Description
Percentage of population using solid fuels as the main cooking fuel, 1980 to 2010. The share of households by region who rely on wood, crop residues, dung, charcoal, or coal as the main cooking fuel. The burning of solid fuels in households for cooking and heating can lead to very low indoor air quality, and illness or mortality from pneumonia, stroke, heart disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and lung cancer.
