- @Cmao20: 1) I never canvassed votes and I never said there was "anti-Brazilian racism", I said that the FPC's vision of promotion is in fact Eurocentric; 2) Thanks to my lobby for the POTY contest, this is happening right now and not later; 3) I'm an all-or-nothing person: if you don't like my actions, sorry, but other users (like Aristeas, Wilfredor…) are always exchanging good interactions with me on the nomination pages. - @Yann: thanks for this administrative action. But it should be at least one full year. Also agree with Cmao20 and others. A ban is appropriate. This is one last straw after too many "last straws". And already a previous block (before this one) -- Basile Morin (talk) 03:32, 7 October 2024 (UTC)

ArionStar, could you please archive your talk page? Thanks, Yann (talk) 09:46, 7 October 2024 (UTC)
- I think it is important to value diversity but also to respect the rules. I hope that ArionStar has learned and can channel his identity change in a calmer way, in an environment that benefits everyone. I don’t think continuing his mission to showcase images of nude men is entirely wrong, as long as the images are of good quality. Instead of approaching this with an accusatory attitude, I believe it is more productive to engage in conversation and provide space for him to be heard, which is what I think is happening here. I have been warning Arion about his behavior for some time, but overwhelming personal situations can sometimes create tension within FPC. --Wilfredor (talk) 17:46, 7 October 2024 (UTC)
- I don't think it is wrong to nominate nude men at FPC. As I've stated, if ArionStar had nominated a well composed and good quality one I'd have supported it and I'm sure so would others. What is wrong is that ArionStar has decided that the poor quality pictures he nominated were rejected because FPC is somehow anti male nudity, and that he is disrupting Commons and breaking FPC rules to make a point. And there is no evidence he has learned because he says he intends to resume his disruptive behaviour as soon as he is unblocked. ArionStar has been given too many last chances and has continued to disrupt this community. Cmao20 (talk) 21:00, 7 October 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks Wilfredor for the balanced point. We can maintain the status quo if the community avoids accusations of canvassing and anti-Semitism against me. To this day I have not overcome that situation nor have I received an apology from the accusers. ★ 19:18, 7 October 2024 (UTC)
- You won't get an apology because I believe the accusations to be true, and you never addressed them. When you were accused of canvassing you decided to trawl through nominations from eight years ago on a hunt to find a nomination where lots of Jewish people voted and then made an inflammatory post about it in the FPC comments section here, presumably in order to prove a point that you thought you were being unfairly accused. It's not a good look to be trawling through years-old content to have a dig at Israeli people and imply they are colluding with each other. Even if it was not meant that way, it is obvious how this could be taken to have racial innuendos. Cmao20 (talk) 21:00, 7 October 2024 (UTC)
- Agree with Wilfredor (and must say this: there are clearly some pressing behavioral issues, such as no respect for the rules). I also think that while making serious accusations, such as those of anti-semitism, diffs must be provided. I believe works of LGBT artists are not just "(weird) male nudes" and that having an agenda of highlighting such work is not an issue in itself.
- That said, administrative intervention for disruptive editing appears necessary, and I can only hope that the time off is used by Arione to reflect and I hope to see them back here if they are allowed. UnpetitproleX (Talk) 20:10, 7 October 2024 (UTC)
- UnpetitproleX, I am very happy to share why I believe ArionStar to have made borderline anti-Semitic comments. I refer to this discussion where he trawled through eight year old nominations to find one where several Israeli users had voted and implied that it was evidence of collusion. As someone with multiple Jewish family members I find that even if he did not mean to offend, his fixation with going on a hunt for Jews in old nominations is thoroughly weird. He never engaged with my criticism of this behaviour, as he never engages with any criticisms of his behaviour, and now insists that it is him who deserves an apology from me. He isn't getting one. Cmao20 (talk) 21:05, 7 October 2024 (UTC)
- I share Ikan Kekek’s perspective and do not see any antisemitism in Arion’s comment. I kindly ask you to reflect on this accusation, which I believe should be taken seriously. I don’t think that accusing and pointing fingers is the right approach. Instead, fostering open dialogue and mutual respect would be more effective. I also come from a Jewish family that fled Spain in the past for religious reasons, and I understand that religious conflicts are a current concern. I suggest setting aside all these accusations regarding antisemitism, racism, anti-Brazilian, pro-Brazilian, pro-LGBT, anti-gay, etc., and instead promoting open communication Wilfredor (talk) 21:22, 7 October 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you for linking that discussion, Cmao20. As for the content of that discussion, I tend to agree with Wilfredor's and Ikan Kekek's comments there. However, I do believe that the current block on Arion is entirely his own doing, even as I hope to see him back if he can learn to respect the rules. UnpetitproleX (Talk) 21:27, 7 October 2024 (UTC)
- Just to explain a little bit the context of the situation. Just as Basile found it unusual that many Brazilian users voted for the same nomination, Arion intended to demonstrate that if such behavior is considered inappropriate, then a nomination where several Israelis vote should also be seen as problematic. Arion's point was to show that in both cases, there is nothing wrong. Furthermore, there is nothing antisemitic about Arion's comment; on the contrary, he aimed to discredit Basile's accusations by illustrating that in both situations, users are simply valuing certain nominations more because they are part of their cultural background. Please do not twist or misinterpret this. Wilfredor (talk) 21:32, 7 October 2024 (UTC)
- The difference is that Basile Morin provided evidence of off-wiki canvassing whereas ArionStar just trawled through old nominations till he found one with lots of Jewish people in it, which, even if it's not anti-semitic, is really weird. But I have already wasted too much time discussing this and said all I want to say. In any case it is only one of the many incidents that illustrate this user's irresponsible behaviour. Cmao20 (talk) 21:37, 7 October 2024 (UTC)
- The old nomination could be from any other country, Israel, India, China, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Nepal, whatever… It's about "users from X country voting for X-ian, -ese photos". Not about Jews. ★ 21:57, 7 October 2024 (UTC)
- At least you just accepted that he wasn't anti-Semitic, but explain to me What off-wiki evidence?, I can't find it. Remembering that this is not about being right but trying to understand things Wilfredor (talk) 23:06, 7 October 2024 (UTC)

