Hi, @Joshbaumgartner! I wanted to see the documentation of this template, but the page appears to be empty. I saw in the edit history that you almost blanked the whole page, but you didn't provide a summary for your edit. Could you explain your edit? Don't get me wrong, I actually came here to express that I like the template in general, and just wanted to point out that there is a rather minor issue with how the template is handling categorization (I think the issue is probably easily fixable, and if not, then it's not that big of a deal anyway). However, now I'm not even sure whether I'm on the right template talk page, as there is no documentation at all. If this is the correct page and your edit had good reasons, then I suggest you/someone add/s a documentation for the template. Nakonana (talk) 09:56, 2 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Nakonana I think this template never had a {{Documentation}} page. I would have left that intact if it had existed. I simply changed it to being a front-end template for calling the normal {{Topic by country}} and {{Category navigation}} templates. In fact I just did a small update to use the current {{Category navigation 2}} and to supress categorization done by that template, as when used in combination, {{Topic by country}} should be doing the categorization. On that note, if you are observing any incorrect or unexpected categorization, please let me know, I'll be happy to track it down and fix it or at least let you know what is going on. I have added a basic documentation template. Josh (talk) 11:08, 2 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for quickly addressing the issue and adding the documentation :)
The categorization issue I've noticed is that the template appears to be creating self-referencing categories. For example, the Category:Children of Armenia is in the Category:Children of Armenia (listed under the letter "O"). So, to put it in movie-speak: there's a category "Inception" going on. One could go down an endless tree of Category:Children of Armenia > Category:Children of Armenia > Category:Children of Armenia etc.
It's a minor issue, but a bit confusing to see a self-reference. Nakonana (talk) 10:47, 3 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
