| Description |
English: The remains of Riccarton Tower A sheepfold has been built on the south side of the scant remains of this tower house on the east bank of Riccarton Burn. The south wall of the tower is to the back of the sheepfold.
Geographer, Matthew Hatton, has provided the following information:- All "Elliot" strongholds (of which there were 30-40 in Liddesdale), except Hermitage Castle, were razed to the ground at the Union of the Crowns around 1603-1610 to prevent reiving. |
