Watermarks in images
[edit]Thank you for your great uploads. I noticed you upload a lot of photos with letters in it. Could you please upload cleaner photos? All of your uploads containing letters on the photo have been tagged with Watermark and will be cropped or edited in the future. Thank you for your awareness. Cheers! Siebrand 14:22, 29 September 2006 (UTC)
- I'll try to talk with Polish authors about non-watermarked photos to upload but it may be a little problem with photos from other wikis, my English isn't so good to sort out this. And, some Polish authors asked me to put their names with their photos (something like Copyrighted for free use, I think), but I'll try to talk about this, too. If this is not clear what I'm writing about, please, contact with somebody from pl.wiki admins to translate a problem to me, ok? Ark 16:54, 29 September 2006 (UTC)
- Please think about putting the license and creator information in w:pl:EXIF tags. That way all of that information is tranferred with the image, but not visible in the picture. Siebrand 21:06, 29 September 2006 (UTC)

We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry. Thanks for uploading Image:Bacalhau.JPG. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the No permission since tag with on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). Warning: unless the permission information is given, the file may be deleted after seven days. Thank you. |

Tip: Categorizing images
[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.BotMultichillT 05:37, 28 June 2009 (UTC)

Just to let you know I corrected the deletion request that you made to this gallery page. I created the deletion request subpage and added the deletion request to the log, steps 1 and 2 as shown on the Delete tag displayed on the above page. You can find the Deletion Request subpage here: Commons:Deletion requests/Ciliata. --Captain-tucker (talk) 21:18, 5 November 2009 (UTC)
