On verso, the delivery address is "J. G. Birney Esq., New York." It is postmarked, "BOSTON, JAN 29."
Amos A. Phelps writes to James Gillespie Birney regarding a deposit of money made in the Suffolk Bank in Boston, which Mrs. [Wisner?] can retrieve at Andover. He then asks Birney ́what the status quo of your committee is since the meeting & what you intend to do.́ Phelps says the account on the Emancipator is hard to decipher. He asks for Birneýs ́interpretation.́
