William Lloyd Garrison praises Fanny Garrison Villard's diligence and punctuality as a correspondent. Frank "has a large bundle of your letters carefully preserved, which darling Helen may some day peruse with interest and delight." William L. Garrison wishes he could have been there when the grandchildren received their Christmas presents. William L. Garrison writes: "It is too late to suggest to your mother not to send you or the children any boots or shoes; for they were forwarded last month, and doubtless, by this time, are in your possession." Garrison says: "Until yesterday, the new year has been the mildest for forty years, not a trace of ice or snow to be found; but a heavy snow-storm came down upon us all day yesterday, ..."
