Seit Jahrtausenden ist der Pflug Symbol für den Ackerbau und eines der ältesten Bodenbearbeitungsgeräte. Welch ein Wandel sich in Landwirtschaft und Technik vollzogen hat, zeigt die Herstellung eines modernen mehrscharigen Pfluges. Der Film dokumentiert beispielhaft an der Fertigung eines Streichblechs, wie heute ein Pflug entsteht: von den roten Stahlplatten bis hin zu den polierten Einzelteilen in der Endmontage. Die Firma Lemken in Alpen am Niederrhein vereint hoch technisierte Produktionsanlagen und traditionelle Handarbeit – für die über 600 Mitarbeiter eine tägliche Herausforderung.
