Description
Svenska: FIGUR.
English: Figure. Porcelain mirror stand in form of a hare with high-fired brown and colourless glazes. Early 18th century. An unusual item is this mirror stand in the shape of a hare looking back over its shoulder, with a mirror mount in the shape of lingzhi fungus on its back. The total assemblage (with mirror) looked like “the hare in the moon”, that Chinese people see when they look at the pattern of dark shapes on a full moon. This ceramic example copied similar models in bronze. On the base is an incised inscription in large characters “made by Huang Qianxian”.
