Protection
I protected this page because it was the target of some rather high-profile vandalism (it is featured on the main page) and because I couldn't see any reason why it needs to be unprotected at this point (it is a template with very complicated and highly automated coding). If anyone needs to edit it for some reason, feel free to leave me or any other admin a message. --Fastfission 01:02, 29 October 2006 (UTC)
Preload
I see that this template now displays the English text in case a translation isn't available, and provides an edit link for both descriptions; that's a nice touch. However, it'd be even nicer if the edit link for the (not-yet-created) translation were given a template to preload, so that the following would be added to the edit URL:
preload=Template:Potd/{{CURRENTYEAR}}-{{CURRENTMONTH}}-{{CURRENTDAY}} ({{{fallback_language}}})
This would make it easier for translators to whip up a quick translation, without having to do any of that copy-paste business.

CURENTDAY2
Hi, would the sysops please change this
{{Potd/{{CURRENTYEAR}}-{{CURRENTMONTH}}-{{CURRENTDAY}}
into
{{Potd/{{CURRENTYEAR}}-{{CURRENTMONTH}}-{{CURRENTDAY2}}
This seems breaks the other languages that cannot render the fallback language text. (The template is currently protected so I cannot edit with it). --Shinjiman 09:40, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
Date format
Wouldn't it make sense to change the date format accordingly to the displayed language? For example in our (Netherlands) case the date would normally be written DD/MM/YYYY. You could make some code like (for example):
{{#ifeq:{{language}}|nl|{{CURRENTDAY2}}-{{CURRENTMONTH}}-{{CURRENTYEAR}}|{{CURRENTYEAR}}-{{CURRENTMONTH}}-{{CURRENTDAY2}}}}
Freestyle nl 17:03, 17 March 2007 (UTC)
Fallback
falllback language dont work because
|'''{{{fallback_language|en}}}:''' {{Potd/{{CURRENTYEAR}}-{{CURRENTMONTH}}-{{CURRENTDAY}} ({{{fallback_language|en}}})}}
should be
|'''{{{fallback_language|en}}}:''' {{Potd/{{CURRENTYEAR}}-{{CURRENTMONTH}}-{{CURRENTDAY2}} ({{{fallback_language|en}}})}}

when
When clicking +/- link it should preload english text first, can you make this? --Olli (talk) 17:40, 2 November 2009 (UTC)
