On verso, the delivery address is "Mrs. Charlotte Phelps, Farmington, Conn." It was postmarked, "ROCHESTER, N.Y., SEP 5."
A.A. Phelps writes to his wife, Charlotte, about his activities in Rochester. He says the opposition he first met there was furious, but the success was so great that he was informed that the opposition leader is now an abolitionist. He then talks about his desire of getting some work in Connecticut and making Farmington home for the winter. He says the prospects of the cause in the Rochester area are very good
