The state quarterly meeting is important. William Lloyd Garrison wants to see George William Benson about publishing the "Cradle of Liberty." Garrison says: "We shall issue a specimen number, in season for the quarterly meeting next week, and then determine at once as to the course it may be proper to pursue. I have some misgivings on the subject." He believes the Board of Managers will be sustained by a majority of delegates; otherwise they will resign. Garrison comments on Henry Brewster Stanton's hostility toward him. He doubts if Amos A. Phelps will be installed in Marlborough Chapel (as pastor of the Free Church). President Mahan's preaching affected Free Church members. Garrison likes Mahan's recent book.[Scripture Doctrine of Christian Perfection, by Asa Mahan, 1839.] Only 1500 subscribers were obtained for the Abolitionist. Garrison will publish another letter from James Boyle in the Non-Resistant and the Liberator
