Samuel May Jr. (Writer) asks Samuel J. May (Recipient) to write more often. He expresses an approval of the Unionist (publication), and goes on speculating why God allowed slavery (saying that god perhaps decided “to disclose his character to men gradually”). The letter ends with a report of Writer?s activities since he last wrote to the recipient
