The Bloody Theater or Martyrs Mirror of the Defenseless Christians Who Baptized Only Upon Confession of Faith, and Who Suffered and Died for the Testimony of Jesus, Their Savior, From the Time of Christ to the Year A.D. 1660 Contains one of the most extensive collection of accounts of Anabaptist Christian martyrs from the 16th and 17th centuries. Most of these martyrs died at the hands of Protestant and Roman Catholic authorities for daring to preach and baptize without the approval of the state or the state-run churches. This collection only includes people who died at the hands of others and who refused to defend themselves in obedience to Jesus' command not to resist evildoers.
