On verso, the delivery address is "Prof. Smyth, Brunswick, Me." It was postmarked "BOSTON, MS, OCT 26."
The manuscript is stamped, "PHELPS, MSS."
A small piece of paper and text is missing on the second leaf
A.A. Phelps writes to William Smyth to express his belief that the formation of a new organization should be postponed until after the annual meeting of the Massachusetts Anti-Slavery Society. He says that the connection between the Liberator and the society will be severed. Phelps expresses his own disagreements with William Lloyd Garrison
