Caroline writes to an unnamed gentleman, presumably Henry Grafton Chapman, regarding a board bill owed to a Mr. Bailey, now deceased. Several words and sentences have been crossed out indicating that it is a rough draft of a letter
On verso, there is an unfinished, rough draft of a letter by Maria Weston Chapman to "Dear Friend & Brother Chapman," presumably Robert R. Chapman. Maria is responding to Robert's letter dated Dec. 19, 1839, Call No. Ms.A.9.2 v.12, p.123
