Samuel May, Jr. informs William Lloyd Garrison that he met Dr. Henry I. Bowditch the previous day, and that he told Bowditch of Garrison and of his "strong desire" to have Garrison consult "some one who has made thorough study of such cases" as Garrison's. May advises Garrison that Dr. Bowditch had offered to do anything in his power to assist Garrison, and recommended Dr. Calvin Ellis as exceedingly competent in such matters
