Description
English: Depths shown by contours and soundings. Shows fortifications, settlements, roads, railroads, streams, and vegetation in some areas. Also covers Richmond city region. Annotated in purple ink at lower right: Camps and routes of march of the U.S. Engineer Battln. during the Peninsula Campaign--1862. [Signed] Gilbert Thompson, U.S. Eng'r Battln.--1862. Also annotated in purple ink to show the lines of march in 1864 and ship routes of Aug. 1862, and in green ink to show the march routes of 1865. Originally printed on 2 sheets. LC Civil War maps (2nd ed.), 475 Available also through the Library of Congress Web site as a raster image. Imperfect: Horizontally fold-lined, torn at fold line, missing section at upper right corner of margin, mounted on cloth backing, hemmed at edges. Includes list of source-material authorities.
