Johnson calls Garrison's attention to the numeration of the yearly anniversary of the American Anti-Slavery Society, and informs Garrison that, like the previous year, Garrison has been erroneous. Johnson states that last year was the 30th anniversary, not the 29th, and that consequently this year's meeting is the 31st such anniversary. Johnson encloses an accompanying slip detailing the year and numeration of every anniversary meeting to date. Johnson closes by stating that George Thompson has decided to follow their advice in returning to Boston following the New York anniversary, abandoning his projected lecture tour of the West
