version; the bar directly below the flowers should be curved/smooth (as shown on the government website), contrary to the current straight one. The Macau Wikipedians on Chinese Wikipedia have pointed this out, but seem unsure of who to ask for help. Could you help? Thanks! -- tonync (talk) 11:59, 5 April 2006 (UTC)

Fantastic. Thank you very much. -- tonync (talk) 02:38, 7 April 2006 (UTC)
Hello, sorry, the Macau Wikipedians think the current edition still needs working on. They point out a problem with the size of the stars and the linear patterns in the bottom. Would this link help? Thank you for your patience and generous help! -- tonync (talk) 03:58, 8 April 2006 (UTC)
I don't think there's a proper construction sheet to the flag. I think the flag only needs one final touching up anyway -- the size of the stars are good now; a Macau Wikipedian points out that in the bottom half of the symbol, the thickness of the green lines increases as the white decreases. -- tonync (talk) 13:25, 10 April 2006 (UTC)
Looks like the Macau Wikipedians have stopped complaining, haha. Thank you for doing such a great job! :) -- tonync (talk) 05:38, 15 April 2006 (UTC)

Warning sign
This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Flag of the African Union.svg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use GFDL-self to release it under the GFDL or PD-self to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find all your uploads using the Gallery tool. Thank you. Sanbec 11:44, 6 April 2006 (UTC)

You put "Copyvio allegation denied", but you don't explain why. webchantier.com has copyright, you must justify why the flag is in the PD. Sanbec 07:50, 20 April 2006 (UTC)

Hi I'am currently redesigning the deletion template scheme towards more simplicity, thus I reverted your change. I know that images with copyvio tagged are currently not listed as deletion request but they are in fact deletion requests. A user has 7 days correcting the thing otherwise the file will be deleted. The Template:Copyvio (and other similar) will be discouraged in future. All people should use Template:Delete then. It is important to have one template to rule them all as currently our users are confused by the large number of deletion templates. I will also rewrite the deletion guidelines after the change in order to reflect this new approach but one step after the other ;-) Arnomane 11:26, 9 April 2006 (UTC)

Flag of CARICOM

Hello, Denelson83. You have many good flags here, which obviously represent lots of effort. However, I noticed that your CARICOM flag was different from the one that I have seen on CARICOM's own website. Your reference was http://www.flags.net/CARI.htm but perhaps we should use the flag/standard seen at CARICOM's own website: http://www.caricom.org/jsp/community/caricom_standard.jsp?menu=community . As it stands, the English Wikipedia article on CARICOM has a clean PNG version of this flag, so perhaps you could convert it from PNG to SVG? 72.27.63.93 00:20, 14 May 2006 (UTC)

Question Mark colors

Denelson83, may you also make a red version of the image: Image:Circle-question.png, replace it with the red version... Then the green version will be named .

Keyboard layouts

There's a slight problem involving the keyboard layout images you've produced, such as Image:KB United States.svg. In Firefox, most of the keys are rendered with a white background. In IE, they have a gray background. MediaWiki converts to pngs, and those must surely be the same for IE and Firefox, so I assume those browsers are rendering them differently. Image:KB United States Dvorak.svg (which I created from Image:KB United States.svg) doesn't suffer from this — it always has a white background. However, I'm not sure what was intended. --StuartBrady 13:41, 16 July 2006 (UTC)

(I'm get the impression you might prefer to discuss this on my talk page instead of yours... if that's the case, I think it'd be best if I moved the whole section there.)
Ahh. I had a guess that transparency was probably the cause. I'm not sure how best to fix this. IE is a pain. Would it be alright if I left it to you to sort this out? (Oh, I forgot, there's Image:KB Blickensderfer.svg, too.) I'm planning to do a whole lot more of these, and I was using Inkscape, so if you know what I did wrong, I'd be very grateful. Cheers. --StuartBrady 23:08, 17 July 2006 (UTC)

White Flag

Hi Denelson,
if found the Image:White flag of surrender.svg made by Jeremy Nimmo, but as he is not online that often I ask you...
He used a 2:3 ratio for the flag. I would prefer a 3:5 ratio as it's common for most national flags and also used for the Red Cross/Cresent/Crystal/Lion/Star flags. If you agree, please upload a 3:5-version. I think the image can uploaded under the same name... Just a simple job, I know. But I can do it... Thanks. -- burts 15:13, 16 July 2006 (UTC)

Hi Denelson83! I just noticed this image and your call for deletion. The cause why the image isn't displayed is that your "implemented" PNG image is just a link to a file on your hard disc which is truly pretty difficult to reach for the Wikimedia renderer ;) ("C:\Documents and Settings\D****n\Local Settings\Temp\YUV.png"). RE: Flag of Canada

Greetings! Thanks for your note; no problem. Not to necessarily question the authority of the Cdn Heritage grid (which I'm familiar with), though, but you might want to take a glance at the true prototype for the Canadian flag: as depicted in the original proclamation (in I Stand for Canada by Archbold) -- the maple leaf is described as being 'of the first' and appears sligthly different than depicted and popularised. In support of my decision to centre the leaf, I believe one of the originators of the original Wp SVG file (whom you directed me to) created . My point: the uncentred maple leaf appears slightly off and I'm unsure that it's precise placement (i.e., as reverted) is prescribed.

