Awesome linkage contributions!

Thank you very, very much for the lovely linkage animations you've provided, especially the ones for the numerous straight line mechanisms! I've always been rather dissatisfied with the state of most of the WP articles on those, as they went woefully under-illustrated for a long time—but (mostly out of ignorance) I never took any steps to fix that problem. Your new animations are stylish, standardized, and instantly comprehensible; they fit perfectly for these articles. Truly, I'd like to extend you a sincere welcome into the Wikimedia community (and I hope you stick around).

Wikipedia has done wonders with introducing me into a lot of mechanical premises as I made my Poly Bridge videos. After all these years, I felt it was fitting to return a favor after all these years, especially because (as you said) they were in serious need of some cleaning up, haha.

And yes! I do plan on staying around to help on fixing / adding onto some of the other mechanical articles with diagrams over time. (I currently have my eyes set on adding new animations for the antiparallelogram (Section: 4-bar linkages) article soon!)

Sounds great! A stylistically coherent, broad set of linkage animations is a lovely addition.

The one issue (which only now occurred to me) is that the palette might not be wholly friendly to people with color blindness: I put a few images into a color blindness simulator to check, and it seems that a few colors can be difficult to differentiate in certain cases. The issue might be mitigated if easily confused colors were only assigned to links of obviously different lengths—although I doubt that there's any perfect solution, especially if many different linkage lengths are used. In any case, I think it's worthwhile to keep color blind accessibility in mind if you plan on making more—and once again, a big thank you for the animations you've already made :) Shells-shells (talk) 02:44, 19 May 2022 (UTC)

That's a really great point! I will look into seeing what color pallets will work best for those with colorblindness in mind. Perhaps dimming/lightening some of the colors might also help even better across all forms of colorblindness, though some may get complicated to the point where I will be forced to use distinction by color, and I won't be able to make one that is accessible for all. I haven't run into any cases quite like that yet though, and let's hope I never will run into that situation. XD

Edit (Arglin Kampling (talk) 03:05, 19 May 2022 (UTC)): I forgot to mention that the original colors I used in my animations are all actually hiding a reference to something, some being more obvious than others. It's a bit sad to see some go in the long run, but I believe in putting the public in greater priority than my own.
