G-CONC (gate guardian)

English: G-CONC is a 40% scale four-piece model of Concorde. It was built as a gate guardian for London Heathrow Airport, installed in September 1990 on the southern half of the traffic island on the A4 roundabout 51°28′50″N 0°27′11″W / 51.480688°N 0.452993°W at the northern end of the tunnel which carries traffic under the northern runway to Terminals 1, 2 & 3, facing directly south into the tunnel entrance. After its removal in March 2007, it was subsequently donated to Brooklands Museum, transported in its pieces and reassembled firstly in a position 51°21′12″N 0°27′52″W / 51.353472°N 0.464478°W on a patch of grass near the west entrance, facing west. Here it faced the main pedestrian entrance, with the Pratts petrol pagoda at its rear. This was in the corner of the southern boundary of the site, with The Heights business park being just over the fences to its port side (south) and rear (east). On 29 September 2012 it was moved around 1km to the south west, out of the museum site, to the start of Brooklands Drive, which is the access road to three sites in the northern part of Brooklands, namely the Hotel/Spa, Mercedes-Benz World as well as the museum. It was positioned in a grass circular plot on the NE corner of the roundabout where the northbound Brooklands Drive meets Wellington Way (east), Avro Way (west, into the Brooklands Industrial Park) and Sopwith Drive (south). In this position it faces SW, toward the roundabout. Previously, this was the position of a white sign for Mercedes-Benz World, on a grass mound.
