William Lloyd Garrison describes the domestic arrangements in the new house. Edmund Quincy changed his views on the Declaration of Sentiments (of the New England Non-Resistance Society), but he not ready to sign it and does not endorse the entire document. Garrison is confident that Edmund Quincy will "come out right," but he has little hope that Samuel Joseph May will "get his mind relieved in season to start with us." He foresees many trials. Garrison has been surrounded by anti-peace men. Garrison asks George W. Benson's opinion on sustaining the Liberator with necessary staff (with Oliver Johnson as editor)
