I returnedto Peshawar, little thinking that within two months Ishould again be in Tibet, attached to Colonel Young-husbands Mission, and with other journeys in frontof me. Though at the beginning of the expedition fortunehad seemed to be against us, yet, owing to the pluckyway in which our followers had worked and theirdoggedness in overcoming apparently insuperableobstacles, the expedition had been a complete success.It resulted in the correct mapping of 35,000 squaremiles of hitherto unknown and unexplored country.