- 1) I already knew about the existence of the old nomination since it was opened; 2) I was making a comparison between: “some users from Brazil voted for Brazilian photos” and “some users from Israel voted for Israeli photos” (which I believe happened in both); is this sufficient proof that there was a canvassing? Answer me honestly. ★ 21:35, 7 October 2024 (UTC)

- @W.carter and Basile Morin: I'm a retired user; I just made my last request before leaving here. Bye and enjoy your lifes… 👋 ★ 02:51, 12 October 2024 (UTC)
- I advise you stop making requests altogether and listen to your friend Wilfredor because he is right; this page should only be used for unblock requests. That said, I don't believe you retiring really bothers anyone. In fact, some people are actually glad you're gone. I'm sorry to say that but that's just the truth. You also say something about you being young, but I'd like to tell you that I am younger than you, and I have never used the "I'm young and stupid" excuse, and I do not believe anyone should. With that out of the way, I think I should inform you of my 1-year-long (later indefinite) blocking in February 2023 on the English Wikipedia. How did I react to that you may ask? Well, I chose to retire for four days before requesting to be unblocked. It didn't work, so I made the dumbest decision ever: I started utilizing sockpuppets. I used these sockpuppets until early June, when I decided to admit to my actions. I could have given up and said that was it, but I didn't. Instead, I decided to become a Commons editor for six months, from June to December, managing about 700,000 adjustments during that time frame. After that, I asked to be unblocked, and what do you know? It worked, primarily because of my outstanding unblock request (one admin claimed it was the greatest he had heard) and my contributions here on Commons. My entire argument is: don't give up. Yes, take a break to reflect on what you did and then come back with a compelling unblock request detailing everything you did wrong, why you did them, how you plan to address them, what steps you will take to prevent what happened during your tenure from happening again, and what tasks you will prioritize. We expect to see significant changes in attitude. Any subsequent replication of your previous behavior after unblocking will result in an indefinite block with no warning. I hope I was able to convey this message in a positive light. Wolverine XI 06:21, 12 October 2024 (UTC)

- @Wilfredor, W.carter, and Wolverine XI: "this page should only be used for unblock requests"... where is it in the policy? RodRabelo7 (talk) 05:32, 16 October 2024 (UTC)
- RodRabelo7 It is stated on Commons:Blocking policy that "Public 'appeals' on the talk page of the blocked editor should not be used, and any that are posted may be removed." and "users who have abused or are likely to abuse the ability to edit their own user talk page and/or send e-mail in this or any other way may have either or both of these privileges revoked". "Public appeals" include asking other users to do things for the blocked user. You should not continue to run your operation by using proxies, that is evading a block. --Cart (talk) 11:58, 16 October 2024 (UTC)
