| Description |
English: The abandoned Ty Uchaf Farm Towards the end of the 19thC this farm was taken over by Edward Jones, the quarry manager who lived at Y Plas (=mansion)- the manager's residence at Porth y Nant. He used the farm to produce milk and butter which he sold at an inflated price to his quarry workers. The recorded recollections of the dairy maid, Ellen Evans, show that Jones and his wife were a sanctimonious and greedy couple.
The Ty Uchaf land has now been amalgamated into a much larger unit. |
