Skoklosterskölden - SKO 7133, krigsfånge nertill till h
Description
Svenska: Praktsköld tillverkad i Antwerpen av Eliseus Libaerts, troligen för Kejsar Maximimilian II kröning 1564 i Wien. Denna sköld har alltid betraktats som det främsta konstföremålet på Skoklosters slott och är förmodligen taget av Wrangel i samband med stormningen och plundringen av Lilla sidan i Prag 1648.
Paradsköld, efter förlaga av Etienne Delaune ritning. Troligen tillverkad i Antwerpen.
Kartuchformad sköld av drivet stål, med påhamrat guld och silver. Ramverket är tjockare, med i kanterna faunsmaskaroner i profil med från munnen framskjutande ringar för fästande av hängen eller pärlor. Sköldens över- och nederdel med ett faun- respektive kvinnohuvud. Sköldens fyllning utgöres dels av fyra oregelbundna, nitade sidofyllningar med figurer i större skala - fjättrade fångar, trofeer - dels av fem ovala medaljonger med små figurgrupper. Sköldens bottenytor punsade. Ramverket med påhamrat guld och silver i arabeskmönster. Påslaget guld och silver även i fyllningarna. De med ädelmetall försedda partierna är blånerade, profilmaskaronerna bär spår av brunering.
Fodrad med purpurviolett sammet, belagda med guldtrådar i rombiska mönster. Alla på baksidan synliga nitar har rosformiga, förgyllda brickor av koppar (43 stycken bevarade). Spår av bärremmar av läder, överklädda med samma purpurfärgade sammet som baksidan i övrigt (tre remrester återstår).
Enligt 1710 års inventarium p. 72, rum III: "1Romansk Schilt med drifwit arbete och gull inlagt i Canterne, Rödt Sammet underfodrat, och röde silckess Frantzar kring".
1653 års inventarium N:o 21 (Riksarkivet E 8205) "Ein schöner gearbeiter Schildt mit Figuren".
Upptagen i 1651 års Wolgastinventarium.
