Schießbudenröhrchen und Nisteier aus Ton sind zwei Nebenprodukte der im unteren Westerwald ansässigen Pfeifenbäckerei. Die Werkstatt des 83jährigen Erwin Günther in Hilgert isteiner der beiden letzten Betriebe, in dem diese Massenartikel noch hergestellt werden. Erwin Günther zeigt das Ausformen der Tonröhrchen mit einer Presse und das Stanzen und Zusammensetzen von Toneiern. Sie werden nach dem Trocknen bei ca. 950 Grad C gebrannt. Der Pfeifenofen wird mit Holz befeuert.

Der Pfeifenbäcker erläutert die einzelnen Arbeitsschritte selbst in beeindruckender Weise.
