Notification about possible deletion

Some contents have been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether they should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at their entry.

If you created these pages, please note that the fact that they have been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with them, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Commons:Wiki Loves Monuments in India

Hi, Bunch of pages related to "Wiki Loves Monuments in India" landed in Category:Pages with script errors. They seem to be too large and time out before fully loading. Can you split them up somehow, or simplify them? --Jarekt (talk) 13:55, 7 April 2022 (UTC)

@Jarekt: , thanks for pointing that out. I will think of some criteria to split the tables. Give me few days. -- Bodhisattwa (talk) 14:02, 7 April 2022 (UTC)
Sure no problem. I am just trying to clean up Category:Pages with script errors as this category is great for finding actual software errors that need to be fixed. --Jarekt (talk) 14:06, 7 April 2022 (UTC)
Bodhisattwa, I fixed the errors that were landing the pages in Category:Pages with script errors by adding "limit 300" to the SPARQL queries. If in the future you would like to see all the rows please break the lists into pages and use SPARQL's LIMIT and OFFSET commands. --Jarekt (talk) 15:02, 5 May 2022 (UTC)

Hello :Bodhisattwa, When moving files please fill out the reason rationale as neither myself or the Communty are mind readers:), Could I ask why you have moved the files? Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 21:33, 18 April 2022 (UTC)

You are right, I should have given the reason to rename these files. These files were renamed as per Rationale 2 i.e. changing the file name to what it is. The files are Bengali books with Bengali titles and they are included on Bengali Wikisource only if it has the correct Bengali title. These files were uploaded en masse once but are regularly maintained by Bengali Wikisource community to correct the title and improve its metadata. -- Bodhisattwa (talk) 01:47, 19 April 2022 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading File:རྒྱལ་བའི་བསྟན་འགྱུར་རིན་པོ་ཆེ་ལས་རྒྱུད་ཀྱེ་སྐོར་བཞུགས་སོ།པོད་༦་.pdf. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.

If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.)

If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there.

Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you.

Translations

Hi Bodhi,

I've been looking into setting up first translations for the WLM pages. Could you maybe check the tags I set up in Commons:Wiki Loves Monuments 2022, and mark them for translation if they are correct? I am somewhat familiair with translations from Meta, but I see there are some differences in templates that are used on Commons. Are there any other things (differences) I need to be aware of? Thanks! Ciell (talk) 10:09, 5 July 2022 (UTC)

Hi @Ciell: , sorry that I got busy with other things. I have marked this page for translation. It was perfect from your side. I have marked translation tag for the menu subpage too. Please let me know which other pages are finished from your side and I will mark those for translation. -- Bodhisattwa (talk) 16:36, 5 July 2022 (UTC)
Great, thanks!
I have tested this with the Dutch translations now, and it seems the languages are double in the top of the page. Does this look the same for you, would you be able to correct?
And let us start with the translations from that general landing page first:
Commons:Wiki Loves Monuments/Help desk seems already to have translations in the template.
And after this maybe the subpages of Commons:Wiki Loves Monuments 2022/Organise, they are essential for the teams I think. Can you agree? Ciell (talk) 18:35, 5 July 2022 (UTC)
@Ciell: . I have corrected the double language tag and marking translations for pages which you have already added translation tags.

I noticed what I was thought was a problem with your coding at Template:WLM India Wikidata ID and brought it up Commons:Village_pump#Template:WLM_India_Wikidata_ID. -- Ricky81682 (talk) 22:49, 12 July 2022 (UTC)

Dear fellow member of the Commons Photographers User Group,

At our last meeting end of August, we talked about getting in touch with the Wikimedia Foundation and offering our help for improving Wikimedia Commons. Today, I invite you to provide your input on a draft open letter to the Foundation. Over the course of the next ten days, we'll further improve the text together, before inviting people to sign it. If you're interested in providing input, please engage in the discussion on the talk page of the draft.

Translations

Hi Bodhi,

I have a new page for you that needs the translation tags activated: Commons:Wiki Loves Monuments/Documentation/Monuments lists and Wikidata.

Also, a small heads up about the upcoming Commons:Wiki Loves Monuments/DEI research 2022/Final report. This introduction page still needs to be finalized, and I need a Lua Module for the template to work. But it would be great if over the weekend the translations tags for the reports' pages could be activated as well.

Thanks! Ciell (talk) 16:50, 16 September 2022 (UTC)

@Ciell: , I have marked this page for translation. Please let me know when these pages will be finalised, I will mark them for translation as soon as possible. -- Bodhisattwa (talk) 18:27, 16 September 2022 (UTC)
Hi Bodhi, It would be of great help if you could already turn them on for me in Commons:Wiki Loves Monuments DEI research 2022 report navigation. I hope the reason why the nav menu looks so strange when transcluded is the tags for translation have not yet been activated? Ciell (talk) 18:27, 18 September 2022 (UTC)

My bad, I forgot to ping her. Let's see what she is up to on this. ─ The Aafī (talk) 08:31, 26 September 2022 (UTC)
Hi both,
Yes, this appendix page was intentionally left out of the translations, since all the links collected on the page go to English language pages and there is no real substantial content other than those links on the page. Having only the links translated might falsely suggest to the reader the reading materials linked are also available in other languages. Does that make sense? Ciell (talk) 10:26, 26 September 2022 (UTC)
@Ciell, A little explanation in the brackets that the links collected go in English, may be helpful. I feel awkward while seeing it in the navigation and then untranslated. ─ The Aafī (talk) 11:06, 26 September 2022 (UTC)
Okay, tagged the page. Can you mark the translations Bodhi? Ciell (talk) 16:30, 26 September 2022 (UTC)

There is no criteria related to file size for this competition, however files less than 6 megapixels will be automatically rejected by the tool which will use. The resolution of your files are fine, so, please don't worry and upload your files as tomorrow is the last date of the competition. -- Bodhisattwa (talk) 10:01, 29 September 2022 (UTC)

Sorry, not clear. The tool will reject images <6 MB? Dashki (talk) 10:24, 29 September 2022 (UTC)

Hi @Darshanavenugopal: , as I said before, the tool will reject <6 megapixel (Mpx), not <6 Megabyte (MB). Two are different. Bodhisattwa (talk) 12:03, 29 September 2022 (UTC)

Oh sorry, missed it. Thank you. Dashki (talk) 12:11, 29 September 2022 (UTC)

Question from the CPUG Board

Dear user group member,

I'm writing you to today on behalf of the board of the Commons Photographers User Group. The past year has been a busy one for us. In 2022, we've had more activities than ever before in the history of our group and you'll find an overview on our group's page.

With that being said, 2022 was also a year of learning for the current board members. Most of us hadn't been involved in running the Photographers User Group and we spent quite some time on getting used to our new roles. We all feel it was a steep learning curve.

That's why, at our last board meeting, we decided to ask our members whether they'd be ok with us serving for another year. Extending our board duties to the end of 2023 would allow us to continue the work we've started this year, and to benefit from the knowledge we've built over the past twelve months.

However, in the end, it's up to you and the other members of our group to decide whether such an extension of our board term should be granted. I invite you to voice your opinion on this page:

Commons:Commons Photographers User Group/Board Elections 2022

We'll gather feedback until December 27, and we'll keep you in the loop about the outcomes of this process.

Thanks so much for your ongoing support of our group. I wish you, your family, and your friends all the best.
