Oliver Johnson requests that William Lloyd Garrison withhold his letter to the Executive Committee concerning Parker Pillsbury's letter issued for publication in the Standard if Garrison thinks it unwise to approach them on the matter. Johnson requests that Garrison provide him with his personal advice regardless. Johnson writes that while it is a "shame" that Pillsbury should have written such a "bitter and uncalled for" attack on James Miller M'Kim, the best course of action remaining to them may be to simply publish the letter rather than opening themselves to accusations of supression of freedom of speech within the cause