On a similar note, I intend on enhancing some of the Canadian provincial/territorial flags: I believe some of the SVG files are not true representations of those flags (e.g., Alberta). Otherwise, good work and let me know if you have any questions.Cogito ergo sumo 05:03, 10 September 2006 (UTC)

Polish flag

Hi, I recently uploaded several images of Polish flags which differ from the ones uploaded by you. I believe mine are better in terms of legal requirements found in Polish law (especially different shades of white and red). The problem is that they are in PNG format and I have no software to convert them to SVG. Would you be able to do this, please? See: Talk:Polska#Request for PNG to SVG conversion. Flag of Mexico

Hello Denelson. I was wondering if you could help me make a bigger version of the current file "Flag of Mexico.svg" based in "Flag of Mexico.png". Since I cannot create SVG files I made a bigger version of the PNG file. I hope you can help me. AlexCovarrubias 01:51, 11 October 2006 (UTC)

Flag of Ukraine

I believe that the original Flag of Ukraine represents the national flag better. I'm Ukrainian myself, if that counts. Let's discuss it before switching back and forth between those two flags. Akhristov 06:25, 17 October 2006 (UTC)

"The author of xrmap"

Hi Denelson83! You have uploaded a great number of SVG flags, created by the "author of xrmap" -- do you happen to know his/her actual name, so that we can use a proper PD-author tag instead of the deprecated PD. Cheers, Himasaram 02:11, 14 November 2006 (UTC)

See Image:Flag of Liechtenstein.svg for my attempt to 'fix' the licensing tag: Many admins don't accept the PD tag as proper licensing. --Himasaram 02:43, 16 November 2006 (UTC)

I have also requested the deletion of Image:Flag of Bouvet Island (rectangular).svg for the same reason. Having these flags on commons has resulted in a number of wikipedias using the flags as if they were the official or semi-official flags of the island. Separate articles have even been created for them without any reference. Inge 16:20, 24 November 2006 (UTC)

Newfoundland and Labrador

Hi. Flag of the ICRC

Hi Denelson, about a year ago you created a large SVG of the flag of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) as seen here. In the meanwhile, the flag has been replaced by a modified version. It now has, upon request by the ICRC, the acronym "ICRC" in large letters written below the roundel. That's because the use of the roundel alone should be reserved for protective use during ICRC field missions while the combination of the roundel with the acronym (written in the font style and size relative to the roundel as shown in the modified version) is the preferred logo for indicative purposes like use within the Wikimedia projects. Could you please create a version of the image according to this specifications (roundel + acronym) in the same large size as your original image? The current version has a very low resolution, and a slightly different shade of Red than your version if I'm not mistaken. --Uwe 23:32, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

Sorry about that. What I plan to do is basically try to deduplicate and select the best versions of flags of Poland, which we have too many on Commons currently. If I understand correctly, deleting images will not be accepted as long as there is even a single link to it. Don't know if this policy applies to links on user pages. If I manage to clean up all the remaining links, would you oppose to having this image deleted? BTW, User:Rfl also claims on his page he has created the image (though the file history doesn't support that claim). --Wanted 12:28, 29 June 2007 (UTC)

Just thought I'd give you a heads up that I nominated a bunch of royal flags at List of British flags for speedy deletion because you were named in some of the file descriptions. A lot of them came straight from http://flags.net/UNKG02.htm, and even the ones that have been converted to SVG are still copyright violations, because the design didn't really change. There were some where the Scottish corner wasn't the same, but I don't think it matters. I think most of them are tagged as public domain, and that's about as far away from the truth as it can get. I'm not sure where in the process you got involved, but I thought I'd give you a heads up. Ipankonin 09:24, 29 October 2007 (UTC)

Your action to flag this image for deletion sets a very dangerous precedent. Do not take any further action without first discussing the issue at Commons talk:WikiProject Flags. -- Denelson83 01:49, 6 February 2008 (UTC)
The only "precedent" being set is that images with a source also require a link (or e-mail) to somewhere where the copyrightholder has released the image under a free license, and this is not realy a precedent since it is a Commons requirement. So far I've seen no proof of http://www.webchantier.com/ having released their images to the Public Domain. Looking around on their homepage only presented the information "2005©Webchantier™". I repeat that unless such a permission can be presented the images may be deleted. /Lokal_Profil 22:40, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

Hello Denelson83/Archive 1!

Thank you for providing images to the Wikimedia Commons. Please keep in mind that images uploaded to the Commons should be useful to all users of Wikimedia projects. This is possible only if the images can be found by other people.

