Cdn aviation museum interested in using a photo in display

[edit]

Dear Sir:

My colleagues and I at the Canada Aviation Museum are completing a text panel that will go on display for an event on October 17th. We are looking for photos of the Boeing Fuel Cell Demonstrator Airplane and came across one of your photos (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/1/1c/Boeing_Fuel_Cell_Demonstrator_AB1.JPG). Would it be possible to obtain a version (4 to 5 Megs?) of this image that could be shown to our designer? If such an image was available, would it be possible for you to send it to mmccullough@technomuses.ca and abrett@technomuses.ca, as soon as possible? I can only apologise for the tight deadline.

Respectfully,

Renald fortier Canada Aviation and Space Museum rfortier@technomuses.ca

Don't know how often this user checks in here, so I figured I'd try to answer your question. The photo looks to be the full size original resolution. While it is only ~2 Mb in size, it is a jpeg and is actually a 9 megapixel image. That image is likely the largest version the author has. - Floydian (talk) 23:38, 6 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Sheffield to Hull line

[edit]

There are some issues with this category - including the possibly changin nature of the service. I had also been used on lines used for services between Goole and Doncaster -which makes no sense to me. eg http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Rail_Line_to_Scunthorpe_-_geograph.org.uk_-_391987.jpg I think it needs an agreed plan to prevent it getting messy.Oranjblud (talk) 22:44, 12 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

TourofBritain2005.jpg

[edit]

Hi Adambro,

We thought you might like to know that we plan to make use of one of your photographic images on our new website browzz.uk.

Browzz.uk is a website dedicated to showcasing all things quintessentially British. We make use of photographic imagery from a number of sources: Pixabay, Wikimedia Commons, Flickr and Geograph, that make images available under public domain or Creative Commons licensing.

We are always very carefully to follow the licensing guidelines and so we do provide full attribution of all photographic images used, even those released under public domain - CC0. We also provide links back to where we sourced the image from, the contributing photographer’s profile page and, of course the Creative Commons license.

We thought you would appreciate the courtesy of letting you know this and we hope that our use of your photographic image meets with your approval. We will review and change images from time to time and we are extremely grateful to those who make their images available under license as we couldn’t afford to put a website together of this scale without these services.

The website is planned to go live from the 11th July 2016 onwards and we hope you like it and tell your friends about this great website where your photography has been showcased!

Kind regards

The administrator @ browzz.uk

Important message for file movers

[edit]

A community discussion has been closed where the consensus was to grant all file movers the suppressredirect user right. This will allow file movers to not leave behind a redirect when moving files and instead automatically have the original file name deleted. Policy never requires you to suppress the redirect, suppression of redirects is entirely optional.

Possible acceptable uses of this ability:

  • To move recently uploaded files with an obvious error in the file name where that error would not be a reasonable redirect. For example: moving "Sheep in a tree.jpg" to "Squirrel in a tree.jpg" when the image does in fact depict a squirrel.
  • To perform file name swaps.
  • When the original file name contains vandalism. (File renaming criterion #5)

Please note, this ability should be used only in certain circumstances and only if you are absolutely sure that it is not going to break the display of the file on any project. Redirects should never be suppressed if the file is in use on any project. When in doubt, leave a redirect. If you forget to suppress the redirect in case of file name vandalism or you are not fully certain if the original file name is actually vandalism, leave a redirect and tag the redirect for speedy deletion per G2.

The malicious or reckless breaking of file links via the suppressredirect user right is considered an abuse of the file mover right and is grounds for immediate revocation of that right. This message serves as both a notice that you have this right and as an official warning. Questions regarding this right should be directed to administrators. --Majora (talk) 21:35, 7 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
