Holograph, signed "Aff[ectionately] John G. Whittier, By Addie Caldwell." The letter was presumably dictated by Whittier and written down by Caldwell
John Greenleaf Whittier writes: "In regard to the Georgetown, Hymn, thee will see a note in the Boston Transcript of yesterday."
This letter is a reply to William Lloyd Garrison's letter written on Jan. 21, 1868, Call No. Ms.A.1.1 v.7, p.71A, regarding John Greenleaf Whittier writing a hymn to be sung at the dedication ceremony of the church erected by George Peabody in Georgetown