To allow others to find the images you uploaded here, the images should be in some place that can be found by navigating the category structure. This means that you should put the images into appropriate topic pages, categories, optionally galleries, or both of them (see Commons:Categories). To find good categories for your images, the CommonSense tool may help.

You can find a convenient overview of your uploaded files in this gallery.

The important point is that the images should be placed in the general structure somewhere. There are a large number of completely unsorted images on the Commons right now. If you would like to help to place some of those images where they can be found, please do!

I like this work.

But I am afraid, one of golden rings (around the shield) has to be silver, not golden. Or the referenced picture is not exact.

re H1N1 map

"Changing .fr back to .fx: Swine flu hasn't been reported in French Guiana or French Polynesia or New Caledonia or Saint-Pierre et Miquelon yet" Nor has it been reported in Alaska and Hawaii, yet other users insisted on including those. If we are going to include exclaves of one country that is marked on the map, we should include exclaves of all the countries marked on the map. Also, you are incorrect, as ".fr" does not include French Polynesia or New Caledonia or St Pierre et Miquelon. It only includes those areas which are part of France - which includes French Guiana, Reunion, Martinique, and Guadeloupe. So either put back .fr, or remove Alaska and Hawaii. We must be consistent. --Golbez (talk) 05:11, 28 April 2009 (UTC)

I noticed that you posted an edit summary "Do not edit this in Inkscape", and since I'm the one who edited it in Inkscape I should find out what difficulty it caused. To me it seems like my image and yours look the same, load the same way, and take up the same space. What is the standard way to edit such images for Wikipedia? Vowel Recordings Criticism

I have some criticism of your vowel recordings. Most of them are diphthongs, if short ones, not true flat vowels. I could make recordings of the flat versions, but couldn't be counted as a native speaker for many of them, as English has a lot of vowels that are in-between IPA values or are short diphthongs. About the Honduran Flag...

I dont understand why do we have to change another image just to change yhe image I already eant to change Well, Anyways The Honduran law in Spanish says exactly this in Spanish:

La Bandera Nacional de Honduras constará de tres franjas iguales y horizontales, la superior y la inferior de Color Azul Turquesa, la del centro blanca y llevará en medio cinco estrellas de cinco ángulos salientes del mismo color azul, formando con cuatro de ellas un cuadrilongo paralelo a las franjas, siendo colocada la restante al centro del mismo cuadrilátero.

Traduced to english:

The Nacional Honduran Flag would consist of three equal horizontal frames, the top and bottom one of Blue Turquoise Color and the center a white which which would have in the midlle five stars of five angles standing out with the same color blue, forming with four of them a cuadri-rectangle parallel to the frames, being one more colocated at the center of the same cuadrilateral.

I dont know about that other flag, since it looks loke it has nothing to be about the Honduran flag. If there really is something, please tell me at My Talk Page. I will revert your revertion, and if you really need to change that other image, then please do it yourself, because I currently have no Image editor. Thank You. --Ricardo P. Hello, Denelson83!
Tip: Add categories to your files
Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

Your flag images...

I see from your userpage that the issue raised in the DR above is not a one off. Basically, drawing a flag does not mean that you suddenly own the copyright to it- it may well be in the public domain, but the mere fact that something is a flag does not suddenly make it PD. Basically, I'm asking you to check through your uploads, and verify the licensing- I'd imagine many of the images are public domain, but it's entirely possible that some are not. Keyboard layouts

Hi. I've seen some very interesting work from you on keyboard layouts using Inkscape. I'd like to have a shot at it myself, but am completely at a loss where to begin. Is there any way I could contact you so you could enlighten me a bit? It's just that I don't think a talk page is the best medium for that, but I simply couldn't find an alternative - is there any standard procedure to privately contact wikipedia users? Some kind of ad-hoc e-mail? Thank you. (António) 77.54.234.160 17:52, 21 October 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading Image:Flag of Prince Edward Island.svg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.

If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with GFDL to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with PD-self to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.)

If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there.

Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you.

Korean military flags

I'm wondering about the prominent "4.25" on File:Flag_of_the_Korean_People's_Army.svg (and File:Flag_of_the_Korean_People's_Navy.svg, which was based off of it). The earlier (JPEG) version didn't have it, and while I'm no expert, I have trouble believing that such numerals are actually part of a North Korean flag. Do we have a source that backs up Flags of the World in saying they belong there? (For the record, none of Commons' JPEG flags for the NK military, including the still-unvectorised air force flag, have the numerals; all of Flagspot's do. And they speculate that it means "April 25", which is plausible, but still speculation...) -- Perey (talk) 11:29, 16 October 2010 (UTC)

Flag deletion discussion

Hi there. This is just to notify you that File:Austr.Aborig.png has been nominated for deletion. As you were involved in an earlier deletion discussion over the same design, I would appreciate your insight on the same concerns. The discussion is at Commons:Deletion requests/File:Austr.Aborig.png. Osiris (temp) (talk) 04:46, 3 April 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading File:Flag of Somalia.svg.

Thank you.
