On verso, the delivery address is "Mrs. Charlotte Phelps, Farmington, Conn." It was postmarked, "BUFFALO, N.Y., SEP 18."
A.A. Phelps writes to his wife, Charlotte, about his recent activities and the reason to be in Buffalo. In Le Roy, he had a quite meeting to form an antislavery society in spite of some disturbance. He then mentions some trouble Thompson had in Concord. He says people in the American Anti-Slavery Society approves of his leaving the agency, and are talking about the possibility of his working for "the Spectator" or "the Free Church."
