As indicated in the original catalog card, this letter appears incomplete due to the lack of the author's signature
At the top of the third page, the letter is labeled "Private" by the author
May describes a group of letters written by John Brown to his wife that Webb wanted for an abridged biography. He tells Webb that he will send a copy of "The Sable Cloud" by "Southside" Nehemiah Adams. May adds that business is very quiet except for the makers of war materials and tells of an arrangement for paying George Thompson's salary
