On verso, the delivery address is "Mr. Burnap, Lowell, Mass." It is postmarked "BOSTON, JAN 13."
Amos A. Phelps directs the attention of Uzziah Cicero Burnap to an article published in the Liberator that charges a certain clergyman. Phelps says the article misrepresents facts, and that the only change that has been proposed in the Massachusetts Anti-Slavery Society is to give each religious denomination a fair representation in the Board of managers. After criticizing the monopoly of the Liberator in the state society, Phelps says they need to battle Garrison on this matter. He asks Burnap to take a look at the measures proposed at the Worcester County meeting and to be present at the annual meeting to vote on related matters
