Description
English: Megaklothovirus horridgei infecting Spadella cephaloptera.

(A) Light micrograph of two groups of projecting bristles confounded with the viral particles observed using electron microscopy; (B) Longitudinal section through a single viral particle showing the granular contents and the three bounding membranes. Despite being truncated, this is the photograph of the longest virus observed to date; (C) Enlarged view of the base of a viral particle, showing the peculiar collar of membranes at the base, as seen in Figure 4;

(D) An epithelial cell from which three viral particles are in the terminal phase of budding, seen at the top right and enlarged in Figure 4.
